A great hotel and spa with stunning views of the bay and a very nice garden. The spa is so refreshing and relaxing. The dinner was fabulous so don't eat a big lunch and save room for all of the exciting courses they offer. This hotel is more for couples without children. A very nice venue for a romantic getaway!... More

During our whole stay we feld so relaxed and valued. We were warmly welcomed at the hotel entrance on arrival by taxi, which took less than 5 min from the JR Matushima Station. The hotel has a large, beautiful garden where you can take a comfortable walk. The sunrise we could experience from the outdoor onsen was beyond description. Dinner... More

Superb ryokan with dramatic onsen and buffet dinner. Recommended reserve bay view room. This hotel has very nice staffs. You can walk to temple and shopping area about 700 meters. We rented a car for this trip. (Rented at sendai shinkansen station).

After reading the reviews below I was very hopeful but as soon as we entered this place I knew I'd made a big mistake. There's no luxury - it's dated, tacky and expensive. Rooms have a pleasant view but they don't compare with the expansive views from Hotel Taikanso where we stayed before, on the hill. Firstly, there's a very... More

We got married here on December 1, 2015. Everything was wonderful, staffs were very helpful and attentive, food was fresh and tasty and the great view from the room. We married in Shinto style in ocean view shrine here, and had wonderful dinner with all the guests. Special thanks to Komaba san, Hayashi san, and Ryo san are exceptional staff... More

We recently stayed two nights at Hotel Ichinobo while in Matsushima. It's a beautiful hotel with great views and delicious food. Rooms are traditional with tatami mats and a choice of futon or mattress for sleeping. Both were comfortable. The view from the room is amazing, overlooking the swimming pool, garden, chapel, and bay. Service was excellent and friendly. In... More

Luxury is how I’d describe my recent stay at Matsushima Inchinobo. As a Sendai local I’ve visited Matsushima many times but I’ve never stayed before and I’m glad I did. I was picked up by the hotel shuttle bus at Matsushima station and warmly greeted at the front desk. As you walk in the foyer you realise how huge the... More

I stayed here in August 2015. I think this hotel is a great choice for Americans and Europeans. It has all the comfort of a modern hotel but still is uniquely Japanese. The staff did their best to communicate and there is a reasonable amount of English signage and guidance. The traditional-style tatami rooms are luxurious and tremendously spacious for... More

We found this hotel through Fodor, the travel guide. They described it as, "this posh, expensive resort hotel has a gorgeous garden that stays illuminated at night, luxurious touches from top to bottom." Maybe in 1980, but definitely not in 2012! What a big disappointment. This was towards the end of our 3 week tour of Japan and we had... More
