We had the pleasure of hosting our wedding reception at the hotel last week and couldn't fault our experience. We chose the hotel firstly for its location and the fact that we were having a small wedding so it suited our needs. Throughout the planning process Martha was more than helpful. I chose to do a lot myself but I...

A beautiful drive around the shore brought us here. The place speaks of old town and relaxed but the staff can take the relaxed a little to far. Everything needed was accomplished but it just didn’t appear that he cared. There was not big welcome like we received from all the other places we visited in the area. All in...

I booked this hotel having never been there, for a party recently - a friend had stayed here and recommended it. I sorted the whole affair by phone / over the Internet - I live in Wales. I was a little nervous but they reassured me that everything was sorted and in order. From arrival to check out the staff...

We were in the hotel at the same time as the people who wrote this unfair report regarding the flies and i feel i just have to set the record straight. We had an excellent meal and great service, and while there were a few flies about, they certainly did not detract from our enjoyment. It is summer by the...

Visited here on Sunday for a couple of lunchtime drinks by he lady behind the bar was so lovely to us and was very friendly. Decided to have a bar snack to help soak up the Guinness and it was exceptional and served by an adorable chap called George. I had crisp bread crumbed Brie with red onion marmalade and...

Called in for lunch on Saturday 25th July 2015 but when it was served we were inundated with flies throughout the time it took to eat the meal. We did mention this to staff who stated there was nothing they could do about it. I rang and complained again and was told it was a fact of nature and was...

Four of us called in when visiting Portaferry and was greeted by rude, unfriendly barman. Had planned to eat there but thought twice about it and went elsewhere. Had a drink - which was over-priced - instead and left.

Stayed for one night recently. On arrival there was no one on reception and we had to wait for a minute or two - they seemed a bit understaffed and the man who eventually checked us in was also working in the bar seeing to other guests. I was impressed with the decor on arrival - it was a quaint...

Had an alright dinner and a very disappointing lunch in June. Dinner was salmon with crushed potatoes and as usual the potatoes were cold but veg and salmon quite good - the salmon just a little over cooked. Arrived for lunch to the greeting from the owner before we got to a seat 'would you like a menu' - no...

We are just back home from our 2night break at the Portaferry Hotel and I had to share our great experience with Tripadvisor. Check in was hassle free, our room, no 9, was just lovely overlooking Strangford Lough. All the little extras you would expect in the room were there. Attention to detail such as, china teacups and saucers, bottles...
