The garden and the views around Avila Hotel make it special. After staying in inner city hotels near the University, the tall trees and leafy surrounds, were a great relief. The mountain parkland is quite close to the hotel and gives a restful air to the place. It has an olde worlde flavour which I do enjoy, a cross between...

Caracas is expensive and this hotel was not the exception. Facilities are old but preserved in good shape. It's a nice comfortable place to stay BUT, the personnel, OMG the personnel is terrible. Font desk is always busy and moody. If you request some kind of service they throw a mean look at you and they never smile. There was...

OK the breakfast was so good the fried arepas and the eggs to order. Now I have stayed here 10 times now and like it more so for the location it is in. The rooms are small and out dated but the back yard area is nice and well kept. Good to relax at. Only have 8 channels and 1...

If this was the first place you stayed in Caracas you probably wouldn´t be too impressed with the place. However, once you have seen some other places it doesn´t seem too bad. It´s certainly one of the better mid range options. The breakfast is not as great as some would have you believe. The food is limited in choice and...

Excellent hotel, a quiet place to relax and enjoy great food. The property has quite a history and the new management has done a great job to bring back the hotel's charm. Try the pizzas they are great

This hotel is totally overrated, it was one of the greatest hotels in Caracas a long time ago but poor management has degraded the overall state of the hotel over the years. The hotel is located in a quiet zone of San Bernardino, the climate is pretty cool and fresh all year around since it is close to the Avila....

I think most in this hotel wa average. I got one without AC, and it was not a problem. The price offered by email was different from the price I received when in person. I am glad i didn't pay in advance because the price in person was lower. Breakfast was included and it was pretty good. They had parties...

Good hotel to escape the noise of Caracas - an oasis in an upmarket part of Caracas. Close to the Teleferico and lovely Museo de Arte Colonial. For some it might be a little off the beaten track. About 30 bolivars from Plaza Bolivar by taxi. Not a cheap option and so good for mid-budgets. Can be crowded with conventions...

I stayed at this hotel in the July of 2008, for I was doing research in Venezuela. This hotel I found was comfortable, the service was relatively good, the rooms were also clean. Although, there was no air conditioner in the room and therefore was hot alot of the time. If you want a hotel that is actually without at...

If finding a cosy yet reasonably price hotel is a real challenge in Caracas (this seemed to be our impression based on all the hotel reviews), then we must say we were rather pleased with our choice on Avila. However, but for the black-market exchange rate, we would probably feel this place is over-priced (or anything in Caracas for that...

“If they get more guests & could earn more, they would have the funds to modernize the one time superb hotel - hopefully. But the political stalmate might delays things, perhaps. But hope will die last !!!”

“Check your room thoroughly before you unpack. Make sure all the plumbing, lights and air conditioning work. Some in our group had to change rooms because the plumbing would not drain. One of our lamps did not work. We were short towels.”

“Serendipity: our room on the upper floor above the reception had a balcony view over the garden and tall treetops. But the rooms downstairs had newer fittings and furnishings.”
