Terrible unfortunately. I know this hotel is under renovation and most of the hotel is being completed (maybe by mid 2012) but the standard of the existing available rooms s terrible.

The first impression I had of the hotel was a good one as the foyer and lobby are very grand looking and clean, the staff were very helpful and accommodating as well. However that all changed when I entered my room, I had a deluxe room (king sized bed) and found it to be very dirty. There were maggots crawling out from under my bedside table and someone had dropped a packet of food down there which was covered in them. There were cigarette butts in the ashtray even though I was told it was a none smoking room. I asked to change rooms which after I had to show the manager why he agreed. My new room was not much better, still bits of rubbish on the floor and hairs in the shower and also in my bed which told me they hadn't changed the sheets since the last occupants. My shower had no screen or curtain and as a result the toilet and bathroom floor were covered in water after a shower.
The paint was falling off the walls, the TV had very bad reception, the air-conditioner worked part time and the internet was (when it was working) at dial-up speed, the linen was old and had holes in it, the rooms smelt musty and dirty. There were many other issues with the room but these were definitely the worst.
The hotel advertises several restaurants but they are not open, the main restaurant is only open for breakfast otherwise you have to eat in the cafe which has a very limited menu. There is a pizza hut attached to the hotel and it is only about a five minute walk to a large shopping centre which has plenty of food establishments and shops.
Overall, the only thing this hotel has going for it presently is it's location, although for about $20 extra a night, you can get a better location and a proper four star hotel, which is where I am staying now as I had to move out.
There are much better places to stay in Balikpapan and for very little extra money, so until the renovations are finished and hopefully better cleaning staff, I would stay away from this place

Stay at the hotel for transit and the price when I stay was somewhat competitive (20 bucks). Instead of brand new name, the hotel room looks old. Cleanliness is average. Breakfast is so so. The good side is cheap (20 bucks is maximum you should pay),hot shower worked well and TV channels was clear.

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed it very much: A really big clean swimming-pool, great breakfast with omelet, very friendly staff, shoppingmall and beach-restaurants in walking-distance, travel-agency in the hotel, very good price-value-relation!

THE HOTEL IS NOT FIT TO BE OPERATIONAL, APART FROM MANT BASIC DEFECTS , THE ROOMS ARE ONLY SERVICED ONE TIME PER WEEK, YOU RECEIVE 600ML OF DRINKING WATER PER WEEK PER PERSON. BREAKFAST IS COLD WITH NO FRUIT JUICE OR CEREAL, BLACK OR WHITE TEA OR COFFEE WITH NO MILK. THE HOTEL HAS THREE LIFTS WITH TWO PERMANENTLY OUT OF SERVICE AND THE THIRD BREAKING DOWN DAILY. THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE CLOSED AND IS NOT FIT TO OPERATE, THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAY AT, THIS HOTEL IS UNSAFE...............

I live in Balikpapan and i'm pretty sure that this hotel is the most strategic hotel in Balikpapan, even more so if your travel destination is in the center of Balikpapan. Pizza Hut restaurant is right beside the hotel, many street foods around. You can reach Plaza Balikpapan only 10minutes by walking. The hotel is really near with hospital, police station, and some travel agent offices. But don't expect too much about the room & amenities, it's old a hotel.

I missed my flight connection in Balikpapan and I needed a hotel for a night. Balikpapan offered rooms for a reasonable price or at least more reasonable than the other ones in the centre and the room even had a window that I could open.
The room was really old, all the furniture, carpet, bathroom, everything, as if no one has touched it in the last thirty years. The bed was comfortable, having a Western style bathroom after many mandis was refreshing. The staff was also friendly and helpful.
