I was reluctant to write this review for the most selfish of reasons, if everyone realises how good it is they’ll all want to go and then there might not be room for us!
So here’s my reluctant review.
You are greeted by Nev & Glen like you are family and taken to the most beautiful room with everything you could possibly need and stunning views!
The room is really beautifully decorated throughout and the personal touches are well considered, including the slice of home made cake waiting for you.
The views from the patio and room are simply stunning and made the most of with the floor to ceiling glazed doors, so you can lie in bed in the morning and simply relax with a cuppa and let it all soak in.
Breakfast is served in your room- and is simply extraordinary. They bring it to a discrete little back door by your bathroom at the time you choose , in a wicker basket wrapped up.
We worried it wouldn’t be hot but it was and the full English was provided in heated metal servers that kept it nice and hot throughout breakfast.
The food was of good quality and well cooked.

There is a patio that you can laze on and let the views sink in. It was raining during our visit so we enjoyed the views from the really comfy armchairs just inside the doors.
In short this is a little slice of heaven tucked away in the beautiful welsh countryside with a great breakfast and wonderful hosts!
The only question you leave with is “when can we go back?”

Omg I’m going to hate writing this as the more people who know the harder it will be to rebook.

Glen & Nev are so wonderful and friendly and Nev wants your stay to be as wonderful as the views. We stayed in the Meadow Suite. It was beautiful, a home from home. The suite was spotlessly clean, the bed was so comfortable (best night sleep I’ve had in ages). The bathroom has plenty of towels and everything else you would need. The main room has plenty of storage and hanging spaces the breakfast table is made up for you there’s milk, butter, water and glass bottles with orange juice a kettle & toaster mugs honestly everything you would need. There are also 2 cafetières with fresh coffee if you prefer jams marmalade’s and the extra special touch home made cake and shortbread biscuits.
To views are amazing I could get used to waking up to them every morning. So many different species of birds I sat for ages just listening an watching the kites soaring through the sky.

This is my new place to stay when up visiting my family. I can’t wait to go back.

Thank you Glen & Nev for a wonderful stay and can’t wait to come back soon and see you all. Missing Misty to.

This place is what I like to call “a hidden gem”. We needed a nice place to stay just for one night whilst in Builth Wells for a golf comp. Am I glad I found Smithfield Farm! I knew as soon as we arrived and met the family (including animals) that we were going to have a good stay. The views from the meadow suite were second to none and some beautiful lemon drizzle cake ready for us in the room.
The room itself was beautiful. Really nicely furnished and such a cosy feel. On having a look around, there was nothing that had not been though of. Fantastic facilities. A nice drop of sherry if you fancy a tipple, fresh fruit, chocolates, toiletries, plenty of towels, coffee, tea, biscuits, sky tv. You name it. And all really good quality.
The bed was huge and we had the most restful sleep. Very comfy and warm.
And then last but not least, breakfast. Best breakfast we’ve ever had. The room already had a good choice of cereals, bread for your toast, fresh milk, butter and orange juice in the fridge. Then Glen brings your brekky at the time you request all wrapped up in a basket and delivers it to your door. We had a full cooked breakfast and you could taste how fresh it all was. Amazing!
Thank you so much for a brilliant and welcoming stay. It’s a shame we couldn’t stay for longer! We
will definitely come back here without a doubt if we’re in the area again and we will recommend the place to anyone who wants to just get away from it all and have a peaceful stay in the most idyllic surroundings. Thanks again.

This is my favourite BnB. We’ve stayed at many but this beats them all. The BnB is just outside the village of Builth Wells. We booked directly with the owners, Glen and Nev, staying in the Meadow Room with a huge picture window over looking rolling hills and the farm. Glen makes sure there is everything you might possibly need including lovely products in the bathroom and fruit, cake and sherry in the living room. The TV was fabulous and the bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast was hot and delicious, delivered to our door in a basket with farm fresh eggs.
Their farm dogs are gorgeous and love a tummy rub. They stay outside and the apartment is spotlessly clean.
Loved it!!

Quality B&B for the discerning traveller. Lovely hosts (Glen and Nev), peaceful setting and fabulous view from the Meadow Room. Perfectly cooked scrambled eggs for breakfast. Sue was particularly impressed by the small attention to detail touches.
Cannot recommend highly enough. Ken and Sue Stanbury, Northampton

What a wonderful place to stay. Glen and Nev made us so welcome. We stayed in the Meadow Room, a fantastic location overlooking spectacular scenery. The room was well appointed and comfortable with lots of extras to make our stay more comfortable. We ordered our breakfast in advance and it was delivered to our room the following morning. We enjoyed it on the patio, the top quality food made even more special by the views over the mid Wales contryside. Frankly, if you are tired of chain like hotels with impersonal service and want to go somewhere unique then Smithfield Farm is a wonderful alternative. You will not be disappointed. A pleasure to go somewhere whose owners still understand that excellent customer service instills a loyal customer base. We will definitely return.

Back again at Smithfield Farm. It's one of the best B and B places we've been in. Huge attention to detail and some really lovely thoughtful extras. Great views from your bed of the Radnorshire hills. Fantastic breakfast served in your room. Two spacious rooms to choose from. Wonderfully situated 2 miles outside Builth Wells in a peaceful rural location. Really lovely hosts.

Stayed for 2 nights end of August because we were competing on the Mewla rally. The owners cleared the entire farm yard so we could park the transit and trailer ( 35 feet long ). It's not really a room, more like a mini villa. Quality furniture and fittings throughout, and surgically clean. Nice touches like fresh cakes, real milk in a proper fridge, and even a sherry decanter for a nightcap on the private patio. Breakfast served in the room was also a very relaxed way to start the day. Jan and Nev were fantastic hosts and we will definitely book again next year. This B&B would genuinely give most 4 star hotels a run for thier money. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
