This is our second year at Massereau. We stayed for 2 weeks with our 4 kids (13,10,8,5) and we all love staying at Massereau, we have already booked to come back next year :)

Massereau is a smaller site than most of the chain sites (Yelloh/Sandaya) in France, it is a lot more relaxed - they don't have loud night time shows, in the evening its great food in the restaurant & wine! A car is a must, they are 2km from Sommieres itself, the old cycleway takes you straight in to the historic town.

Massereau have some activities for the kids for a couple of hours each day but it's not a traditional kids club setup. You can always find a sun lounger in the middle of the summer season and the pools are great for all ages. We have stayed at lots of French sites and I cannot recommend Massereau highly enough. A lot of the team where the same last year and always smiling, it really is a great place to go on holiday.

A couple of tips:

We really enjoyed the Kayak Tribu, Kayaking down from Sommieres to Saint-Series; the water level was lower this year that made it more difficult but they also do paddle boarding and it's nice to swim in the river at Saint-Series.

This was a tip from another regular at Massereau but we enjoyed the beach at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer; it's not a busy as some of the other beaches we've been to.

We enjoyed visiting Nimes much more than Montpellier, in our opinion it has more on offer.

We are looking forward to coming back in August 2024!

Overall a lovely site. Most likely the smallest we have been on over the years holidaying in France. We were with Eurocamp and everything from their aspect was great. Our plot was fantastic and the new part of the site is great. The pools were good although smaller than the photos would make you believe and I do feel they could have been cleaner. The adult only pool was nice and a good addition however the pool team seemed quite relaxed about kids being in there during the day and didn’t monitor it that much. Campsite staff overall are helpful and friendly. The cycle path that runs past the site is great for running/cycling. Simmered is a lovely town.
One aspect that lets the site down though is the fact that there is no option to buy pizza/chips/snacks in an evening. The bar stops selling food at 2pm so if one evening you don’t feel like cooking the only option is the restaurant which you need to book 3/4 days in advance. Not ideal if arriving on a Sunday either when the supermarkets are closed. Site shop is small and very expensive. There is a Pizza van that opens on a Tuesday when the restaurant is closed however you have to pre-order pizza during the day and this is not advertised at all..we found out when it was too late.
We really enjoyed our holiday but as seasoned visitors to France we know what we want/need/expect and a couple of aspects would probably prevent us from returning here.

So pleased to be back this year after missing last year due to the last minute decision by UK Government to insist we had to isolate on return just as we were about to leave for our holiday! We were so disappointed. We have been staying here since 2014 and each year it just gets better and better!
The pool area is luxurious and such a good idea to have an adults only pool. The attendance of pool staff ensure that rules are followed and being on poolside is a pleasant and safe experience for all.
The atmosphere is relaxing and I totally switch off here.
The pitches are large and mostly shaded. This year we took our tent but have stayed in the cabins which were also really nice.
The increase in pitches and accommodation has not spoilt this 5 star site and there have many little improvements too to make life easier such as the app where you can book the restaurant and receive notifications etc. We also like the fact that fresh bread and pastries no longer need to be ordered in advance.
The restaurant is outstanding value and serves delicious meals. We ate here several times and were never disappointed.
All the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and put up with my terrible French!
A wonderfully relaxing stay! Thank you Gilles and all your staff! See you again in 2023!

The area - The site is just a few kilometres from the attractive town of Sommieres which has a lot of markets/wine fairs and other events during the high season. The site provides easy access to the coastal resorts and the fine cities of Nice and Montpellier
The site - Most of the camping and static lodges are in the older part of the site and are very well shaded by trees. The toilet/shower facilities in this part of the site were average. We thought this area was a little claustrophobic and crowded and we were pleased we didn't book one of these pitches. There is a newer area of the site which has a mix of very sunny, large camping pitches which offer very little shade. There are also 'high end' lodges located here which looked very nice
We chose a 'grand lux' premium pitch in this area at a cost of around £70 per night.
This was very disappointing and very poor value. The pitch was large and sunny. It was impossible to use the waste water drainage point because it had been located higher than any area of the pitch where you good locate a large caravan (waste water will not go up hill!!). The supplied fridge was good but was contained in a poorly designed cupboard which you could not close the door. The plancha didn't work when we tried it and the wifi included in the price was not available. The reception staff quickly arranged for the plancha and wifi to be fixed but for the price we paid this should not have been necessary
The air conditioned showers/toilets etc in this area were excellent
The water complex was first class. We particularly liked the fact that there was a pool exclusively for adults. The flooring around some areas of the pools does get scalding hot and something needs to be done to prevent this
The shop was very well stocked
The pizza and takeaway (which we didn't use) appeared very popular.
The special evening at the restaurant (Gypsy Guitars) was very poorly organised and the meal was below par and poor value
The restaurant menu was good and the food was excellently prepared, presented and served In our experience the price was more than you would pay in many of the restaurants in the cities, towns and resorts of this area

