Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went in April 2022 on North Coast 500. An excellent stop-off with well appointed rooms & very friendly hostess, Views of ruined castle, bay & hills around. Even a log fire in the lounge & a hearty breakfast. Would highly recommend

Our initial thoughts were "oh dear"! The room was tight and there was no carpet on the floor but in fact it was warm, clean and Silke was very friendly. Her breakfast was excellent as were the views. The following morning she very kindly telephoned a restaurant she recommended at our next stop over, which was The Old School House at Kinlochbervie and booked the last table! The meal was excellent, so many thanks to Silke.

This B&B is ideally located in Tongue with a great outlook over the countryside. The room was really clean and comfortable and the lounge and breakfast room was superb. The breakfast was really good. It is a short walk to the Tongue Hotel for dinner. Great value stay. Thanks!

Excellent place to stay. Friendly warm hospitality, relaxed atmosphere, felt very welcomed. Beautiful homely furnishings. Lovely open aspect garden with great views across the river to Castle Varrich. Delicious and generous breakfast. Had a great week stay as a base to explore the area. Stunning scenery, coast and secluded beaches to discover and lochs and mountains to walk or just breathe and be.

A wonderful B @ B with lovely mountain, green fields and water views, and with a restful lounge room for guests. The rooms are clean and comfortable and it is great value for money. The owner is a nice person and very helpful. She has extensive local knowledge and a terrific book collection on the local area. I would definitely recommend it and I would stay again

We were met by the owner who was lovely and we had the chalet at the back due to us having the dog with us. The room was lovely clean and spacious with a kettle toaster and microwave and small fridge and TV. The bathroom was clean and the shower lovely The bed was the most comfy I have slept in for for along while. There is a lovely walk to the castle although we didn't have time to do it but did walk down to the inlet from the sea which the owner told us sometimes had seals. The owner was very aware of my dietary needs even providing me with a full packet of gluten free biscuits. There is a guest lounge but we didn't use it as dogs weren't allowed in there. Breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit cheese and cold meat followed by a lovely hot breakfast again all gluten free for me. Would definitely stay again

What a wonderful place in the Highlands. We only stayed for two nights while riding the NC500 but wanted to stay longer. The Bothy is situated away from the road with views of Castle Varrich, Ben Loyal and Ben Hope. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with a wonderful log burner in the lounge. But the real gem of our stay was the host Silke, she was wonderful, kind and so helpful. Her breakfasts were lovely with a wide variety to choose from. We will definitely visit again.

The Bothy is one of the best B&Bs I’ve ever stayed in. Silke was so welcoming and friendly. Our room had a view of the castle and Ben Loyal. I’m sad we only stayed here for the one night on our Road Trip. I’ve bookmarked it for the future! Thank you Silke.
