Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We came to Hamilton Lodge for a family holiday. I cannot recommend this cottage higher. The garden is beautiful, there is a washer and dryer which is a godsend with the kids. Q was our host, he was so kind throughout and we left some clothes there that he posted back and he covered the postage!!! We had the most amazing time, the kitchen was easily the best stocked kitchen we have seen and there wasn’t anything that we needed at all. There’s even an expresso machine. Loads of attention to detail with really nice rugs and towels. It was absolutely stunning Nothing was too much trouble. We will without a doubt be coming again for a holiday next year.

On my recent visit to Pembrokeshire to walk some of the Coastal Path, I stayed in Hamilton Lodge for four nights. It was a great location, being just minutes from shops, restaurants, cafes and bus terminal. The lodge had everything I could have needed for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Happily the weather was great so I was able to enjoy the delightful garden, which was absolute bliss after a long day of walking. Q, my host, was very helpful and hospitable both before and during my stay. I would definitely come back again.

We stayed with friends for a week at Hamilton Lodge. Superbly equipped across three bedrooms and a kitchen with everything you'd need, the lodge is within two minutes walk of the centre of town, yet tidily hidden away. The garden is a sun trap with tables & chairs. Great walks straight out the door across the top of the cliffs, or down into Lower Town. Parking is convenient, just over the road. A fantastic place to stay, and can't recommend highly enough.

Simply the best self catering accommodation I've ever stayed in! Spacious, extremely well and beautifully equipped in a great location near the centre of Fishguard with everything you could possibly need within short walking distance. Sunny, self contained quirky garden that you can enjoy come rain or shine and loads to do from your doorstep! We enjoyed runs and walks along the coastal path, evening strolls down to the harbour and chewing the cud with the ever friendly locals over a pint or two. Great communication from the owner 'Q' with relevant and precise details pertaining to the accommodation, local attractions and things to do. Can't recommend highly enough!

Stayed for a long weekend March 2020. It's the second time we've visited. It's perfect. Delightful lodge, really well furnished and decorated. Lovely garden. Ample milk, lovely bread, cereals tea and coffee. Comfortable and relaxing. It's located in the town so access to everything is really easy, shops, pubs, transport on the door step. The owner is really helpful and friendly. I really can't fault this place. Will be back for sure.

I had an extended stay at this cozy hostel . Conveniently located in the town close 3 mins to the bus stop in the town square . Although there was construction in the square still very handy to all the town essentials. Hamilton Lodge is decorated with interesting memorabilia that makes it seem like a home not a hostel .I stayed in January so could not enjoy the back garden as much as I would in the summer , however it is a wonderful feature and very charming to look at even in The winter. Hot shower good coffee and fresh bread . Quentin is a 5 star host and very flexible and great advice on sights buses and things so see and do. Highly recommended.

Lovely clean and warm place to stay. The owner Q is such a warming friendly bloke. He gave us plenty of recommendations of things to do and places to go in the area. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Fishguard to definitely come here to stay. The room was clean and tidy. Bed was comfy. Facilities were also great.

Spent a weekend there with friends and absolutely loved it. The facilities are great, the bedrooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The property has a quaint private garden and for damp days, there is a TV and a wide selection of books and DVD's. The location is ideal for walks to the harbour or a shuffle around the shops. I couldn't believe how many small cosy pubs were within walking distance. All provided a warm welcome and gorgeous food. The owner was really helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough - I will definitely return for another stay, A++++++ 😊

We originally meant to walk this part of the Pembrokeshire coastal path but due to the weather turning a little inclement we caught the bus directly to Fishguard and decided to walk the stages from there. On arriving my partner found the details for here and I gave Q a call who fortunately was in a position to help us! The accommodation was perfect and it was like a home from home. You essentially have full use of the house and therefore have the responsibility of keeping things in order. It's far more than a hostel! The most bizarre thing about it was we have invited one of the other guests to stay with us on his travels around the UK! We would definitely stay again when we finish the final leg of our travels.

Our plan was to begin our cycle ride of the Celtic Trail- Cycle Route 4- from Fishguard and I was given the task of booking somewhere for us all to stay where we could sort out our kit, get a good night's sleep and then have breakfast before heading off on the Trail. The Backpackers Lodge didn't disappoint and the owner,Q, and his family were as helpful and accommodating as they could be.They were genuinely interested in our plans and gave us good tips for eating out in Fishguard when we arrived. Q was unavailable to meet us but provided a key with which we could get into the Lodge and unpack. As a group of 5 we were able to have all 3 rooms at no extra charge, a very kind gesture from Q as I had originally booked 2 rooms for us to share to cut down costs. The lodge itself is equipped with maps, useful magazines and games and has a lovely garden at the rear which we didn't have time to use sadly. Breakfast was lovely with tasty fresh bread, jams and cereals. The building is situated on a quiet road ,only a short stroll into the centre with a car park almost opposite. We really loved staying here , it was the perfect start for our trip. My husband and I will definitely stay here again if we revisit this part of Wales and can highly recommend it to fellow cyclists.
