We were a family of 12 ages 9-69 and had the best experience. The hotel itself is stunning, rooms amazing (both families of 5 had an adjoining room so they got to be together) and it has an incredible pool area. They have multiple resort activities and our chosen activities were perfect for the family - walking with the elephants, (great to be up close and hear how the mahouts handle and live with them) spiced spoon cooking class (absolute fav for everyone!!) and there was a boat ride to see the 3 countries converging on the river and a tour of a village which really wasnt a village but more a craft market and was our least fav thing to do. Staff were super accommodating for our big family and everyone always has a smile on their face and is willing to do whatever you need.

Hotel's Favourite
The whole experience for us at the Golden Triangle was incredible, probably aren’t enough positive words to describe all aspects of everything that was simply superb! We had booked the Explorers Arrival option which meant being met by Tann at the riverside near Chiang Saen, he was excellent and very knowledgable, and took us down onto our boat to head along the Mekong river, an exhilarating start! When we arrived at Anantara, we went up onto a pretty welcome jetty area and were greeted by two serene giants, a pair of beautiful, graceful elephants; Jatong and Kamun, best friends, who do everything together. Just the most stunning welcome and such a joy to experience. Winn explained so much to us about how they work with the elephants here, having around 20 onsite that have been rescued and bought to enjoy a peaceful life in this lovely safe sanctuary space, we were able to share bananas and coconuts with the two that greeted us whilst we enjoyed fresh cool drinks too. Our room was beautiful, wonderfully decorated for our wedding anniversary as we were celebrating whilst away on our trip. The facilities of the hotel were pristine, all the staff so warm, friendly and attentive without ever being intrusive which can be a fine art! We had chosen 3 activities to enjoy during our stay, walking with giants, spice spoons market trip and Thai cookery lessons and a delightful relaxing spa treatment each, and we enjoyed every aspect of each activity, hard to decide which was our favourite! Being so close with the elephants was an amazing treat, considering how big they were, they were just so gentle and calming, and a real pleasure to see how well they are being looked after here by Winn and the teams of expert Mahouts, their connections with these gentle giants is just fascinating to watch. We also absolutely loved the session with Chef Pisit Jinopong, or “Chef Jino” as we all called him for the day! He is the head chef for the resort and his knowledge shone through, sharing details of his incredible career spanning over 30 years and working in some very interesting places. We visited the local early morning market in Chiang Saen to experience the vibes and produce available and meet some of the local people, a great way to immerse yourself in local culture, very interesting and enjoyable. From here we went to a local farm run by a local family and enjoyed their hospitality with a traditional breakfast prepared for us, even including a few nips of their own homemade whiskey! Back at the hotel we went to see their own hen houses and mushroom farm area as they work hard to focus on environmental sustainability and use as much local and fresh produce for their restaurant menus as possible. They also highlight throughout the hotel how they avoid use of plastics wherever possible too, which is a very positive element. The cookery class back at the hotel was excellent, we learnt how to prepare and cook a 3 course traditional Thai meal and had the bonus of being able to sit down together and enjoy each course as it was ready, it really was fantastic and absolutely delicious! Chef Jino tasted our dishes too and was impressed with balance and flavour so seems we didn’t do too badly! Overall this hotel experience for us was one of the best we have ever enjoyed, the food, ambiance, service and style of the whole place was truly excellent and did not disappoint, we have stayed in some pretty decent hotels when travelling over the years but this really stood out and the team at the Golden Triangle should be extremely proud of what they are delivering here, it is honestly wonderful and perfect for a special occasion destination. Thank you to all working so hard here to bring the very best to your customers, you are certainly achieving your goals!

We are thrilled to receive such positive feedback and are delighted to hear that your experience with us was truly outstanding. We stayed at the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort in Chiang Rai, a luxury hotel themed all around elephants. I learned that the Golden Triangle is a reference to the intersection of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar. Upon arriving, we were greeted with a person playing drums and necklaces with elephants' beads as we were introduced to the resort. It was by far the most luxurious (and most expensive) place I had ever stayed at. Everything from the room to the dining area to the pool was very nice, and the pool even had a view out over the grasslands where you could see the elephants. After we settled in, we got dinner and Thai massages. The massage was a very enjoyable experience. It came complimentary with our hotel package, and the women were very nice and allowed you to customize the experience as much as possible to keep you comfortable. It was about an hour and I left feeling very relaxed. We also did both the Walking with Giants and Jungle Bubble excursions which were incredible and highly recommended.

We loved our time at the Golden Triangle resort. The elephant experiences were life-changing, the staff is top notch, the food was delicious (& as a vegetarian, I appreciated the many options available), the facilities are well integrated into the local landscape. Overall, we had an amazing experience and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for an immersive, bucket list experience in Thailand.