We paid at least twice the price of any other campsite during our month travelling in France. Our pitch was bare dirt which as it was very dry, when the wind blew it got everything covered in dust and dirt. The pitch also had hairbands, bottle tops and paper rubbish on it. Not exactly the 5 star pitch you would expect. The pool area is very good but if you hope to have a Magnum ice cream expect to pay the price, nearly double what we have paid at other camps.
It’s one 5 star element however would have to be the new sanitation block which has air con and even spa music, so you can at least have a shower to wash away all the dust from your pitch in an area of a bit of tranquility

I already saw it in other reviews but its true: the staff is Great, beyond the level of great. The speak English fluently and are there to help you with all your questions. The park is beautiful with a lot of activities in the app to book. We enjoyed the pool & 18+ area, but also the horse riding was wonderful. They treat the horses so well. I would definitely recommend it! The only con is that the bike rental is very expensive (15 euro per half day).

We travelled up from our tour of Spain and was really looking forwards to a return visit to this campsite. We arrived hot and tired. The reception soon found the pitch we had stayed with family 2016. However we were using Acsi and this was only possible at €42 per night. Acsi €22.
The only pitch available was little more than a carpark space.
We decided to move on after we had tried for half hour to fill up with water for the motorhome. Back at reception we were told we needed a coin to operate this.
The upset was that reception could see we were struggling in the blistering heat and my husband was not well.
We left and found a delightful site 5 minutes away at Junas €16 per night.
We have used Acsi and found some sites agreeable and others who maybe should consider if they really want Acsi custom.

Hello, thank you for your comment which holds our full attention. First of all, we would like to point out to our readers that you did not stay at our campsite, due to a lack of available space at the ACSI rate. We offer the tokens to fill up water and electricity to all our residents, so you were not in this situation since you left to stay in the small neighboring campsite. To conclude, our partnership with ACSI is doing wonderfully, we are allocating part of the park, and it is often full!! Do not hesitate during a next trip to book, this will avoid any problem on arrival. Looking forward to seeing you again at Camping du Domaine de Massereau.

This is one of, if not, the best site we've stayed on. Domaine de Massereau is a beautiful, very well maintained, relaxing site with a very laid back feel. The pool area is fantastic, the bar is lovely and the restaurant is excellent.

The pitches themselves are very generously sized, as is the site in general. The site owners haven't crammed as many emplacements in as possible and this makes a huge difference to the feel of the place.

Sommieres itself is a gorgeous town and really easy to get to from the site.

We loved it so much we've already booked a fortnight there next year. Would 100% recommend.

We enjoyed the spacious campground with the facilities of water, electricity and a fridge. There is a pleasant atmosphere at the camping, with personnel being friendly and very helpful.
The pool area is great, with fun slides, a covered heated pool and adult area. It was nice to also find other activities as table tennis, trampolines, a basketball court and lots of trees in the domain to bring shade.

Having been to massereau camping before I had high expectations.
What a shame, in the years since before lock down it has gone right down hill.
There are not enough sun beds for the amount of people, the pool is constantly murky, (this not a reflection on the pool staff as they are always making water checks) also there is a horrible stagnant smell around the pool, it just looks dirty. This should be addressed quickly as I’m sure this is a health risk.
Unfortunately most of the old bar staff have left & been replaced by extremely rude staff who talk to the customers badly & with little patience.
Masseraeu has so much going for it, the new over 18’s pool is luxury (much cleaner than the main pool) and as always the restaurant is fantastic, the campsite is deserving of its high rating but it is definitely slipping in standard.
Such a shame. I don’t think I will be back. Cleanliness is very important…

I'm afraid the site was sold and the new owners have no comms if you had booked to camp.think again as none of the bookings seem to have been carried forward . Yay good old marvilla

Hi Fiona Welcome to the club . I booked last year and even emailed as it was transferring to marvilla. I phone them every week. I email every week. Never get replies to emails. I was told every week for the last 11 that next week they'd open.for camping . Sadly this never happens so like you my holiday appears to be a no go. Marvilla tell me they bought the site and while doing so they merged with homeair. I've left reviews on every forum and site saying basically wake up marvilla. It's a total shambles and frankly I am unhappybwuth the old owner who took bookings and seems to have failed to ensure customers were protected. It's so disappointing.
