Book your visit now- you honestly won’t regret it. I wasn’t sure what to expect as our travel agent had booked this accommodation but it was AMAZING. They offer what is truly a boutique experience. You don’t need to “call reception.” You walk outside to the fire or the dining area and can ask Max or DT or Virginiah.

We had between 4-8 guests total there while we were visiting and it made it so much more intimate. We knew everyone but all had our own tables at dinner. And the food is frankly exceptional. Very flavorful with local flavors that also feel familiar. Dinner every night is three courses and there is always fresh made bread.

The upkeep of the rooms was also great. It wasn’t just doing a light upkeep. They would organize our shoes together and there was the early daily cleaning along with the turndown service during evening.

Basically this is marketed as a “budget accommodation” but the service is anything but. We were actually sad to leave as we knew everyone. If you can request someone to assist you with game drives, I would highly recommend Jeremy as well. Finally I know some reviews from years ago mentioned there being no WiFi but I’m happy to report there is WiFi now. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

We searched for a long time to find an affordable option to stay in the Moremi/Kwai area. All the lodges were very high priced for a family of four.
Then I stumbled upon the Khwai Guest House, which seemed to be a good alternative option.
It turned out to be a very good choice! It is called a guest house, and the rates are according, but the service, activities and staff are exactly like in the big lodges.

The 2 managers Virginiah and Max were very welcoming. They sit with you around the fire in the morning and evening and always ask how your day was, without being intrusive. The trip was to celebrate 5 years of marriage and they surprised us with a bottle of champagne and a personal note!
The rooms were very neat and the housekeeping lady was amazing. She was very helpfull, decorated our beds like little works of art and became friends with my two boys who loved to chat with her. As we had a family room we had two neighbouring rooms with a whole tented sitting area in between. Nicely decorated and with a sofa. Very practical that we could go to the boys room without having to step outside.
The activities were great. We did a night Safari and morning Safari with Jeremy. He knows all about the animals. We saw a group of hyenas, a bush baby, a leopard and many more. But you can also just do a selfdrive in the Khwai concession or Moremi if you prefer that.
The food was buffet style. It was rather simple, maybe the only difference with a lodge, but very tastefull and each night there was a different chef. The staff gave us a diner and a show as they came to sing and dance for us before dinner. Everyone loved it.
There is a very nice sitting area with a bar.

If you are still doubting if this is a good choice. Don’t! you will love it
And we never had a better price / quality rate than here

We just spent three nights at the Kwai Guest House and really enjoyed it - from our comfortable cottage to the wonderful staff and great meals (including before-dawn breakfasts around the fireplace) and fantastic game drives with very knowledgeable and professional guides. The animals are right around you - we had an elephant visiting our cottage one night and rubbing up against our front door. The next morning we discovered that the little tree next to our front porch wasn't there any more (eaten).

The place is nice located and I went with Shadow a good guide out to the parks.
The food is good, tasty and enough.
But the houses you stay in are not teally good constructed, because the houses are heating up, soooo much, that you end up at night in a sauna.
The heat is not coming down and there is not much circulation in the room.
Thats the main reason for the low review!
They should change it, because it is NOT ENJOYABLE AT ALL!

We had a fanastic stay at KGH. The rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast by the camp fire was fun although you needed a head torch to see what you were eating! Chatting around the camp fire in the evening was great. The staff were friendly and food was delicious. The game drives were amazing, we managed to see a leopard which was so exciting! The mokoro safari was both relaxing and thrilling. There's so much to do from this camp. Loved it!

The KGH is located close to the Moremi north gate, but also close to the Khwai concession, borg of which have great Wildlife and nature. Inside the camp the accomodations are spacious and very comfortable. However, the best feature are the staff who are friendly, helpful an knowledgeable (Max is a great guide)! A big recommendation!

What a surprise to stay here! Very beautiful rooms and lovely cosy main area. The staff was very friendly and the food very good!
Sitting together with staff and other guests around the fire was a moment to remember.
The price very ok when I compare with other places we stayed.

A good place to stay and our excellent guide Pako made the trip even better. However, the bar ran out of beer and one night there was a shortage of food which is unacceptable. But overall the food was excellent and the rooms were kept tidy so to conclude a recommendable place.

The place is a dusty, dirty wasteland surrounded by a concrete "sandbag" wall that only adds to the poor atmosphere.

The rooms – separate little "guest houses" – are OK. The common area is little more than a covered concrete patio with some odd seating, the dining tables and chairs, a refrigerator containing various drinks (for which you pay, including for your sundowner...NOTHING is complimentary here), and a small kitchen behind a wall.

The food is basic but runs from OK to very bad. Much of it is cooked over the wood fire (very basically) near the common area.

As noted above, you pay for ALL drinks (including water and sundowners), which you get from the fridge and then keep track of on a tally sheet, like an honor bar tally, for your own room.

The game-drive guides are good. That's the only saving grace of the place, but you often feel like they are just filling time, driving slowly on the main road or in obvious non-game-likely areas, just to meet the length of time set for the drive. It also felt more than a little unsafe as they drove way too fast over bumpy, sandy roads, trying to get to place where some particular animals had been spotted.

Checking out and settling our drink tab was frustrating. First in that the total cost they came up with was more than the actual amount (be sure to double check it) and then in paying it with a credit card.

It's a very basic, dusty, dirty place. If you've been camping and need a bit of a break from your tent, this might be a decent choice. If you are looking for something more akin to even the most basic safari lodge experience, this is definitely not it.
