Friendly staff and relatively quiet very basic room. It is well located and breakfast is included. However, some repairs should be done to make the place more OK and more memorable. Very decent rates.

El Portal de las Viñas is more of an "hospedaje" than a hotel. The owners live on site and there are only 7 rooms along a patio area behind their living area, kitchen and the reception area. My room was fairly simple and basic but clean and comfortable. I was there for two nights and noted a sign in the... More

I loved this hotel from the moment I walked in. I arrived Saturday the 16th of June without reservations. The owners and their friends were having an asado and they invited me to join them. I don't speak spanish but everyone was welcoming and included me in everything. To me, it's these kind of moments that I travel for. The... More

The first night, Natalia was in a hurry to get to her French class. She gave me room #2. It had 3 single beds. All night long I was tormented by mosquitoes buzzing in my ears. I also smelled mildew from the shower, although it must have been in the drain because i did not see it. The next morning... More

We booked a room on their website using the embedded reservation engine provided by hostelsclub.com. As usual our creditcard was charged with 10% of the room price as a non-refundable deposit. We received a booking confirmation from Hostelsclub.com. The next day a lady from the hostel sent us an E-mail saying that there is no room available for us. She... More

Hello, It is a small hotel with confort and a great place in the town. We had a room in the garden, so very quiet place. The breakfast is simple but in relation with the price. The couple is very sympathic. Only desagrement, you have to pass trough the kitchen to go in the garden. When the family eat, it... More

Our family of four adults rocked up unannounced after discovering our pre booked accommodation elsewhere was well below par. We were warmly welcomed by Natalia and her partner and their adorable toddler Ali ... we were each presented with a glass of local wine to whet our appetites..The accommodation around the rear grapevine covered courtyard is a beautiful setting that... This old house its just one block away the main city square. This means most important tipical food restaurants, music shows and arts are really close. This hostal is an middle option between an expensive hotel and a hostel. Cafayate is a small town, were most of the activities are outdoor, so in general there are not so many hotel... More

It is a lovely place with a nice courtyard. Very friendly service and close to the city centre with lots of restaurants and shops Good breakfast, TV in the room, good WiFi, hot water in the morning. I would stay the next time here only.

I am sorry to report that the El Portal de las Vinas was a poor choice for us when staying in Cafayate. We left after one night because it just wasn't comfortable. The room was very shabby and felt like it needed alot of work to be satisfactory. The woman who oversaw the place was very nice, respectful, but couldn't... More
