The Guest house and museum First *** is a small family run inn with restaurant. We are located in the heart of Solcavsko area, at the very threshold of famous Logar valley (Logarska dolina) and only 2 km from the village Solcava. There in the embrace of green forest, peaks of Kamnisko-Savinjske Alps, Olseva mountain and Savinja river, the fifth generation of family First is continuing their more than 140 year tradition. We offer you 5 two bedded rooms and one three beded room. There is also Finnish sauna, mountain bike rental and our special relaxation area called "Ethnographic park Fidov gaj". In the Guest house First's museum are located permanent exhibition about "Potocka zijalka" cave (important Palaeolithic site) and exhibition "Health of patients - Folk medicine in the Upper Savinja valley". Culinary offers of our restaurant include traditional Slovenian homemade food, local specialties of Solcavsko area and Upper Savinja valley region (Zgornja Savinjska dolina) and also typical Central European dishes. The most known specialties are: fresh trout dishes, venison, homemade pasta and our domestic "Zgornjesavinjski zelodec".

Detailed Reviews
Our stay here was truly amazing! The hotel was great and the rooms had an amazing view on the valley- we had our own balcony! The food was delicious as well! The hike behind the hotel was gorgeous: you can visit a small cave on the mountain and rest on a small bench with a great view. It is located very close to the entrance of logar valley with beautiful hikes and waterfalls. Most importantly the owners are a family who are really helpful, kind and welcoming. I was really sick during our stay and the owners called the pharmacy, brought me tea and calming food. Overall a great stay, I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone coming in the area!

The guest house has a good position just along the road to Logarska valley. We didn't stay at the place, only stopped by to have a dinner after a hiking, as it looked to be a nice place from the outside. Food prices were affordable. Some elements of the restaurant environment look a bit old (80ies or even 70ies-style ceiling, for instance), but in general the place looked clean and comfortable. Nevertheless; what matters more is the food, which was very good indeed. The standard Central European food was available in the menu, but also some genuine regional stuff and a local fish, as well as some creations which I didn't find elsewhere (dessert, some kind of ravioli filled with dried pears, very good). Quality of the food was very good. First test: a beef soup, which bad restaurants make from instant powder or at least add some prepared mixes to improve the taste, passed spotlessly. Second test, a salad made with pumpkin seed oil and not with the cheapest oil mix, also passed. House wine was local and OK (refošk), no need to go for more expensive alternatives. Also, we experienced that the restaurant staff listens to their guests. Perhaps this is not so important to an average guest in this restaurant class, but in our case this is crucial at every restaurant visit, due to a fact that we have a serious allergy problem and the food prepared in a default way, as listed in the menu, usually falls off. Large share of our restaurant experiences, even in more expensive places, has been negative in that respect. In case of Firšt guesthouse, we were listened to carefully and patiently, and the food delivered was in accordance with what we asked for. In many other places --some of them aiming higher than Firšt in terms of image and pricing-- such requests proved to be a mission impossible. Therefore, I assign pure 5 stars to Firšt guesthouse, for restaurant services. We will surely come back when we visit this beautiful region again.

+1
We spent a night in Guest House and museum Firšt by "acciddent" :)
A friend of mine got married in Vrbovec Castle and she had a wedding reception at guest house and museum Firšt, where most of us spent the night after the party was over.
The house is beautifully placed in mountain valley, through which flows Savinja river and leads the scenic road from highway to Logarska valley. There are many different spots to stop during the way, if nothing else, just to drink a coffee and enjoy the view :)
We slept with the baby in the main building. The rooms are clean and even has a floor heating, the bathroom was also clean and we also got towels. Prices are very reasonable.
The food, which was served, was excellent.
From the Guest house is not very far to Logarska valley or you can start some easy walking tours just behind the guest house.

I stayed at this quiet hotel recently. Its prices are reasonable and affordable. The room was clean and tidy. The soft beds with clean sheets on them provided for a comfortable sleep. There was free internet access and a television in the room. The bathroom was decent with a high speed shower. The maids cleaned the room and the bathroom every day. The room had a balcony where one can sit and relax. The breakfast was adequate, delicious, and had variety in it. There were some local items too served. The staffs are friendly and helpful. We would certainly opt for staying at this hotel again.

We stayed with this family-run hotel for a week last June, because it was handy to the park of Logarska Dolina. While the father did not speak much English (but did speak German, so that worked), the teenagers spoke English, so no worries! Our room was upstairs, facing the road with a stream rushing downhill just on the other side. Not much traffic, and none at night, just the pleasant sound of water. We had a sunny balcony, with lovely geraniums, just perfect for wine sipping after hiking. Our bathroom was ensuite and included a terrific shower. Everything was spic and span, and cleaned daily.
The price, most affordable, included breakfast - and what a breakfast! Every day, along with the normal continental fare- and cereal - and cheese and meat - they brought out a new dish, ranging from lovely scrambled eggs one day to a mystery (but yummy) meat another day.
Because we don't drink and drive, we ended up eating dinner there each evening, except for the one night a week that the restaurant was closed. The menu was not extensive, but quite good. Normally, we ordered whatever was the special, and were pleased. The fish was always good, as well. And, the price was most affordable, including a selection of good wines.
Unfortunately for me, I had injured my ankle and thus was unable to hike. They saved my sanity by having free internet - 2 computers in a common TV room, that also had just about every guide/tourist book and brochure in existence for that area.
The family is wonderful, so kind and so attentive! We had lovely stay, in a lovely hotel, run by an exceptionally caring family. For this part of the world, it was a delight.

The food was not tasty and was overcooked. I was seriously overcharged. The service was not that nice. One cannot pay here by card if less than 30 eur. Generally disappointing. Will not come again and do not recommend the restaurant - I can't say about the rooms and the museum.
