I been coming to this site for years - it is exactly what we need - Historically it has been consistent and good, not perfect but as close as I need. Why Have I left 2 stars???? Well it was sold at the end of 2023 and I along with hundreds of Campers had 'options' for the 2024 season. The procedure was always that you selected your pitch and then in November an email would arrive and you'd pay and hey presto your next years holiday was arranged in time for getting the best prices on the crossing and overnights for the journey. Not so now!!!!! I took an option as usual at the end of my holiday in 2023 ( we stay 4 weeks so I am a bit fussy re shade , location etc) . In november I waited for the email with the invoice to arrive - nothing . So I emailed ( before they changed the addresses to new company emails it seems) and I had a mail back saying they were a bit behind but I'd hear by the end of the month ...... Nothing so I wrote ..... nothing . In fact I emailed 17 times to every addres I have and still ........... nothing. Finally today I rang the help line , it connected I selected to speak to an English speaker ( who actually is not good at all re English) and I think I established that my own along with hundreds of others 'Options' are now ignored and the new owners Marilla expect me to call or log on to start again. except they do not guarantee the pitch as before . The promised call back has not happened and frankly I am baffled . Not a good start with a new owner - hopefully they will see this and go back to the massereau staff - find the options and honour the obligation made by the ex owner who sadly advised after he had sold up that he was doing so. Good luck regulars - if you find a way past the very poor coms and options are resolved please post it here or PM me . Marilla ------ wake up you have hundreds if not thousands of regualrs and you are letting them all down. I am sure you don't mean to annoy your entire regular client base ? Help my hoiday is now a mess - wow.

Property's Favourite Review
This is our second year at Massereau. We stayed for 2 weeks with our 4 kids (13,10,8,5) and we all love staying at Massereau, we have already booked to come back next year :) Massereau is a smaller site than most of the chain sites (Yelloh/Sandaya) in France, it is a lot more relaxed - they don't have loud night time shows, in the evening its great food in the restaurant & wine! A car is a must, they are 2km from Sommieres itself, the old cycleway takes you straight in to the historic town. Massereau have some activities for the kids for a couple of hours each day but it's not a traditional kids club setup. You can always find a sun lounger in the middle of the summer season and the pools are great for all ages. We have stayed at lots of French sites and I cannot recommend Massereau highly enough. A lot of the team where the same last year and always smiling, it really is a great place to go on holiday. A couple of tips: We really enjoyed the Kayak Tribu, Kayaking down from Sommieres to Saint-Series; the water level was lower this year that made it more difficult but they also do paddle boarding and it's nice to swim in the river at Saint-Series. This was a tip from another regular at Massereau but we enjoyed the beach at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer; it's not a busy as some of the other beaches we've been to. We enjoyed visiting Nimes much more than Montpellier, in our opinion it has more on offer. We are looking forward to coming back in August 2024!

This campsite is wonderful with one exception which I will deal with at the end. We loved - pool area has loads of sun loungers, no queueing and putting down towels necessary here, a fantastic plus for us - there were 2 slides into the main pool area and they were really great, we noticed that both adults and kids were loving them - there is a lovely outdoor adult only spa area which we never tired of including jacuzzi. Kids are allowed into it in the morning and everyone was happy with that arrangement - we loved the restaurant / bar area. Food was superior to any other 5* campsite that we have stayed at and reasonably priced. Pizza truck is great addition and a real hit for us. - nice little shop onsite doing the usual croissants etc - Massereau wine from own vineyard available and very nice. Nice touch that the bottle of wine was same price in shop as opened at bar - Staff are mainly young locals who were so helpful and friendly and seemed happy out - There is astro pitch for football, trampolines , ping pong, tennis . Not much by way of organised matches etc but kids didn't mind and in evening they all gathered on pitch to play soccer. - Very clean site, very safe - right on greenway for cycling, we used it a number of evenings to walk into Sommieres village for night market / food. we also hired bikes one day , as were were there in August it was extremely hot but otherwise bike trips are very manageable and safe - we spent 14 nights here and were sad to leave EXCEPT - Accommodation. We booked with Irish tour operator EuroCamps, we have never used them before and never will again. This is a 5* campsite and our assumption was that the accomodation would also be 5*. At best it was 3*. See the photos attached. It was so tired and dated, dark and dingy. We paid approx Eur220 per night in August. My main gripe here is why would the management of Domain de Massereau allow 3* accomodation on their 5* site ? The pictures on the Eurocamp website lead one to believe it is modern accomodation so buyer beware! Note this comment relates to just our accommodation on the site with this provider, the other mobile homes on site seemed more in keeping with the 5* site, from the outside anyway.

Camping du Domaine de Massereau is a fantastic holiday destination. Welcoming ,Clean , secure and safe site. They have great accommodation and placements plenty of room and space on all chalets and pitches. The restaurant where Michel the chef makes the best dishes and the restaurant staff always on the ball with service with a smile. The swimming and Spa area is a fantastic experience very family friendly. The location is very quite surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. It is a 30 min drive to the coast and big beaches. There is a lot of places local to visit lots of history in the local town of Sommieres.

This was our 8th visit to this wonderful site. We love the ambience and familiarity. The facilities along with the excellent restaurant are a treat. To site under the olive trees drinking a beer is a true delight. We did notice a rise in a few of the prices but well done to Gilles and all his staff for making our stay once more a real pleasure. Already booked for next year and can't wait.

This is one of, if not, the best site we've stayed on. Domaine de Massereau is a beautiful, very well maintained, relaxing site with a very laid back feel. The pool area is fantastic, the bar is lovely and the restaurant is excellent. The pitches themselves are very generously sized, as is the site in general. The site owners haven't crammed as many emplacements in as possible and this makes a huge difference to the feel of the place. Sommieres itself is a gorgeous town and really easy to get to from the site. We loved it so much we've already booked a fortnight there next year. Would 100% recommend.

We have been visiting Massereau for a number of years, both with our children when they were young and now on our own as a couple. The site is perfect for sight seeing, cycling, wine tasting, and just relaxing in the sun. Close enough to the shops to be convenient, far enough from the town for it not to impact on the tranquility of the site.

Lovely 12 night stay at one of their Eurocamp Avant lodge with family of 4. Pros: Very clean and tidy. Camping toilets and showers are spotless. Van is well spaced apart. Very quiet at night. Pool is a nice size for a small park. Slides and splash area for the children all ages. Indoor pool and outdoor pools. Always lounger available. Pretty quiet at some times even for August. 18+ warm, jets pool and lounge area a bonus to hide from the kids. Sunday night is pool night open until 10 pm great fun. Restaurant food is amazing and pretty reasonably priced for a treat. Take away pizzas available. Town of Sommieres pleasant walk 20-30 minutes along the old railway line. Bikes a must as cycle path goes for miles from camp in either direction. Available to hire. Plenty of places to visit nearby of interest. Park area and trampolines and sports pitch well used by younger and older teens alike. Very sociable in evening times. Weds and Sat market in Sommieres well worth a visit. Washing machines and all the cons available. Staff are friendly and helpful. Cons: No evening entertainment. Car is essential. No entertainment/ activities ran by staff like kids clubs.

A massive thanks to everyone working at the campsite for making our experience so special. The reception staff arranged our airport taxi transfers, helped move our luggage around and assisted with the organisation of a wheelchair. We loved the food (especially the crepes in the snack bar) and the friendliness of the staff. Thanks for a great holiday! A special thanks to John at Eurocamp for going the extra mile.
