Glenridding Manor is an excellent stay. We went there for a mini break and it was the perfect choice. The rooms were spectacular and we love how private the whole space felt. The breakfast was lovely with a selection of healthy foods overlooking the most stunning views. The view of Lake Ullswater and waking up to it was amazing. The proximity to Aira Force and the steamers is definitely a major bonus. Lastly, our host was so warm and kind and certainly made our stay so much better. Thank you Lynne. Highly recommend.

Property's Favourite Review
Absolutely magical stay. The room/Suite, location, care and attention from Lynne the proprietor was fabulous. We stayed 3 nights in the Warholme Suite, and had our Wedding ceremony at the venue. Lynne Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, your kindness and patience were phenomenal. Your house/home is truly stunning thanks again with breathtaking views. Ian and Doreen Davis

They cancelled our booking - then refused to give a refund. No manors or customer service at all. The management were extremely rude and made no appology for cancelling the reservation - we were left completely stranded without anywhere to stay and they didn't even try to help us find alternative accomodation. They then had the cheak to say they were keeping the money - even though they had made the cancellation. Awful customer service - they should be avoided at all costs.

Response from St Hutch, General Manager at Glenridding Manor House ( Ullswater Hotel Ltd)
Responded 6 Jul 2022
Please see below the true course of events. Terms and conditions : Sorry no children. We are sorry you did not read the terms and conditions before booking your stay for arrival that same day. We have never been rude to any of our customers. Your booking was made on line "direct" the best price available at £200/night B&B, and on a bank holiday was offered This also included a free bottle of Prosecco or cream tea. Your comments of rude, no apology, completely stranded without anywhere to stay or that we did'nt even try to find alternative accommodation. True course of events: You booked direct "WITHOUT READING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS" on the morning of a bank holiday weekend. You then informed us by e mail that you were bringing an infant one year old and that the central reservations team had said that would be ok. As soon as you e mailed the above information we informed you that we have no central reservation facility and neither do we accept children or infants. We are Adult only as stated. We have absolutely nothing against children and infants however we decided on opening 8 years ago to be an exclusive tranquil lakeshore boutique B&B, for which we were awarded AA five gold stars for and have maintained that status. That is the reason we do not accommodate Children and infants, as well as one other reason- Glenridding Manor House is a Georgian Regency building with large lakeshore low windows and balconies. We took advice and decided not provide rooms for children on safety grounds. Our terms and conditions are very clear direct bookings NO REFUNDS full payment within 30 days of arrival. This policy provides guests with the best available rate. To conclude: Unfortunately you chose to book with us on the morning of arrival date. You were immediately informed that we would have to cancel (before you started your journey), reason Adult only, Your even e mailed to say you understood the reason for cancellation. Then a month on we received threatening e mails from you. We apologised for the cancellation, and pointed out the terms and conditions. We did not leave you as you say "completely stranded without anywhere to stay with no help of alternate accommodation" Unfortunately such events and your review are neither true facts or a representation of an experience at Glenridding house. Had you actually stayed with us we think you would have had a lovely time. As for your one star - purely Saur grapes!

Slightly delayed review sorry but stayed here over the August bank holiday weekend for two nights and had an amazing time. We loved Glenridding House and cannot wait to return. Host Lynne was so friendly and helpful. We stayed in Place Fell room, one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in, it was huge and immaculate, the bathroom was larger than most hotel rooms and the bath amazing! Bed was so comfy and you could watch the boats sail past with your morning brew in bed! The balcony was huge and sat in the sun with the complimentary prosecco (book direct!) after a long day’s hiking in the fells was just perfect. Our first break away in over a year and couldn’t have chosen a better place. It was like a piece of tranquil heaven away from the madness of the busy Lakes. The grounds are huge and the closest stay to the lake possible. Plenty of room for free parking which is another bonus in the Lakes. Breakfast was delicious (smoked salmon and eggs and full English) and Lynne happily gave us more tea to fill our flask. Cannot fault one thing about this beautiful place. With covid still around we didn’t fancy a large hotel packed with people so with just five rooms in total, this could not have been more perfect, we only saw two other couples the whole of our stay. Thanks Lynne, we will be back!

Hard to fault this luxury hotel/B&B created out of a virtual ruin by the talented owners who clearly have a keen eye for detail. We stayed in Fell Place which is a fabulous double aspect, high ceiling room with balcony and view of the Lake just outside. The bed was huge and about the most comfortable I’ve found in a hotel. Breakfast was lovely, sufficient choice and beautifully prepared. I can’t comment on the limited hours dinner service which we didn’t try. What struck us, apart from the incredible views, was the utter tranquility of the place. We felt cocooned in a quiet, luxurious blanket of comfort. Those that prefer an overhead shower might want to choose a different room.

Stayed 3 nights in this beautiful hotel overlooking the lake and it was stunning. Lynne was a fantastic host who really added to the experience - nothing was too much trouble and she was a wealth of knowledge re the local area. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic location, wonderful house and great friendly hosts who have painstakingly renovated the house. The place is set in the most beautiful location and you will feel you’ve found somewhere secret and set away from everywhere else. This establishment isn’t aimed at the Dubai 5 star hotel set, it’s too classy for that, there are ‘quirks’ which are expected of a house this age and with the owners living there adds much more than the sterile impersonal hotels of today. The breakfast is spot on and make sure you get a room with a lake view, you will not be disappointed. Can’t wait to return again.

I had such an amazing weekend stay here. Beautiful hotel, very clean, great food (and the world’s comfiest beds!!) in a perfect location looking out onto Ullswater. Only 5 minute walk into Glenridding village to the shops / Ullswater steams / sailing centre, and the best location if you want to hike up Helvellyn! Lynn was lovely and so friendly. I never wanted to leave, and will certainly return here again! 😃

Lynn does an amazing job offering beautiful rooms and delicious breakfast in a superb location. The house is filled with original features but feels contemporary and very clean. If you are celebrating a special occasion then ask for a room with balcony and lake views. We appreciated the location of the house and strolled into Glenridding, Aira Force and Patrerdale. We had a gorgeous three night stay. Highly recommended
