We were making a quick journey of exploration into the hills west of Castellon (and thus, northwest of Valencia), in Spain. We booked this hotel by chance, suspecting - correctly as it turned out - that Onda would be too built-up and clogged by slow-moving traffic to be an attractive place to rest our heads. The advantage was that we discovered Suera, hidden in the hills to the west. Visitors need to know that the Hotel Verdia is tightly enclosed in the narrow streets of the centre of the village, and if you arrive by car, the passengers must be dropped off and the driver must park some 250 metres away. The hotel owners were extremely helpful, and we enjoyed a good supper. Having thus tasted the delights of the kitchen, it was a disappointment to find next day that the breakfast (albeit included in the price) consisted of dry toast, mass-produced mini-packs of margarine and jam, and cellophane-wrapped cakes. Our room was spotlessly clean and the whole hotel has some nice furnishings... More

The manager and the staff of this hotel made you feel appreciated and welcome. Very nice rooms, clean and attractive. I very much enjoyed my stay at this excellent hotel and the small, quiet, friendly village of Sueras! Loved the hike up into the hills outside of town to the ruins of an old, mystic castle in the distance.

“Our room (front, top) would have been idyllically quiet were it not for some locals (not guests, we believe) talking animatedly in the street outside until midnight. We're sure this was a one-off, probably connected with the imminent local elections.”
