We booked one night here for New Years Eve on our way to San Agustin. We stayed in an upstairs private double room. It was spacious, comfortable, warm and very clean. The bathrooms and common areas were spotless. Showers were hot. The information boards were briliant. Free tea and coffee in the morning was great. Kitchen was well stocked and...

It's clean and set up pretty well. Just seems way too much money for what you get. Pretty lousy internet in the room, lots of road noise. We have stayed in cheap hotels for a third of the price that have been better. Good location, close to the main square.

I would recommend thinking twice before booking a room at hostel Trail. The owners were really lovely, and Popayan Tours affiliated with the hostel runs some good activities, however the hostel was the worst that we stayed in in Colombia. I had read previous reviews about the traffic noise in the rooms before we arrived, but thought that they have...

The hostel is very bright and inviting. The owners are friendly and very helpful. It is about a 5 minute walk to the main square and about an 8 minute walk to the bus station, so great location. The kitchen facilities were good - has toaster, microwave and blender. We were in a private room with shared bathroom, there was...

This review is entirely negative. I am writing this directly to point out flaws in this hostel that any hostel owner should know (they should know their customers) and provide to their guests. Below are all basic requirements that the hostel missed the mark on. 1. ONLY TWO ELECTRICAL SOCKETS in the eight person room. For those who want to...

Hi Lezulee, I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed about our infrastructure, we've spent many years developing the Hosteltrail to meet the needs of today's backpackers and it's unfortunate you feel we've let you down. I just wanted to clear up a couple of points that your raised - first off, we have two separate internet connections and a number...

Had a lovely time in popayan, the friendly host introduced us to good restaurants, gave excellent information regarding the best activities around! He even helped us planning our next destination! Just go there, you'll love it!

I struggled a little with the layout of the place as it is hinged around two opposing staircases. However, if you're happy to climb up and down these flights a fair few times then you will get on well enough here! The staff are friendly, especially the lovely lady in the kitchen. Breakfast costs extra but is well worth it....

We stayed here for two nights on route from Columbia to Ecuador. 10 min walk from the bus terminal and close to the historic centre. No taxi was needed. Clean, tidy hostel, staff were friendly with some English. Showers warmish, but don't bank on it being warm. The road noise from this hostel was very loud, it was hard to...

Fantastic hostel in the historical centre of Popayan. The staff were lovely and the hostel was immaculate. Great kitchen facilities and lots of travel information available. We did the downhill mountain biking which was a lot of fun! We also were able to leave our big backpacks at the hostel while we did a few nights in San Agustin. Wifi...

Excellent location close to the bus station and centre of town. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The company offers a range of very excellent tours. This hostel is located next to a very busy road junction, the noise even with the windows closed is absolutely appalling! The kitchen and bathroom facilities are often occupied due to the number of...

“As this is written, Room 7 has a TV and DVD player purchased privately and left behind by a previous guest, and there is an extensive free DVD library in the communal TV room. There is only one room lacking a window to the street. Try to avoid it. There are frequent rainbows in Popayan, at least in January.”
