A warm and welcoming reception from the gentleman on arrival who gave us all the information we needed about the charming yet typically small Spanish hotel which really was full of charm. On the ground floor through the doors was the courtyard where Continental breakfast was served each morning and where you could order Tapas and drinks from 11am until 10pm, very nice and helpful lady. On the first floor you can sit outside and leisurely watch the natural pools directly in front of the hotel, a great location if you are planning to go and enjoy the pools as they have a door that exits across from them. Our room was perfect, light and bright and we had no issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to go back again early in the new year.

We stayed for a week in January. This is a lovely boutique hotel in a great location right by the sea facing the rocks and swimming pools. The rooms are set around an internal courtyard on 2 levels. The rooms on the ground floor do not have a window to the outside only to the courtyard and those nearer to the cafeteria are a bit dark I think. Room 4 is right by the breakfast area. This may be reflected in the price I don't know. Upstairs the toom are other along the street side of the hotel and have windows facing there. Others are on the gallery facing the courtyard and are light and airy. Undoubtedly the best rooms are rooms 10 and 11 which also have windows facing towards the see and are a little larger. They are slightly more expensive. The rooms are traditional in style and very clean and comfortable. However there are a couple of things which could be improved. As others have said, there is tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms plus fridge, but no tea/coffee is supplied! If you don't want to buy local then bring your own! However here was a fruit basket and small bottles of champagne on arrival which was a nice touch. The other thing was. I've never stayed in a hotel where the cleaner removes all your items from where you have placed them to your satisfaction in the bathroom and puts them up on a high shelf every day. Every day we put them back and every day they were moved again!! Cleaning staff should not be moving guests personal items around. At least put them back where they were!! A few other items were moved about as well. Also the external window to the gallery was left open every day, presumable to 'air' the room. However this somewhat defeats the object of having a key!!! There is a safe in the room but still. Breakfast was perfectly acceptable with a continental choice, pastries and a small choice of cooked items, eggs etc. If you're looking for massive breakfast buffet as in multinational hotels then you'll be disappointed but I thought it was fine. There are lovely terraces where you can sit and relax whilst watching the sea or sit in the relaxing courtyard. Also a cosy residents lounge where you might need to sit as wifi connection is a bit flaky in the rooms (or it was in ours.) Sonja the host is extremely welcoming and friendly and speaks good English and also German. She is very helpful with everything and can book tours/taxis etc etc. All in all a very pleasant stay

Dear guest, Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, this is important for us to continue improving. The rooms have different prices, they are divided into 7 different categories, the ground floor is not the same as the upper one, however, the comforts in all are the same. We have taken note of a couple of things and as far as possible, we will try to improve them. Thanks to your comment, we know where we are going well and where we are faltering. Kind regards, Sonja& Miguel& Garahotel-team

Perfect situation by the sea with a lovely terrace to sit and watch the waves in the amazing lava pools. Close to all the amenities in the town, restaurants, several shops. Our room (11) had double aspect windows with fantastic sea views. Very comfortable, we slept well. Breakfast was good, nice coffee and very fresh bread. The cafeteria served snacks and drinks until 10, very useful. The owners are friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay at this hotel and hope to return.

I spent 3 nights at Garahotel in the pretty town of Garachico. It’s a beautiful hotel in a well preserved historical building in the heart of the Centro Historico. I was given a nice upstairs room facing the sea, although it couldn’t really be called a sea view. It was a comfortable room, although I found the bed and the pillows too firm for my liking. Annoyingly, they provide a kettle and mug but no tea/coffee. I mentioned it to Miguel and he said I could buy coffee from them! In the bathroom, I found the shower a bit weird. It was more like a pressure washer, ie I got sprayed really hard, but never really felt wet! It seemed like the actual shower head was missing. Breakfast in the downstairs courtyard was enough without being exceptional. On my last morning I discovered that you could also order eggs, bacon etc as well as help yourself to buffet items, but when I was asked for my room number, I suspected there may be an extra charge. I wasn’t given a bill when I checked out, however but - like a number of things - this was never explained to me. There’s a bar in the breakfast area), and a terrace on the first floor (near my room, 11) which is nice for having a sunset drink. There’s also a great but small sun terrace with 2 loungers on the roof. Sonia is an excellent host, smiley and engaging. She makes the place tick. On the other hand, I have to be honest and say I found her husband Miguel a bit cold. I don’t think hospitality comes naturally to him. I felt like I was inconveniencing him when I needed to ask about something. Overall I enjoyed my stay here. It’s a lovely hotel, but a bit more communication would help.

Dear guest, Thanks a lot for taking some time to share your experience, this is really important for us. We are happy about reading that you enjoyed our small hotel and Garachico too. There are signs in the breakfast area, room, etc. that give the extra information, since we don´t want to overwhelm our clients with so much details. However, we take note of it, due to the fact that we have to keep improving and we will try to have a middle ground. Kind regards, Sonja& Miguel& Garahotel-team

We loved our short stay in this friendly, individual small hotel. The terrace overlooking the sea was great and the courtyard style very attractive. The room was comfortable and plenty of choice at breakfast. Hope to stay longer next time.

My wife and I were made to feel very welcomed by Sonia and Miguel who run the Gara Hotel....our room was great, and sitting on the upper terrace in the evening watching the waves and drinking some of Miguels wine stock was tremendous... the hotel is just a short walk away from a couple of seriously good restaurants...in particular Gaspars....which was recommended by Sonia....decent breakfast buffet too...

Most enjoyable week in friendly and comfortable surroundings. Room upstairs gave us easy access to the terrace overlooking the sea and pools where we spent much time reading and watching the changing tides. We hope to be able to return for the hospitality of Sonja and Miguel.

The hotel is located in Garachico, which is off the beaten tourist track, and is a lovely town with a beautiful main square. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel has an internal courtyard and a second floor deck with comfortable furniture and a view of the ocean. The breakfast is excellent. My only complaint is that there is a electric kettle in the room but no coffee or tea. This would not cost very much to provide to guests. Or the hotel should make coffee and tea available earlier than the 8:30 breakfast.

Rebuilt tastefully and with intelligence by the current owners several years ago, situated across the road from the sea but nevertheless quiet. Very useful central location, good parking nearby. Good sea and town views from the terraces. Decent sized rooms, all I think en suite. Nice old feel to the place, lots of woodwork, good open central area used for breakfast or as a bar. Bed and breakfast only but owners very helpful with advice on where to eat and the town has several good restaurants. Staff friendly and efficient too. Good value and much better than many 'highly rated' hotels
