Lugar perfeito! Perfect place! Very romantic, pretty...

San Agustin de Callo is one of the most incredible places I have ever stayed! The staff were so helpful and attentive, the rooms and grounds were beautiful. My husband and I felt completely pampered. The history behind the Hacienda makes it that much more incredible. It was incredible to learn about the Incan walls and former ownership. We enjoyed...

My wife and I stayed here for my birthday. We were hesitant to stay here as its price tag is so high, but being the history dork I am I couldn't resist staying in an old Incan stronghold. We we arrived we were greeted and given an upgrade to a suite which was simply amazing. Shortly there after we were...

This is a unique jewel of a hotel. The original Inca walls that have been incorporated into the structure of this colonial hacienda offers an even more special touch. The grounds and working farm with the Cotopaxi Volcano in the background are postcard picture gorgeous. We enjoyed riding the horses and visiting the nearby rose plantation. The hotel really makes...

If you're in Quito and can spare a night or two, go to this place. It's VERY expensive, but well worth the treat. Price includes gourmet food and other amenities. It's about an hour outside Quito in the middle of ranchland but right next to Cotopaxi. You're greeted by a very friendly person who's like a cruise director. She helps...

This hacienda is really breathtaking! All the suites have multiple rooms, each with a fireplace (even in the bathroom!) and are very luxuriously decorated. There are countless lovely details like hot water bottles at turn down and fresh roses everywhere. The hacienda is built on the remains of an old inca temple and some of the rooms and the dining...

Lovely hacienda even though still many parts are ruins/ clearly need work. It faces, amongst other volcanoes, the Cotopaxi, but be careful, it hardly ever is without clouds, whatever the season! All rooms (bedroom, bathroom, dining room, etc) are heated by wood fire, which is nice and peaceful (in line with the surroundings), but spending the night putting back wood...

Amazing place. Worth every penny. The grounds are lovely. The buildings are warm and cozy, and also awe-inspiring - eating by candlelight in a dining room with walls originally erected by the Incans is tough to beat. There are fireplaces in the rooms, and in some of the bathrooms. The staff was great, very helpful and always cheerful. The food...

It's worth navigating the dodgy surrounding roads to arrive at this attractive and extremely comfortable hacienda, with great views of Cotopaxi when the cloud cover clears. Everyone is helpful and welcoming, the public rooms are comfortable and lovely, the guest rooms large, well furnished and heated by log fires that crackle through most of the night. The floors and old...

As part of our 2 week trip in Ecuador, we spent our first week on a land tour winding our way down from Quito to Guayaquil. We spent a night in quito, one night in hacienda pinsaqui, and stopped here during our Cotopaxi excursions for two nights. Upon arrival we were greeted with a tour of the facilities and shown...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Since the 15th century San Agustin de Callo has served as an Inca fortress and palace and Augustinian monastery and was also temporary home of the French Geodesic Mission (1742) whose scientific work helped change the shape of the planet. Other famous visitors include the brilliant German scientist and explorer Alexander von Humboldt and English mountain climber Edward Whymper. In 1912 the Hacienda was purchased by General Leonidas Plaza Gutierrez, leader of the liberal Revolution and two-time President of Ecuador. With only eleven rooms, it is one of the most romantic spots for honeymoons and other special occasions. San Agustin de Callo constitutes the only lived in museum of Inca Imperial and Spanish Colonial style. Surrounded by the smoke-blackened Inca walls of the dining room, one can marvel at the infinite precision of the stonemasonry, a monument to the unrivalled craftsmanship of the Incas, and admire the stunning view of Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano in the world. The peaceful atmosphere and magical landscape combine to make San Agustin a sanctuary of inspiration for artists and lovers of nature and a restful haven for weary travelers ... more   less
