We stayed in The Village at Botlierskop. The room was beautiful with a lovely view of the surrounding greenery. Lovely bathroom. The game drive with Richard was wonderful; saw lots of animals and Richard was very friendly and interesting. Oudie our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. Few observations: - The welcome needs work. Very little information given about the activities or facilities offered. You get a welcome drink but it's all a bit sloppy and awkward. - Lots of health questions asked that seemed unnecessary (not directly Covid related) especially after filling in the online form. - The rooms are closer to each other than expected - you can hear noise from other rooms very easily - We did not go with children but it is advertised as a family friendly lodge. I'm not really sure what makes that part especially family friendly. There appears to be very little for children to do, only really saw a jungle gym. There is a pool but it is located right next to the restaurant and is very small. There is a nice view of the rubbish skip. It was hot but we did not see a single person swim in the two days we were there. - You can only eat at the restaurant. There are no smaller, cheaper meals such as toasted sandwiches should you just want a bite and no snack type food. The food was very average. The drinks are decently priced. - Basically every single thing you can do there is an extra cost - that is often the nature of Game Reserves but it just did not feel like the quality matched the cost. - When you see the other part of Botlierskop during the game drive, The Village feels like a much cheaper, watered-down version. Overall, it was nice but only that. Staff were friendly but there is very little finesse in the way things were done. People were often looking for staff or info. The service and offerings need a lot of work. A lot of small changes would go a long way.

We spent time at Botlierskop Spekbos restaurant on the last day of the year and the experience is truly recommended to anyone looking to indulge delicious food and enjoy a glass of wine with a view. It gives a sense of a busveld experience, with a quiet ambience. The lamb shank and the peppermint crisp cheesecake were great options to choose from!

Breathtaking views, luxurious rooms, amazing service all nestled in between nature and a wide variety of animals right on your door step. So much to do and even more to see. Around every corner is a perfect relaxation spot hidden away between the bushes. The perfect get away.

Botliers kop game reserve If you feel like going to Shangri-La go to Botliers kop and experience the best of the best. Three days in the most spacious and luxurious Executive suite number 23,with a view on the mountain and Nyala buck grazing. A huge lounge outdoor double showers ,indoor bath, outdoor jacuzzi .A rugby field sized double bed. A cosy fire place. Meals was served in the manor house a distance from the room. Transport to the manor house was with a golf cart and very helpful drivers. I was in a wheel chair that they kept at the manor house. Transport was with the golf cart and then on the wheel chair up to our table. I have never experienced such friendly dedicated staff in my travels. I was treated like a king. The game drive was wonderful ,with a very good driver and guide. And more than enough game to see ,including Elephants ,Rhinoceros, Lions. The breakfast and dinner were of the highest quality, with a variety of dishes to choose from. A Must go !!!!

We could not have imagined a more magical and surreal 5 days. From our game drive with Simba, to the kids’ junior ranger trip with Silas, to Milan and his team’s hospitality at the restaurant and the luxury of the Fijnbos Spa, we were absolutely blown away by the hospitality, incredible knowledge and insight of this phenomenal resort and its family of staff! Our horse safaris with Victor and Reyno were just spectacular and the proximity to the game was nothing short of breathtaking. But the moment of a lifetime was our privilege of joining the vet safari to meet Clyde the elephant bull and be included in his various interventions with the incredible team and Silas - our expert ranger and driver! The conservation efforts, the opportunity to connect with the animals on such a unique level, the lessons learned in how we and each species fits into and impacts this earth and its ecosystem, and the reserve with its rich and inspiring history is carried and upheld by every staff member and every activity at Botlierskop! The accommodation is magnificent, the food is unrivaled in quality, and both adults and children alike will leave here wishing they didn’t have to. We will be back!! Thank you to the Botlierskop family for this truly life changing experience!
