Went in January on the six course taster menu offer, we liked it so much we booked straight away for the Valentines night. The welcome was friendly and our room was spacious and very clean. On both occasions we had lunch in the brasserie and the service was excellent as was the food and it has a really good atmosphere....

The hotel itself seems to be quite large, however, it is typical of the era, it seems due a spruce up. Quite old styling, although I assume the management team would state they are trying to retain some of the 'original charm', that's the usual waffle. If you have not visited before you need to be aware that you need...

My mother in-law likes to treat us to hotel stay as a Christmas gift. The Metropole came up as a Groupon offer, and we were able to book on a weekend. (Handy as we both work during the week.) The hotel has been owned by the same family since 1871. It has greatly expanded over this time and is now...

We booked a travelzoo dinner bed and breakfast deal and really enjoyed it. Superior rooms were spacious, the hotel was nice and warm and the 6 course taster meal was the best we have ever tasted. The breakfast was well presented and local produce. The spa was very good too. SAdly the whirlpool was not working when we were there, but...

Was looking forward to this Anniversary night out with 3 course meal, but what a let down. Soup - watered down and lukewarm, served in this large bowl with a huge rim and very little in the middle Roast Beef - one carrot, broccoli, a few roast potatoes and a large yorkshire pud, again lukewarm (meat was nice) Lemon tart...

My partner and I took up a Travelzoo offer to come here for a night and we both loved it, we came home feeling relaxed and refreshed. The hotel itself is very old, and there is a vintage feel to the decor in the public areas, but rather than looking 'tired' as some older places can, it (rightly) celebrates it's...

We visited around April last year on a Travelzoo voucher and when it came up again we just couldn't miss the opportunity. This time we booked a superior room, and the 6 course tasting meal had changed this year. We arrived just after 5, receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. We got room 321, which was divine. The bed was...

We stayed here this weekend for an overnight stay and a tasting menu dinner deal. Finding the car park was a little tricky but from that moment on it's been pure bliss! After walking into reception through the colorful and grand downstairs of the building, checkin was friendly and efficient - we had booked treatments at the spa and got...

Large hotel where customer care and comfort is still the primary aim of all the staff. Large superior room, very comfortable. Restaurant food and service second to none. Breakfast extensive, dinner delicious, service unobtrusive yet efficient. Highly recommended.

We spent 2 days in Cenral Wales staying at the Metropol, where we also dined. The hotel was very welcoming and we had a spacious clean room with all the facilities we needed. The visit was affected by bad weather but that did not detract from our overall enjoyment. The restaurant was well appointed and the food plentiful and good....
