There is currently no place I’d rather stay than whitewater. My husband and I have been fortunate to travel around the globe and I would choose whitewater over and over again. From the moment you walk into the lobby, you have a sense of calm- like you’re home. There is not a detail that has been overlooked. Aesop toiletries is 10/10. The in room bar and snacks, the essentials and non essentials is meant to appeal to any taste. The bed is soft but not too soft. You can choose black out curtains or not, you can hear the waves and smell the ocean air. The room smells clean. The morning basket is perfection. You can have mimosas or not, you can have something sweet or not.. I simply can’t rave about this place enough. The staff are charming- attentive but not in your face. The lobby serves wonderful cocktails and allows you to sit in solitude or play a game. Outside there is a fire pit that is cozy and warm in the evenings. It is now a must return several times a year to have that retreat- walking along the boardwalk and enjoying that perfect cup of coffee. There should be no question about where to stay on Cambria- whitewater for the win!

My husband and I live in Los Angeles and after 9 months of no travel, decided to explore options in Cambria since some friends would be there as well. Our priority was safety and cleanliness and with research we determined White Water was our best option. When booking, Jessica was extremely helpful in accommodating our requests to help us feel more comfortable with travel. I am SO happy we chose White Water because it was absolutely perfect. Apparently the property was just renovated this year and it shows. The room was lovely with a fireplace in the corner, floors were hardwood (particularly with cleanliness being a concern I LOVED this aspect), and beds were extremely comfortable. Every morning a basket with croissants and coffee was left on each doorstep, a wonderful touch. And of course, the proximity to the walkway near the beach was incredible. I highly recommend this spot for anyone as worried about traveling during COVID as we are because we felt very, very safe and well taken care of here. If we need another multi-day getaway anytime in the near future (which chances are, we will!), this is where we'll be. Thank you to everyone and particularly Jessica who made our stay here so memorable!

We recently had the incredible experience of staying two nights in beautiful and quaint Cambria. And the White Water did not disappoint. We booked two Premier King rooms and everything about the stay from our arrival to our departure was top notch. This intimate and personalized Lodge was immaculate, tastefully and artistically decorated and was an oasis of quiet and solitude to return to each evening after enjoying the many fine shops and restaurants Cambria has to offer.

I am always a bit hesitant to stay at "quaint lodges" or Inns where you park outside your room...(yes, a diva even in the age of Covid)...but that all dissipated after checking-in to the White Water. It's location on Moonstone Beach was superb and got me out of the very comfortable and cozy bed each AM around 6 to walk along the boardwalk and the beach. What an incredible way to start the day! The lobby was a great place to sit and stare out at the ocean while meeting some of your fellow travelers or getting ideas from the very helpful White Water team for places to eat or visit. Although we did not partake in the bikes which were available, many of the guests did and found them to be a of fun to see the surrounding area.

To sum up our stay: Quiet, Clean, Friendly, Upscale, Distinctive, Cozy, Comfortable and Tasteful. We look forward to a return visit during the Winter season to take advantage of the gas fireplace! Thank you to the team at White Water for making our family stay a very memorable one!

We’ve stayed several times at the White Water Inn when visiting Cambria over the years and they’ve never disappointed for a comfortable stay and fabulous customer service. This trip was only slightly different with obvious changes and some nice upgrades!

Currently they’re going through a soft opening, and as such not all of the planned amenities are available and that’s totally understandable. First difference you’ll notice is the look, gone is the bright yellow of the old hotel and in is a dark look with deep green accents. Some may hate the change some may love it, me I think it adds a look of a higher end place and when the lights come on at dusk the place looks fantastic!

The room was very different with updated styling and comfort levels. The bed was so comfy!! Not too hard not too soft but formed to you and made for a great night sleep. The linens and pillows alike are much nicer than before and the high quality shows. The bathroom seemed larger and was well done with high end toiletries available that were nice and smelled great. The open walk in shower was really a nice touch and had great water pressure which can be hit and miss in some places.

The staff was always a highlight of our stays at White Water with their friendliness and small touches that made your stay special (cookies at check in and washing your car windows each morning from the sea mist). The staff were all very friendly and eager to help make our stay comfortable, offer local tips, and answer any questions we had.

I look forward to staying at White Water again after they’re fully operational and getting the full experience of this new incarnation of one of our favorite coastal getaways!

I took my boyfriend here to celebrate his 40th birthday last weekend. The property is STUNNING, and the lobby is just as incredible as it looks online. We sat there for hours playing cards and having cocktails during a beautiful rainstorm. The entire staff was so knowledgable and helpful with recommendations, and they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy (shoutout to Lindsey and Kevan)!

We'd initially booked 3 nights (2 nights in the Ocean View Suite #8 and 1 night in a Standard King Room). The Ocean View Suite is UNREAL, huge windows, an outdoor tube with unbelievable views of the coast, and the most insanely comfortable mattress (we even asked where it was from). We were so in love with the property that we decided to stay an extra night and they upgraded us at no cost to a Premier King Room with an ocean view for the remainder of our stay, AND they dropped off an adorable mug for my BF as a birthday gift!

