The hotel has an idyllic situation just above the river Usk. The gardens are beautifully maintained and in early spring are a mass of snowdrops and daffodils. The drive is lined lined with rhododendrons so I suspect, there is always something attractive of interest in the extensive gardens. The rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable with everything you could need...

Hidden in the woods, about two-and-a-half miles West of Crickhowell, off the A40 on the river Usk, the Reverend West's extraordinary late-Victorian country house is now a really comfortable 23-room hotel (Clergymen were obviously well-off then!) A warm welcome greeted us on our arrival and, whilst signing in for a two-night stay, our cases were whisked away to our 'basic'...

A lovely location close the to the beautiful river Usk and nicely hidden away outside of Crickhowell. Probably a anglers delight although we just enjoyed the view and the sound of the running water. The hotel building is a bit austere and grey looking although probably brighter in the summer sun. The staff were all very friendly and efficient and...

We went for the afternoon tea which was wonderful with sandwiches without crusts, a great selection of cakes, sweet treats and lovely scones with fresh cream and jam. The tea is served buffet style, with staff attendance for drinks and u can go up as many times as you like for the food and tea. The sandwiches & all the...

We spent a weekend with my wife and 3 yr old daughter at Gliffaes and enjoyed it to the full. The service is excellent and the staff is polite and willing to help especially as we have a toddler can be a bit difficult sometimes but we faced no problem at all. The hotels benefits from some amazing grounds, a...

The weather was a tad rough, and there I was, battling on towards Abergavenny in near fog, when I spotted the sign, with the words "Country House Hotel". The best decision of the weekend was to take that turn, and in particular our compliments to the chef (Karl) who really does know his stuff. The next morning I woke up...

Staying at Gliffaes proved a wonderful experience. It was like being a guest in a stunning private country house. The staff and owners work really hard to make things just right. The house, gardens, rooms and food were exceptional. We were a group of 4 and we all found it to be a lovely experience. It is so relaxing, we...

Took our extended family here for afternoon tea between Christmas and New Year and had a very cosy afternoon sat by the open fire. Afternoon tea is informal - a table is laid out with sandwiches, scones and cakes and you just pop up and help yourself. Tea and coffee are served in the same room and the small plates...
