I stayed at the Blue Bird during a weekend visit to Bagan while on a business trip to Myanmar. Everything about the Blue Bird made the weekend unforgettable. From arrival to departure, the staff were incredibly attentive and helpful with anything I needed. I was really impressed with the quality of service and attention to detail. One of the highlights was the breakfast in the garden seating area. There were great offerings including homemade yogurt, fresh fruit juice, and tasty soups. The rooms were super comfortable and clean, and I loved spending time by the pool. There is also a family that rents scooters out front, so it was really easy to get that set up too. I actually loved that the hotel is reserved for guests only - no outside visitors - it felt like an oasis and you really received personalized service from the staff. They were also accommodating with late check out - even moving me to another room for no extra charge for the afternoon because the room I was in needed to be cleaned for new arrivals. My only complaint would be that it would be great to have spa services offered! The owner said they were working on it, so hopefully they will be available soon.

For five nights we stayed at the Blue Bird. They were excellent in every way. Cho and all the reception staff were helpful and considerate of all the activities we wished to schedule, making certain that our drivers and guides knew precisely which temples and areas we wished to visit. A fantastic restaurant staff for breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktail hour, even packing us wine and snacks for our boat ride on the Irrawaddy. Housekeeping was attentive to making our room warm and welcoming several times a day. And Security always welcomed us back ‘home’ with auspicious wishes of “Mingalaba”. The entire staff moved with such ease and kindness, making every day and every night a special time. A unique property in an incredible town, I can't recommend it enough! Come to the Blue Bird and Enjoy Every Moment!

Lovely hotel and superb room. We found this to be the best hotel and location in Bagan. It was so tranquil and quiet. The pool was delightful and much enjoyed after a long day on sightseeing on e-bikes. Breakfast was delicious too.

The staff are all incredibly helpful and friendly and the rooms are spotless, light, comfortable with a large bathroom.

We had the pleasure of staying 3 nights at The Bluebird hotel and it was a sanctuary in the midst of all the temple Madness in Bagan. The room was extremely comfortable and well-appointed, the bathroom was super with good hot water and pressure and the staff were constantly helpful and friendly. They were able to set up a hot air balloon trip and we thought the food in the restaurant was fantastic, definitely recommend the Tea Leaf chicken. Well it may be slightly more expensive than outside the quality of the environment and the food warranted it.

I also recommend getting your e-bike from the lady right out front 5000 kyats for the day was an amazing deal and the bike seemed brand new.

I want all this was a very pleasant respite from the Heat and Chaos of all the temples and can't recommend enough

We stayed at the Blue Bird for 4 nights. We had two rooms. Room was beautiful with nice beds, large bathroom with shower. We had no complaints of the room. The breakfast was nice, staff really helpful. At breakfast they were very attentive. We didn’t eat any other meals at the hotel. Across the street, we ate at a restaurant called Zarchi Ain which had fantastic food and service. We also had foot massages there. The owner at the blue bird was very helpful and friendly with suggestions on where to go and helped bookings.
We took the bookings for the first day - we went to Mt Popa but for the next days we actually found cheaper arrangements ourselves. The e-bike seller outside the hotel is great but if you walk to the end of the street you can get much cheaper. We also were told the booking of taxi to airport was $20 which we Found expensive so we asked the server from the restaurant across the street and got it much cheaper. All in all- a wonderful place to stay!

I felt so lucky to book early enough to get a room here during high season (December 2019). We were greeted with warmth and shown to our room immediately. The staff here are wonderful, from the security guards, to the gardeners, to the restaurant, and the front desk of course. They all stopped what they were doing to greet us whenever we passed. We loved the small touches of the hotel, including beautifully chosen decorations for the room, serving drinking water several times throughout the day and refilling our water bottles so we didn't have to use plastic, a feature wine special each day, and a lovely pool basket to put our sunblock, books, etc.

