We normally go to the caravan park at Whitecliff Bay on the Isle of Wight so we can also visit our friend. This time it was a short 6 day break at Barmouth Bay for hubby, courtesy of the above mentioned friend, to celebrate his 70th birthday. I was unable to go at first, but after seeing the beautiful location he knew he would never get away with it and drove all the way back to come and get me after 4 days.

We were both impressed by our first visit to this site, and without a doubt would return. Even though it was right at the beginning of the season, the few maintenance staff were friendly and always had a smile.

The icing on the cake even though I didn't get to meet the reception staff was receiving 'Bear in the woods' who is absolutely gorgeous. He will take pride of place in my bear collection - there is no age limit believe me to a cuddly soft bear :-)

The caravan (which was a disabled/accessible one) was spotless and I loved the shower which was perfect for fussy me.

If I had a minor criticism it would be that the mattress was too soft for my back but I do appreciate that everyone is different, and because my visit was so spontaneous there was nothing really that could have been done (I have this issue wherever I go unfortunately).

Thank you to all at the Barmouth Bay Park, and we will definitely be back when we can (have also left a review on Trustpilot).

We booked the first week the site was open and were impressed with the non contact check in . The caravan was spacious and very clean and sealed after cleaning . The site is great with direct access to the beach , the Chip shop is open and serving meals to take away , the shop was open but only cash and needed restocking but not surprising given the first week . The pub was serving for outside drinkers . Great access from here to Snowdonia Park ,
Great stay , thank you

We recently stayed here and had an amzing time. The park is a 2 minute walk to the beach so is very easily accessble. There is plenty of outoodr space and it feels like a home from home. We have two dogs that love it here too! There is also access to a swimming pool, a brilliant arcade, a chippy, pizza place, bar, small supermarket and a food stall (we haven't tried the food here however). In a perfect location (about a 10 inute drive into the centre of Barmouth) and you can walk to Barmouth along the beach. Couldn't recommend enough!

Drove down from Montrose in Scotland, never been to Wales before and was so happy I had booked the trip. Jane and the staff at reception were very welcoming and helpful. The pool was immaculate and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Our accommodation was a stones throw away from the beach. The beach was clean and plenty stones available to do some stone art! The accommodation was spotless, very very comfortable and the 65inch TV was perfect for watching movies in the evening after a full day of activities. The kids playpark was well maintained and suitable for all ages. I would definitely recommend this holiday park with plenty to do and see in the surrounding area to suit everyone.

Absolutely fantastic place.

Location: Perfect, nicely tucked away and private, yet just a small drive away is Barmouth with nice pubs, shopping, beach, a small fairground, access to the beech etc etc.

Accommodation: Perfect, extremely spacious,
comfortable, modern, and well equipped with everything you need. Nice large decking area outside to sit, drink, eat, and securely gated off so the dogs could run round but not escape.

Staff: Welcoming, polite, fun to talk to and always happy to help. Real nice down to earth people.

Kids: They loved it. Both 14yrs and made friends on day 1. Didnt want to leave. Great adventure park, sports court, swimming pool and they couldn't get over the outdoor cinema.

Welcoming of dogs: Again amazing. Even had a bag for each dog with treats, a toy, blanket etc etc.

Beach is literally on your doorstep and although a bit rocky, a very short walk up the beach and its all sand.

The building next to reception (not owned or run by the park but all welcome) is home to a well stocked shop (that actually hasn't pushed it prices to a premium for being on site), an arcade with a good mix of machines and games, a nice bar with big screens for sports (only down side is pub doesnt allow dogs), and a takeaway where you can get Pizzas and the BEST fish and chips I've ever known.

And just a 2 minute walk up the road is a fantastic restaurant (Nineteen 57). Very smart, and well equipped with a comfortable and warm outdoor seating area so you can take the dogs if you want.

I'm a big believer that nothing can be 100% so have to raise the one let down: No afternoon bingo 😲😲

Firstly I’d just like to say this more of a review about our caravan and location, not the park itself. As we walked through the rest of the park it was clean and looked really good.

So our caravan 119 was approximately 20 metres from a large play park and metal mesh enclosed football court.

From about 10am till 10.30pm all we could hear was the constant thump and crash of a football against the metal fence, this was relentless and I have to say pretty tortuous to listen to constantly in the evening. I’m a fan of kids playing outside, and not stuck on a console, but I don’t see why caravans are so close to this court.

We contacted the park, who said we should have requested a quieter location when we booked, but if I didn’t know caravans were on top of such facilities, why would I request this? There is no such question or prompt during the booking process. I have visited many caravan sites, and never seen anything like this so close to caravans.

So I would like to highlight to people that if you don’t wish to be subjected to this noise, please contact the park in advance to request a caravan away from the 119 area.

I have thought hard about whether 2 out of 5 is too low as the inside of the caravan was good, and the rest of the park looked good, however ultimately we had to cut the holiday short, so can’t really give more than 2.

Thank you for your comments RobotEngineer13. I'm sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the location of your Caravan. We are unable to guarantee which part of the park you would be allocated as this is done at random. We do hope that this hasn't put you off from visiting us again Should you decide to join us again, if you contact us at the time of booking, we can try to accommodate your needs to be in a quieter area of the park.

First of all, I would like to give praise to the girls at the reception office, so friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a kiddie's club or night time entertainment, this site is not for you. But if you want a clean well run site with great accommodation, and nextto the beach and a river. Also, is the Sands ( not owned by barmouth bay) which offers a small supermarket and penny arcade, then round the corner is Billy's fish & chip shop and next door is the Nineteen 57 which offers food & drink and does a lovely Sunday lunch. Well forgot to say the site has a children's play area and swimming pool, then you will love this site and it's location just outside Barmouth and easy for visiting the area of North Wales, this site is a gem, and I would definitely recommend.

Great caravan site so close to the sea. Ideal for adults and children. Great swimming pool on site, adults only first thing in the mornings and then children rest of the day. Lovely park for the children. Chip shop just round the corner. Restaurants in walking distance, depending on how far you like to walk, there are lots more within short car journey.

From the moment of arrival we noted how friendly and helpful the staff were , nothing was to much trouble. It was clear how much knowledge and pride the staff had of the local area.

Check in was super quick and efficient, the van was lovely very well equipped and very comfortable- beds made up on arrival with lovely white linen and fluffy towels.
Hot tub was good to go - hot & ready to jump in.

The location is second to none , the sweeping mountains behind you and the beach straight in front.
We started the days with a beach walk and ended them watching the sun set over the sea as a family… perfection at its best.

We had some wonderful days out , zip world being one of the best! The local area has so much to offer … we stayed for a full week & we could have stayed much longer.

We swam most days which our youngest loved , basic changing rooms so we braved the cold and returned back to our caravan in towels and showered there 😅

We ate at the local restaurant59 - highly recommended but I’d advise to book as they do get busy. Fish & chips on site were very tasty too. The van is so well equipped we did eat at home a lot as it was easy after days out & we were keen to use the hot tub too.

We had a wonderful stay at Barmouth Bay with our 12 year old daughter. Beautiful location next to the beach and plenty to do and see in the local area.
We stayed in a mini lodge for 4 nights and were extremely impressed by the cleanliness of both the accommodation and the holiday park.
We had a warm welcome on arrival and were provided with information about on-site facilities such as the indoor pool.
If you're looking for a holiday park with a quieter feel and a beautiful beach (and amusements to keep the kiddies entertained on a cold or rainy day!), I would highly recommend Barmouth Bay - we will definitely be back.
