Detailed Reviews

Location: The location of the lodge has amazing natural views, positioned as a nest between the rainforest, the mountain, the river stream....and easily located once you reach the vicinity of the rainforest.
Accommodation: I have stayed in many lodges in Uganda during my visits to the national parks and safaris, I must admit the ambiance of the room was just very cosy, and attention to all small details has been looked into, it is second to none.
Food: The quality, quantity and taste of all our meals was just perfect, it is pretty much of a 5 star hotel standards, and the chef can prepare anything for you, as long as you give them enough notice, the grass fed beef steak was very juicy, tender yet cooked to perfection with a very delicious pepper mushroom sauce, and the home made soups for starters were just the right items to have in the cold evenings.
Service: The General Manager Mr. Zubaidi was checking on me throughout our journey to make sure I am not lost and reach the lodge safe & sound, Mr.Abraham who was the F&B incharge made sure all our needs are taken care of, even our packed lunch during the trekking was made passion and a special touch, without forgeting anything.
Mr.Safari & Mr.Cyprian were just simply a world class of customer service professionals, always there to address any questions or concerns we have.
Hygiene: The entire place ia spotless, hand sanitisers are strategically located in key touch points, the entire vicinity of the lodge is kept very clean, including the gardens, walk paths and other access areas.
Overall: The team of MSL have made our stay truly memorable and we would 100% revisit again and also take our friends and guests with high recommendation.

Mahogany Springs was our second lodge along our journey and they upgraded us to the honeymoon suite!
The room:
Our room was tucked into the forest with a gorgeous view that felt very private. We had a spacious bathroom with a large shower and even a garden tub. They had hot water for the shower and even had shampoo and bodywash for us. They had slippers by the bed and even a mini fridge in the room! Our porch overlooked the forest and had a nice couch that you could sit on and enjoy the view. This was the only lodge during our visit that offered Wi-Fi in the room and it had good connection. There was also plenty of outlets in the room to allow for charging phones and cameras.
The service:
All staff were very welcoming and pleasant from the moment we arrived. They have a nice porch where you can relax and enjoy drinks while overlooking the forest and a firepit right below with seating. The bar has liquor, beer and wine available as well. They had plenty of staff around tending to all guests that were there. They also turndown your room while you’re enjoying dinner so you go back to your mosquito net set and hot water bottles in bed to prep your bed for a comfortable night sleep!
The food:
We enjoyed dinner, breakfast and a take-away lunch from this location. All meals were well prepared and the dinner area allows for small tables to be tucked away or a large table for big groups in the middle.
Overall:
We enjoyed our 1 night at this location and would recommend staying here for travelers who are visiting that want to be connected to Wi-Fi in their room. They also have two resident cats that I personally loved see walking the grounds. You know they are taking care of business being on property and they don't bother the guests.

From the very minute we were picked up from the airport by our transfer, until we left 4 days later, our time at Mahogany Springs was exceptional.
The staff could not have done anymore for us, so super-friendly, and on hand for anything we needed, as well as being knowledgeable about the area, full of facts and tips of things for us to do and really seemed to care.
The lodge itself is beautiful, with views of the forest that are second to none, as well as the stunning garden that they have there. The room was ideal, spacious with all necessary amenities and were cleaned daily, with a turn-down service, that included a hot water bottle! They think of everything.
Barrie and Josephine had helped us book not only the gorilla permits, but also the flights from Entebbe beforehand, which was a huge help and the gorilla trekking exceeded all expectations. We never believed we would get as close as we did to the gorillas and see so many, Mahogany Springs gave us a packed lunch for the trek and when we returned from the adventure the staff were waiting for us at the entrance with fresh face and hand towels (needed) and they even cleaned our incredibly muddy shoes for us…such a nice touch.
The food was excellent, as was the wine from the bar.
The lodge also organised for us to go to the Women's Community Centre, which was a real eye opener, as well as a community walk, I would recommend both.
Mahogany Springs also gives back to the community by employing local people , which is a really important point to highlight.
I cannot rate Mahogany Springs any higher and I thank you all for making our experience in Bwindi one of the best trips we've taken.

My husband, son, and I stayed at Mahogany springs for two nights for gorilla trekking in Bwindi. Upon arrival, the staff provided us with delicious juice and a thorough run down of the lodge and it’s amenities. They also were lovely and provided us an upgrade to the presidential suite offering us more space as a family which was a really amazing update.
Our porch offered amazing views for bird watching and also to relax after a long day of trekking. The rooms were tidy with a turn down service every night, high quality shower with toiletries provided, as well as robes and slippers.
The staff were absolutely incredible, with constant happiness and smiling faces, but most notably Abraham and David who made our stay and our meals incredibly pleasant and warm and welcoming every step of the way. David even entertained my limited bird watching skills and helped me identify the birds I captured randomly during the day.
The food was incredible for every meal of the day and the staff was always willing to bring me an early morning coffee to my room if needed. The manager was also excellent and gifted us with adorable gorilla keychains on our last day. He also provided printed copies of our covid tests as soon as they were available for us to use on our flight the next day. Our stay at Mahogany springs will be a key reason why our trip to Uganda was so amazing. Thanks to the staff for everything!

