In a very small village, nothing around to stop. No restaurants. Nada. Very simple hotel. Poor heating. Very simple breakfast. We had heavy rain and room roof leaked in two spots. Being in an isolated area, no other option to go.

**Please see bottom of review for photography tips** Generally speaking you'll find that the Tayka properties are the best in the area and the Hotel de Piedra is no exception. The staff are soft spoken, polite, patient and discreet. The rooms have adequate electricity, hot water and heating to satisfy any traveller's needs. The food is quite good and generally...

They really should complete the exterior works as the first impression was poor whilst inside it seemed fully operational. A basic hotel built from salt rock with little hot water and very average food - but one has to remember that it is in middle of nowhere really. Tayka Del Desierto was much better/newer and in same group.

Also, even though operated by the same group, I find Tayka del Desierto better than Hotel de Piedra (both in terms of atmosphere, food and experience). The food we had was...

I agree with "don't expect much." No alternatives. I did not like the food either. Breakfast was limited to put it kindly. I cannot recommend this but if you want to see the salt flats they way they should be seen over days, then grin and bear it. Be prepared for the extreme cold. My camera did not work outside.
