Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed overnight in order to visit a local restaurant. Quality accommodation, Quality Breakfast and a warm friendly welcome from Janet, who couldn't have done more to make us feel at home. She certainly put a capital "H" in hospitality.

We have just returned from a one night stay here and we had the most amazing time. Janet was so welcoming on arrival and really made an effort to ensure we had everything we could possibly need. The B&B was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated and you could see the pride Janet takes in keeping it that way. The self serve hot drinks machine was a lovely touch and there was plenty cold bottles of water on hand too. The room was perfect, the bed was extremely comfortable and we had the best nights sleep. The bathroom had a lovely big shower and a separate bath so we could choose what we wanted. It was a shame we were only here one night as it’s the most comfortable and at home we have felt in any B&B/hotel in a very long time.

Fabulous stay - we were sad it was just one night, but we were booked into the wedding venue as part of the wedding party for our second night. I made an error in my booking initially - completely my fault, but Janet sorted it out promptly for me without any fuss. We stayed in the Birch room: a lovely big bathroom with freestanding deep bath, which was much appreciated. The room had a superking bed (I understand that it can also be set up as twin beds), which was comfy with crisp bedsheets and plump pillows. The in-room fridge was also handy. There is a downstairs lounge, which has a serve yourself drinks machine that makes various coffees/hotchocolate/has hot water for tea. A lovely touch is the use of fresh milk from the fridge in the lounge - no sachets/capsules of UHT milk here. The sofa in the lounge was also extremely comfortable. There is no TV in the lounge (a deliberate choice by the owners: we were happy with that), but there was a large wallmounted TV in our room. Wifi was good and trouble free, even with multiple devices connected. The cooked breakfast was fabulous - freshly cooked to order, with a large portion (2 sausages, 2 fried eggs, large slice of thick cut bacon, a hash brown, mushrooms and beans), as well as toast on the side, a pot of tea, and a choice of fruit juices. Janet and Steve were very welcoming and chatty without being intrusive, and also helpful. Finally the location. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful location surrounded by countryside, and especially if you are attending a wedding at West Tower, which is only a few minutes walk away. Personally, if I had known how good it would be, I would rather have stayed here for both nights, but we were booked into the wedding venue for the second night.

What a great place to stay. Steve was so friendly and helpful when we got there and in the morning. The room was absolutely lovely and definitely had a wow factor. We stayed here to attend a wedding a west tower, and so pleased we did. The cooked breakfast was gorgeous, good fresh quality ingredients cooked perfectly. Thank you for such a pleasant stay!

Our first stay at Birches Brow and we were not disappointed, from the warm welcome to the lovely breakfast the next morning everything was perfect. We will definitely be back and Janet should be very proud of what she has achieved. Many thanks.

We came and stayed in Birches Brow this weekend for my hen party and from start to finish it was amazing. Janet greeted us and showed us around the stunning accommodation and we were all blown away with how beautifully decorated the house is and how spacious the rooms and communal area are. There was a coffee machine, towels, kettles, endless supply of teas and coffees and even our own robes and slippers to make it a perfect home from home. The following morning, Janet and Kate came to make us a lovely breakfast and couldn’t have been more accommodating, we can’t thank you enough. Highly recommend birches brow for any larger party. We are already planning our next trip here!

I stayed here with a group of family and friends to celebrate my sisters hen do and we had the most amazing time. Janet was so accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome and had everything we needed. Each room has an en-suite which is perfect and the beds are SO comfy. Breakfast the next morning was also delicious and freshly cooked by Janet and her daughter. The location is perfect as it’s really peaceful yet only a 10 minute drive into ormskirk. We couldn’t have stayed in a more perfect place, thankyou for having us!
