Jagatram Niwas is a family-run homestay guesthouse situated in the rural village of Heini, in the foothills of the Himalayas - 25 minutes from McLeodganj, home of the Dalai Lama. Jagatram Niwas offers the peace and quiet of an authentic village homestay, away from the hustle and bustle of the increasingly commercialised Dharamsala, McLeodganj, Bhagsu and Dharamkot areas. We offer beautiful surroundings, eleven stylish rooms and we serve traditional Himachali meals. Jagatram Niwas is an ideal base for sightseeing and trekking. We guarantee a warm welcome, comfortable accommodation and a wide choice of excursions and activities. We are located out of town though, so guests should be prepared for some walking during their stay!

I really enjoyed my stay at Jagatram Niwas Homestay Guesthouse. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and stylish. The views were also incredible. It's also a pretty quiet place but still close to great cafes, restaurants, yoga studios and hikes. I would definitely come back.

Jagatram Niwas was exactly what I wanted. It’s a lovely guesthouse with beautiful views down the valley, very quiet and peaceful, tucked away above the main town. My room was very nice and clean. The owner is nice and helpful. Really easy to get to the Triund hike, and other hiking areas. Be prepared for a steep walk up and down the hill from the guesthouse to get to town, and also be advised that you can’t reach the guesthouse by car so you will have to walk with your luggage for the last 15 minutes—but it is well worth it for the beautiful, serene setting!

This guesthouse is really nice, the rooms are very cute and cosy, the views are amazing, and the tranquillity of the place is so good! We stay here for long term and we are very happy, the family is beautiful and the area is really mountain feeling. Bhagsu is pretty busy so is nice to be able to come here and disconnect from all that. Also people that normally stays in this guest house are quite and respectful what is really appreciated. We really recommend this place to be relax and enjoy the mountain....

I along with my Mom and Dad, stayed at Jagatram Niwas in the beginning of March-2018 just for 4 days. A beautiful scenic place in the Dhauladhar mountain range. We felt we were in a different world, very serene and peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai’s fast paced city life governed by the clock. As soon we reached Mcleod Ganj, we had a taxi (arranged by Mr.Bavinder on request) waiting to take us by the motorable road upto Heena Café. Then Mr. Bavinder’s son came to show us the way. The walk to the home is up and down the hill, through the village, fields and cattle shed, from some villagers’ backyard or frontward but worth all the effort. Our room on the top floor had a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and the village below. Rooms are reasonably rated which includes breakfast. Moreover there is a separate kitchen which came in very handy for making our early morning tea and coffee and hot water. Even there is a water filter, so we could fill our bottles before leaving on sight-seeing. The host, Mr. Bavinder, very warm and hospitable. The evening home-cooked hot meals by Mrs. Rekhaji, – Mr. Bavinder’s wife, very enjoyable. On our request, Mr. Bavinder arranged for taxi service (very safe and cautious drivers – thanks to Kamlesh, Anu and Sandy) for our sightseeing and onward travel. Thanks for everything Mr. Bavinder and many thanks to your family. Thanks to Mr. Mathew for sparing a few minutes of his precious time to inquire about our stay. We will always remember our stay at Jagatram Niwas – indeed a home away from home and will definitely try to come again.

The guesthouse is a really lovely place with probably the best view of the valley. Very nice rooms, charming people! A peaceful and quiet place upper in the mountain, by walking near to Bhagsu, Dharamkot. I stayed 5 weeks there and I am eager to go back!

My son had stayed here twice and recommended it!! I was not disappointed!! The host Bavinder Singh was terrific. He arranged to pick me up and to take me back to the airport. The location is great, though not handicapped accessible. After taking a Tuk tuk you had to walk about a half a mile. An employee met and led me upon my arrival. The walk and locale added to rather than detracted from the experience. It is located outside of Dharmkot "a Hippie village" with meditation center Tushita. Bavinder, his family, and employees, especially Matthew did everything in their power to accommodate me.Very quiet, peaceful, with a fantastic view and nearby sights.. Reasonable rates that included breakfast. Bavinder invited me to dine with his family in their quarters my last night. I was one of the highlights of my 30 daty journey in Nepal and India!!!

I had a really great stay here. The family and staff are very friendly. The breakfast is great. Good WIFI and hot showers. The atmosphere was really nice and peaceful, its a great place to return to after a day of hiking or a day amongst the hustle and bustle of Bagsu/McCleod Ganj. The house is set up on the hill so it's a pretty hard walk up from town but very doable and part of why it feels like such an escape. I met some super interesting and friendly fellow travellers here and i would definitely stay again.