The room and bathroom were large and comfortably appointed and with a great use of space. We didn't mind the closet in the bathroom, and actually came to like it since it makes logical sense, The bed was comfortable with a mosquito net that we didn't have to use of because the building was consistently diffused with citronella. This was the most beautiful room and hotel during our stay in Myanmar. We spent a lot of time by the pool enjoying the garden.

Although in New Bagan, there were several restaurants in walking distance, both local and tourist oriented. Also, there is wonderful little family with an e-scooter and tuk-tuk business right out front of the hotel. We rented a large two-person scooter for Kyat 8000 for the day.

My only suggestion would be for the airport transportation. The evening before we left, we were told by the receptionist that the airport was 30 minutes away and a $9 taxi ride, payable to the hotel. Normally, I like to spread our money around when traveling, and would have booked a taxi elsewhere, but was quite trusting of the receptionist and also of the price given the perceived distance. In the morning, the taxi hired by the hotel was a bit late, and since I thought we had a 30 minute ride ahead of us, I was a little stressed to miss our flight. When our taxi finally did arrive, about 15 minutes late (!!), with both my husband and I pacing up and down, we were surprised to see that the airport was actually a 10 minute ride. This makes me question firstly, the price of the taxi, how much it actually cost, and how much the driver received, and secondly, why were were told that it was a 30 minute drive. I would not deduct a star for this from my rating since we were happy with the hotel and the service overall, but this is a piece of feedback for reception and for other guests. In hindsight, I should have researched transportation options rather than trusting the receptionist.

the location is very central to old bagan and is a great staging post to explore the old ruins and wonderful temple structures that surround this area. the staff are great and the rooms spacious and comfortable. the grounds are beautiful with a graceful pool and areas to sit, drink and eat. very nice and i would be happy to stay there for some time, but we only stayed a few days. they have an intimate dining room for guests only so you can avoid the tourist busloads. truely great food though. the nearby temples are great and they can organise a driver to take you around - ask for Wunna Aung as a tour guide - took us to see the 'big' temples and they are an absolute must and also the ones in the fields, open, unattended but beautiful in the isolation. Wunna can take you there but you will need to ask to see the site not seen by the tour groups but just as beautiful in the setting and place. there is a large artisan place that makes the lacquer ware that the area is famous for - just add it to the list and you will be grateful to see how they are all made.

This is a charming little boutique hotel; but, unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the reception I received upon arriving and left feeling like I had been overcharged and underwhelmed. I was traveling with my parents, husband and two small children. When we arrived at the hotel there was a problem checking in because the kids weren’t listed on the booking and I was told that I would need to pay 40usd for an extra bed per night. Then the manager intervened and informed me that actually I would be charged an additional 20usd/night because the extra bed would only fit one child and the additional charge was for the child to sleep in my bed. I balked at these costs as I felt it was ludicrous that I was being charged for my other son to share my bed. At 60usd extra per night I said I could pay for another room as that was almost the cost of my original booking through Agoda. In the end, I was charged an additional 40usd/ night and received no additional bed, got one extra towel (even though there were 2 kids) so I essentially paid 20usd extra per child for them to have breakfast and share a towel. The place was beautiful, the employees were kind but dinner service was extremely slow. We waited each night for over an hour for our food even though the restaurant was not overly busy. In addition, if you were to book any tours through the hotel, it would cost you significantly more. For example, they could provide you with a driver for the day for about 95 000 kyat but we were lucky to get the number of our taxi on the way to the hotel that was able to tour us around for the day for 45 000 and his English was great and he was very friendly. Overall, a pretty place but one that did not leave a good taste in my mouth.

