What an amazing evening, 7 delightful courses each one better than the last a pure taste explosion. First class service from warm and friendly staff, then the cherry on the top when the lady owner came over and spent some time introducing herself and telling us a little of her history. All in all a very enjoyable evening was had... More

Food was best ever, service and staff were first class, small intimate dining erea, can't find the smallest thing to fault. The seven course set menus was great, just enough of each course to enjoy and leave you satisfied.

We booked a meal at the Albannach and changed the direction of our NC 500 trip to coordinate our booking with our travel. Though there were only a handful of diners on our visit - or perhaps because of it - there was no lack of detail to the preparation of the courses of our meal and their presentation. We... More

What a delight the Albannach is! We were in Lochinver for work and stayed for 2 nights. I had one of the rooms in the main house and it was very modern and beautifully laid out. Staff were incredibly helpful. The food was exceptional. Both evenings we were treated to a real culinary feast. At the end of a long... More

I read some recent reviews and they tempered my enthusiasm for the long journey north. However, I should not have worried. Yes, the conservatory could be updated a little but our bedroom was modern and very comfortable. The food was excellent on the two evenings we ate there and the staff and owners were all delightful. I would happily go... More

Our first impression of The Albannach was a little disappointing…we had arrived early before expected … and so were greeted with surprise. The conservatory into which we went was a little tired and so we were dubious about the rest of the accommodation. Upon inspection of our rooms which were The Penthouse suite with lovely high views over the loch... More

The Byers suite was fabulous slightly set back from the hotel, beautifully decorated and simplistically elegant. The staff were excellent, attentive and helpful. The food was really good, but found the portions too big for a 5 course dinner ,( plus canapés and a large amouse bouche!) It was however an amazing experience and I loved the cosy dining room... We had the penthouse room which had great views, but food and the wine list was a great disappointment, not worth the trip so far north, at best bistro food, not a match to the other 1 stars we visited during the same trip around Scotland.

Oh dear! One of the last reviewers does seem to have got her beloved knickers in something of a twist.Whilst reviews on Tripadvisor are of their very nature subjective and one's eating history is often irrelevant to the appreciation or otherwise of any particular establishment I might cite the fact that I have recently eaten at Michelin starred restaurants in... A strange mixture of tat, dark hallways and dining rooms and a Philippe Starck bathroom suite in the room we were in. The food tasted fine but the experience was spoiled by the dining room being so dark I couldn't see what I was eating. The chefs / owners insisted this was their style, they liked it dark.
