Marangu Hotel is set on 12 acres of beautiful garden and has been open since 1932. We have been organising climbs of Kilimanjaro, on all routes, for over 80 years. The original farm buildings (now offices and reception) were built in 1907 as part of a coffee farm before being converted in 1932. Guest accommodation is provided in cottages around the gardens, and meals are prepared with vegetables from our own gardens and home baked bread.

Situated a 2km walk from Marangu, with great views from the grounds of Mt Kilimanjaro. Small camping area with plenty of good quality toilets, warm (heated by woodfite) powerful showers, and outside sinks available for wDhing clothes. Plenty of hanging lines to dry clothes. WiFi

Accommodation is in bungalows situated in well maintained grounds with a stunning view of mount Kilimanjaro. Food and service is good. The bar is like a UK golf club bar transported to Africa. A very enjoyable visit.

Stayed here for only two nights. The cottages are old, but well maintained, spacious rooms with seating outside. The garden is fantastic! On clear days you can see the top of Kilimanjaro! We had half board, with breakfast and four corse dinner, English style. Would recommend

I just completed a climb of Kilimanjaro with five friends using Marangu as our guides, and they were nothing short of amazing. They helped make our 7-day hike as smooth as possible, were experts in their pacing, and helped us greatly in making the final push. Highly recommend!

Hello Zada Thank you for your interest in our company. Before you leave to start your climb we will do a full inspection of your equipment and provide an in depth safety and information briefing about your climb. Our guides all have Wilderness First Responder training and carry communication equipment to relay any information to us. We provide a large amount of clothing and equipment and it does not come from one specific brand - but rather covers a range of brands and companies. Our stats over the last 10 years show that we have a success rate of 85% to the top of Kilimanjaro.

All arrangements can be made long before you arrive at the hotel if you want to. It's also possible to arrange everything once you have arrived but forward planning is generally a good idea. There are different approaches to climbing from just taking a guide (a requirement of the park) to having a fully supported climb with guide and porters and food provided. The hotel caters for all levels of support and so the choice is up to the climber(s).
