We just spent a night here but I have visited before and had meals. Was a very relaxing location on the lake which is what we needed after trekking in the Congo. Stayed in one of the African bungalows which are right in the garden by the lake - spacious and fun bathrooms.

Stayed once with a group of friends. Setting is beautiful, straight on the lake, with nice round rooms, with OK bathrooms (especially for horse lovers). Would not stay again because once the power went, the owners were very stingy with the generator, so it was pitch dark outside at the tables by the lake. One of our friends eventually fell...

I spent couple of days in this hotel early December. The weather was really nice with occasional showers (better than seasonal average!). The name of the hotel changed it seems to Waterfront Resort or something. It's about 5 km outside of the city. The landscape is beautiful as you are literally on the lake with a fabulous garden. It's a...

It's worth noting that the property is now under new management, and the correct name is Waterfront Resort Lake Kivu. My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in one of the lakeside cottages--they are lovely! Definitely spring for the cottages over the rooms--they're well worth the extra US$20. The beds are huge and plush, and the open-roof showers...

This place has a great set up! The rooms are nice and the views are amazing! We stayed for 1 night in November mid week, which I understand is the low time. The rooms could be, with a few small tweaks, a luxury resort! The little huts are cute but lack a ceiling fan and better lighting. Our toilet had...

The taxi driver I had could not find it... even after directions he was getting lost so by the time I arrived I was quite irritated which unfortunately set the tone for the trip. I upgraded to an African Room so I could be by the water. The room cost $100 and was lovely inside with a great view of...

I stayed ther with a friend in December. There where a big wedding organized and a lot of "problems". The owner find solutions for us and we spend 2 wonderful days there. The view is amazing, the food is excellent, the small beach with bathing area is perfect. Highly recommended.

Okay, so I will start by saying that after having sundowners at Serena Hotel, coming here was a real drag. Especially since we arrived after nightfall and weren't able to see the splendid grounds. After a day of gorilla tracking and driving, I had high hopes for relaxation here, but here's what I got: 1. On arrival, walk up and...

The Palm Garden has a spectacular lakeside location in Rubona, both near and far enough from the bustle of Gisenyi. The views are lovely, the garden is special, with a small beach with a perfect bathing area. The atmosphere created by the conscientious manager, Védaste and his staff is second to none. Food is quite acceptable, made even better with...

Breathtaking, fantastic view, excellent customer service (the staff were always friendly) and worth every penny spent. Recommended the place to a few friends this summer and they could not have agreed any more. Planning to go back again for a longer period as we only had three days off from our Gorilla Trek in Birunga Ruhengeri and Nyungwe Hiking. For...
