Velero Beach Resort was the first luxury Cabarete hotel to be built and the visionary architect chose the best location on the entire beach to build. Our grounds are sheltered from the wind for the non-windsurfers, but 5 meters into the water the windsurfer or kiter will have access to the trade winds. Velero Beach Resort is the only one of the Cabarete hotels to have a small reef right out front that forms shallow tidal pools at low tide. These are perfect for the toddlers to play in protected from the waves. Our restaurant is also the only one in Cabarete that is directly on the water for perfect sunsets!

At any given time there are 10-20 people around the pool. You will recognize your fellow guests in just a day. Beautiful crystal clear pool. As the facility is on the east point of Cabarete, the view of the ocean is unobstructed. But just a few hundred yards from the main mayhem

Tucked away down a garden path, this hotel offers a secluded feel, yet walkable to downtown Cabarete’s nightlife and happenings. The hotel offers one of the classier stays on the North Coast with good linens, respectful staff and a lovely coast-facing garden lounge area and pool.

This hotel is a respectable hotel and that type of thing isn’t what goes on at the Valero.

Actually, they do have a small beach between the pool and the ocean (management has a photo with some blue chairs lined up by a short retaining wall - very true liking). The hotel grounds are a bit elevated, so there is a short retaining wall and three steps down to the beach. And miles of beach walking to either side of the hotel. Just have to go over some rocks (or swim) if you want to go to the left. I'm a beach person myself, but I loved this set-up. You are three steps up from the beach, so have a luxury of a great view and fancy beds and yet very close to the ocean and the sand if you wish to. We had no trouble having chairs down on the sand for a while and then coming back up. If you happen to be there during local holidays with hundreds of locals coming down to the beach (they are all public in Dominican), you'll really appreciate the option of being close to the ocean yet up within your resort, away from the crowd. There is a security guard usually standing at the stairs to the beach. They have an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, too, which makes it really nice... Gorgeous setting and very convenient. It gives you an option/ best of both worlds.

Hi Cocoloco, You can rent a car at the airport or hire a driver. We have several drivers that work with us, they are reliable, have new vehicles with wifi, and speak English. We can arrange your pickup at the airport, and return if you'd like. The drive from Santo Domingo is not bad, but if you won't need the car while in Cabarete, it's probably a better idea to use a driver.