Dear Caroline M, We always try our best to provide the best service possible within the hotel policy. We do not hide information or surprise our guests in regards to our policy or facilities. The child policy is clearly informed on Agoda, Expedia and our website. Additionally, when guests clarify with us for their children by email before making reservation, we always respond with details and options in order for guests to make decision before choosing Blue Bird. However, when guests arrive with children unannounced earlier, the hotel requires explaining the policy and applying any charges incurred as per our child policy. For room set up, we understood that one child will be in one room and another will be in another room as per your Registration. Therefore, we provided set up for one child in one room and set up for another child in another room. Do accept our apology if any inconveniences caused to you due to misunderstanding. Regarding transport arrangement, when our owner lady provided you area information, she explained you that arranging with the hotel may be more expensive than using those from the new Bagan town. We work with licensed transport companies for arrangement. She gave you the option referring you the shop around the corner. At the same time, she offered you another option that to ask the reception to call your taxi gentlemen and you were able to talk directly with him. We never urge or upsell any transport arrangement to our guests. We are so sorry if you had to wait that long for your dinners. We are working on this matter with our Kitchen Team for better service standard. At the same time, please accept our sincere appreciation for having dinner with us for every night throughout your stay. We truly appreciate for your support to our F&B. Best regards, The management

We stayed here for 3 nights. Very friendly staff. Although it says they cannot recommend restaurants which I find a bit odd. Usually if it's your first time in a place the best people to ask would be the staff where you are staying (hotel concierge or resort staff).

Room was well-appointed, although the TV was a bit small and bathroom was spacious. Only problem we had in the bathroom is the waterfall shower, it was difficult to mix hot and cold water.

Breakfast was limited. Not much choices. The restaurant menu is also limited in my opinion, reason why we had to go out to town every night.

Location is quite far from restaurants. We had to hire a tuktuk for 10,000 kyats every night we went out for dinner.

Would still recommend coz we had a comfortable stay and for those who prefer peace and quiet this is the place to just chill and relax !!!

Dear Kilen 518, Greetings from BLUE BIRD BOUTIQUE HOTEL BAGAN! We are happy to read that you enjoyed your stay with us here at BLUE BIRD in Bagan. Thank you for liking your well appointed room and spacious bathroom. Your comment regarding Breakfast limited choices could be misleading the TA readers as you can read all the positive breakfast TA reviews highlighting the variety and quality of local and international products freshly cooked and prepared. At the same time our team always try to assist when special request arise and if possible.. We are sorry to read about your feed back concerning the difficulty you had to mix cold and hot water at the water fall shower. Please be sure that our team would have been ready to assist you on this one on the spot. Many of our TA readers are highlighting our nice original Waterfall shower different from all corporate hotels. Our hotel is located at the outskirt of NEW BAGAN just a 10-20 Minutes walk from many of the tourists restaurants in New Bagan (as stated on our hotel TA page). In your case you paid MMK 10,000 for a Tuk Tuk to go up to Nyaung Oo (one of the 3 villages of BAGAN, located north of Bagan) to one of restaurant of your choice. For this reason, its misleading for TA readers when you say that our "hotel is quiet far from restaurants". Thank you for bringing up the point regarding lack of recommendations for restaurants when asking our staff. Kindly understand that it is difficult for our local team to be updated on the quality of the restaurants in town on a regular basis as they may be some changes that they cannot be aware of, and please understand that they usually do not frequent tourists restaurant as they mostly eat at home with the family. In any case on the TA page of our hotel you do have sufficient information/ contact/directions on the closest restaurants with latest updated reviews in order to make your own choice as per your taste. We are sorry that in your opinion you felt that Our restaurant menu was limited, please note that we cook quality and fresh ingredient only and our motto is quality and not quantity. As you could see many of our TA reviews are highlighting the quality and the freshness of the meals served at our restaurant in a nice, quiet and clean environment - and with good attentive service. We are looking forward to Welcome you here again one day, kindly contact us directly as we will be delighted to assist you with your booking directly. Happy Travels, Blue Bird TEAM

Large, tastefully furnished rooms with air- conditioning and and a unusual, very original, waterfall shower in the bathroom.
Ample buffet-style breakfast provided in an outdoor garden setting
The 7 page hand-out they provided at reception was extremely useful with suggested itineraries and a wealth of information about transportation and other essentials. It was also useful because it listed the names of all the most important monuments which was a great help in going through photographs of Bagan afterwards..
The staff were super helpful and delightful in every way, nothing too much trouble for them. Note: it is also a "Green Hotel."