Here on honeymoon, haven’t actually left yet, but we’ve had the most INCREDIBLE experience, almost like I’ve reached a heaven of some sort. Whilst it’s easy to admire the Elephants which were out of this world, we did walking with giants and Elephant Guardian activities. jumbo was such a funny mahoot! Not just this but I want to point out how the hotel food, facilities, rooms and finally the staff are just unbelievably friendly and attentive. I am determined to come back in the future. Love Chris and Julia

A truly unique experience at a five star hotel at an elephant camp. Wonderful property with large, nicely furnished and well equipped rooms. The food and service were outstanding. All the staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The walk with the elephants is a memorable experience. We also fully enjoyed the Spice Spoons cooking school with the head chef. This is a hands on half day class and not a demonstration and you get to enjoy what you cook. This resort was one of the highlights of our trip to Thailand and should not to be missed. The prices may seem high but the total experience is well worth it.

The hotel has outstanding service standards and this rather than the elephants sets it apart. Indeed it was not what I was expecting, in that I thought this would be an elephant version of Giraffe Manor! Clearly elephants are massive creatures and contact with guests needs to be on a controlled basis. That being said we thoroughly enjoyed our walk with three elephants down to the river. Perhaps the highlight of our stay was getting up early and going to the local market with “Jino”, the head chef. He is a charming and engaging man and we enjoyed both the market and the cooking class that followed. I also enjoyed my ride through the countryside in the sidecar of the hotel’s motorcycle. The restaurant food is good and sitting outside and having our evening drinks with the torches blazing, was always a treat. The pool is extremely nice and was generally empty. We were there after Chinese New Year and it was quiet; a good time to visit. Negatives - it is quite a drive from Chiang Mai, the bedrooms are of reasonable size but are not as big or grand as you would expect for the price, some of the wooden decorative pieces around the balcony need repair, it is a two storey building and our room was a walk from the restaurant. Would I go back? Yes.

Dear Robert_hsj, Warm greetings from Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that you found our service standards outstanding and that you enjoyed the unique aspects of your stay. It is heartening to know that your walk with our gentle giants, early morning market visit with Chef Jino, and the countryside sidecars ride left a positive impression. We are glad you appreciated the culinary experience and the ambiance of our restaurant, especially the evenings by the pool. Your constructive feedback regarding the size of the bedrooms, wooden decorative pieces, and the distance from Chiang Mai is duly noted. We came for the Elephants but were inspired by the environment, facilities, and staff. With a 5-night stay we were able to experience almost all the resort has to offer. Opting for the "Explorer arrival" I worried it would feel "over the top" but instead was a wonderful experience and really set the stage for a wonderful stay. We chose the resort for the elephant experiences and they certainly delivered! In the world we live in these elephants really are living their best lives. Numerous opportunities with direct interaction with these wonderful animals and a genuine education from the staff, guides, and mahouts. On top of this, breathtaking sights and sounds, meticulously maintained property, tasty food, and attentive staff. The Anantara Golden Triangle earned its high marks and price tag. Highlights were the quality of activities. Talented guides and personalized tours with small size (if not one-on-one). Quality of food was excellent and great service. Depending on plan, it may get a little confusing on what is and what is not included can be a touch confusing but manageable. The only comment we have is the main restaurant has the same menu for lunch as dinner which can risk being redundant. Additionally the second restaurant is not included in the plan and though they suggest there is additional charge, in reality it is full price with no "adjustment" for dining plan. We still really enjoyed going to that restaurant and would do it again but.....could manage the value a little better. But these were very small comments in an otherwise lifetime experience for us. Thanks to the entire team from Bartenders to Mahouts! I hope we can visit again!

We stayed at Anantara Elephant Camp for three nights during our honeymoon. The reservations, check-in, and arrival were all great! The hotel itself is beautiful and you really feel like you are out in the middle of the jungle with the elephants around in the distance. Unfortunately the food and service ruined the experience for us. The bar and restaurant were out of many items that we tried to order. The food staff seemed busy and confused, often bringing the wrong food to the wrong people. One night at dinner we sat for 20 minutes before anybody came to give us menus or take our order. To make things worse, my wife got food poisoning from something she ate there, so the last two days of our stay she could not even leave the room because she was weak and had horrible stomach problems. When we checked out, the front desk staff asked if she was okay... but we think they maybe should have offered something to compensate for all of her problems and our bad experience. We had to cancel two days of tours/activities because she could not leave the room. Unfortunate because the hotel and location are beautiful and the pool and tours and activities seem great too, but the food and service ruined our stay.