I stayed with my parents in this stunning lodge organized through Wild Run Uganda, a community-focused tourism organisation. The warm and attentive hospitality far exceeded expectations with the staff going above and beyond to ensure our stay was a five-star experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable with hot showers (a rarity in Uganda) and had a beautiful deck overlooking the Bwindi Impenetrable Forrest where one can sit in peace and view the exquisite birds from the neighbouring National Park. Thank you, Mahogany Springs, I would recommend this lodge to all.

What a wonderful place to stay . The staff are excellent and really make an effort to make you comfortable. Nothing is too much to ask. When returning from the exhausting gorilla trek the staff will clean your boots and anything else especially as it often rains. There is also a fireplace to enjoy a drink or 2 . The food was good. The lunch packs where really filling and I would highly recommend this lodge . It’s within walking distance to the actual start of trek. I would like to thank the manager Subedi and his staff for making our stay most comfortable and memorable .

Our time at Mahogany Springs was incredible! My husband and I stayed at this resort for two nights during our time in Bwindi. This lodge is so gorgeous. The grounds are lovely and the wildlife in and around the lodge is fantastic. We stayed in the bird view room and my husband’s favorite photos of birds from the whole trip were from the balcony of this room! The service was amazing. They did our laundry, walked us to our room in the evenings when it was dark, had incredible turn down service, and always had hot tea available to us! The food was amazing. We ate so well here! The two people tending to us here, Abraham and Cyprian, were lovely. They took great care of us! My husband had a cough just from traveling (no COVID here!), and Abraham made him hot lemon water with honey and told him to try it, and my husband felt so much better! The manager was also very attentive and gave us two sweet gorilla keychains as we left. We also adored the resort’s friendly cats, Diana and Bill. An excellent resort to stay in while you’re enjoying the gorillas and local people in Bwinidi!!

My room was very comfortable and the dining /patio area was also a good place to relax and meet other guests. the staff were very attentive. Thank you in particular to Brenda for the great conversations. The food was really good. However I found that after arrival late morning and a three course lunch I was not able to eat every one of the four courses for dinner.

Hotel was clean in an amazing location, staff was great, and WiFi worked well.
First. Location, location, location.
The hotel is only a few minute drive from the main entrance of Bwindi national forest so we were extremely close to where we started the gorilla treking.
To get to the hotel from Entebbe we took an afternoon flight from EBB to Kihihi airport. This is important because most international flights arrive to EBB in the AM, and Aerolink has a flight around noon to Kihihi, so you don't need to spend another day in EBB to get to the resort. Travel timing for our Qatar flight was perfect.
The view at the hotel was fantastic and was on a small river so after the gorilla trekking it was completely relaxing to have a cocktail, listen to the river, and check out the view.
The staff was almost tooo helpful. The rooms were meticulously clean, beds were turned down daily, and the staff prepared HUGE lunches for our gorilla trekking.
I suggest using the hotel for the gorilla trekking permits also. The vehicle on site was a converted Toyota Land Cruiser. It was HUGE, clean and comfortable. They obtain the permits, drive you to the park, and coordinate with the gorilla guides to ensure the hike matches the fitness level of the participants.
In the end.. the gorilla trekking was amazing. Really a trip of a lifetime. Uganda is a little far from Florida, but worth the experience. Amazing.

Beautiful lodge on the edge of the Impenetrable Forest, good food and incredibly helpful staff.
We flew into Bwindi from Entebbe and we’re picked up by the lodge. It’s two hours on a bumpy dirt road but once we made it to the lodge we could relax - great showers in the rooms and great food.
We got up early to meet our distant relatives and after a briefing by the rangers we set off into the rain forest. Incredibly we found our apes after only an hour or so and managed to spend an unforgettable hour with them. It had been raining heavily the night before and the hike back out was not for the faint hearted. Gardening Gloves and boots and gaiters really earnt their keep. Thankfully walking poles were provided by the lodge. I recommend hiring a local porter, I wouldn’t have gotten up the mountain without him.
Barry’s team at the lodge were excellent and the charming manager even managed to help us change our flights out at the last minute. It was the proverbial trip of a lifetime.
Strongly recommend!

Good Afternoon Sal,
Thank you for your enquiry.
In Bwindi it is very hard to predict the climate. The temperature can literally start as pretty cold in the morning, warming up by lunchtime, hot by 2-3pm and then cold and chilly again by the evening, all in one day. It can also be lovely and sunny and then 5 minutes later a huge storm for 5 minutes and then hot again. So it is very hard to predict. Prepare for all weathers at all times of the year.
Feb is a very busy time, Nov in considered Low Season. Gorilla permits are on promotion in Low season reduced down to $350 per permit instead of the usual $600. Also Accommodation is cheaper in November as we offer Low Season rates. Gorilla viewing is generally the same all year.
We do not have fireplaces in the room as this would be unsafe. We do have one in the main building which we put on in the evening.
We have lights in all the rooms and plug sockets. We have a generator which powers the lodge but we are also linked up to hydropower. When the hydropower is working we have 24 hour power, if it is not working then we use the generator and turn this off when all clients are sleeping or outside the lodge. We do have lanterns and torches.
We look forward to hosting you at Mahogany Springs.
Hi Maggie, we can either do both depending on your time of return from trekking. However I would suggest that if time allows we go to the school and give the books as this would give you an opportunity to talk to the children and their teachers, also they would highly appreciate to have your presence.
Regards
Lodge General Manager