You wont regret coming here. The interior design is so thoughtful and artfully done. Walks along the boardwalk are absolutely memorable. There are so many cute restaurants in town. (Linn's, Wild Ginger, and Robin's were our faves), and Moonstone Beach Bar + Grill is just a two minute walk away. We spent a lovely day at Hearst Castle and visited Seal Rock. But our favorite part was just lounging around in our comfy rooms, in our beautiful room, watching the ocean, and drinking fresh coffee and complimentary pastries that the kind staff delivered daily! Oh and btw the rooms are so insanely quiet - I didn't hear any outside noise in either of the rooms we stayed in, except of course when we opened the windows to hear the ocean!

Can't wait to visit again. 10/10!

I can't recommend this hotel enough. Look up photos. It is beautifully designed in every way and right across from the beach. You will instantly feel relaxed coming here. It's an especially nice getaway from LA and turned out to be a lovely way to break up a road trip home from Carmel, as it's pretty equidistant from Carmel/Big Sur and LA. They have bikes for rent or you could just walk across the street and take a lovely stroll by the beach.

In terms of COVID safety, you can't get better than this. You can call ahead to arrange for contactless check-in, where they'll put your key in the lockbox outside their lobby. Pastries and coffee are dropped off in a picnic basket to your door each morning. All the rooms have exterior private entrances, so you never need to go through an enclosed space (i.e. hallway, elevator) that's not your room.

Shout-out to Adina at the front desk for being so helpful and kindly assisting us with any questions we had.

We actually had reservations at another hotel that turned out to be outdated with a room that had no working windows and smelled like burning plastic. We showed up out of the blue at White Water Lodge and the calm courteous staff found us an elegant, quaint room within minutes. They even offered to show us the room before we decided. The accomodations are the perfect blend of modern and rustic that you would hope a coastal cottage would feel like. Everything is updated with attention to detail. The lighting is well thought out and helps to set every mood. The push button gas fireplace was amazing. The bed was cozy and just begs you to sleep in on a foggy day. Theres a morning picnic basket at your front door with fresh brewed coffee, pastries, and a mimosa kit. The adjustable room fan and minifridge were retro style and a subtle touch. The exotic soaps and lotion are like aromatherapy. There are bicycles for guests to explore coastal trails. Of course the location adjacent to moonstone beach is premier. This is a fantastic location for an upscale, low key, romantic getaway.

We stayed here for 1 night passing through to Santa Barbara on a Cali coast trip. The motel is right across from the beach, all newly renovated, and rooms look exactly like the pictures with modern furniture and lots of little nice touches. Only negative is the lack of A/C. The room doesn’t get much cross breeze unless you keep the door open. Would be great if they had a screen or half door to let through air. Room had a fan but we were there when it was 60 and still we were warm. Even a window A/C would work fine.

This is such a sweet spot. As a travel agent I did a lot of research before picking the White Water. In Cambria there is a strip of beach with a boardwalk along the bluffs over the beach, it is called Moonstone. And along the strip are about 15 - 20 motels. Most, if not all, have some rooms with views which is always my preferred option. Because this was a last minute escape the smoke from wine country trip I could not find a motel with an ocean view available. Lucky me. I picked White Water completely based on the Trip Advisor reviews about "luxury" - if I couldn't get a view I wanted comfort. And boy did we get it. It has gone through a complete remodel and it is lovely! Modern, minimalist and clean. As one reviewer said, the bed was the most comfortable I have slept on. I loved the amenities and the bathroom had excellent towels - another plus. There was a nice window seat with a filtered view of the ocean. The lobby was really wonderful with lots of seating and huge windows overlooking the ocean. Because of Covid we opted not to hang out there but next time we will. There is coffee to make in the room and you can get a thermos of very good coffee in the lobby along with croissants to take back to your room. The staff is exceptional, especially Jason! As others have said, there are bikes to use but we did not partake. It is just a stone's throw from the boardwalk for lovely champagne sunsets. The Inn has two buildings and one of them has two rooms with large windows overlooking the ocean. Next time we'll try to get one of those as I would never stay anywhere else on Moonstone Beach. Most of the other motels did look a bit tired so I was really glad that we found this modern, comfortable and luxurious gem of an inn.

This was a lovely little stop driving between Big Sur and LA. The lodge is effectively a motel but it has been re designed to perfection to give that boho chic, retro beach , Californian style. The rooms are a decent size with small shower room and lots of nice little touches especially the breakfast basket delivered to your door at 8am with a can of bubbly, orange juice, an apple pastry and a fresh thermos of coffee. A great start to the day! The Aesop bathroom products were also heavenly! We had a relaxing tapas style meal in the evening in the reception area watching the sun go down over the beach ( which is literally over the road). It looked like you could have food taken over to the beach in baskets too and there were blankets to borrow. Cambria is very chilled and not commercialised. There is coastal boardwalk for an evening wander and a lovely wine bar just down the road for wine tasting and watching a few surfers. The only drawback is the price - it’s not cheap in July especially if you are travelling with family and need 2 rooms however I would still stay again as it was charming, unique and full of character and we were made very welcome.
