After hiking and touring Bhutan with the wonderful Tashie and World Expeditions we treated ourselves to a night of splendour in what must be one of the most beautiful resorts in Bhutan. It combined the best of Bhutanese architecture with large, tastefully decorated and well appointed rooms. The food was really excellent too. In the attractive grounds of the hotel... More

Located several km outside Paro, this is a beautiful resort with Bhutanese owners and Bhutanese architecture. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was very, very nice; and wifi was free and fast. Although I think that they try, the food here was a bit hit and miss. Dinners were in a little room off the lobby -- the... More

It was amazing experience to stay at that hotel. It has wonderful architecture in traditional style and beatiful nature around. My room was very comfortable and has balcony with nice view. Upon arrival in the Lobby i saw traditional Bhutan perfomance, that was very interesting. I had dinner in hotel restaurant and it was the best cuisine I tried in... More

The architecture and the grounds are simply gorgeous!! They have an adorable cat in the lobby that you can pet. You can sign up to try archery. I don't think the grounds and location could've been more beautiful. I almost gave five stars but I didn't think the service was as attentive as other five star hotels we stayed at.... More

The soaring carvings and painted pillars, antiques, amazing views, amenities, and terrific restaurant and a really nice bar, coupled with good service, make this a highly desirable place to stay. The rooms are large and airy with high ceilings and lovely furnishings. We felt privileged to stay there. There are some reasonably nice gardens and lawns to wander through, and... More

We were awed by the beautiful structure when we stepped into the hotel lobby. Warm towels were given to us and we were served refreshing drink while waiting to check in. The polite staff brought us to our lovely room. It was spacious and had a large bathroom. Even the gardeners were so friendly and offered us to try their... More

We so pleased we were able to stay at Zhiwa Ling, and it did not disappoint. First off the property is lovely and so generous (large). There are only 46 (at most) rooms. We had one on the 3rd floor, and the room was HUGE with a great balcony. Again the bedding was excellent and the mattress superb. We had... More

There is no doub that the Zhiwa Ling is a beautiful hotel. The Bhutanese architecture, the attention to detail, the attentive staff and the beautiful grounds makes this a great place to relax and unwind. The rooms are beautifully appointed and gargantuan compared with others in a similar range. The rooms away from the main building have large balconies and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The 45-room Zhiwa Ling hotel combines the sensibilities of a fine Bhutanese guesthouse with the best of 21st-century technology. Envisioned and created by a local Bhutanese company, the hotel’s elaborate hand-carved wooden cornices and masterful stonework coexist beautifully with cutting-edge telecommunication systems and Swedish under-floor heating. The Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) announced the Tourist Accommodation classifications and Zhiwa Ling Hotel is the first and only wholly Bhutanese owned hotel to receive a 5 star rating. Zhiwa Ling Hotel is the only Bhutanese owned hotel and one of only two in the country to be ISO22000 certified. Set on 10 acres, Zhiwa Ling has many amenities available to guests. The spa offers all the facilities guests could want; a fitness centre, sauna, steam room as well as a traditional Bhutanese outdoor hot-stone bath. There is a business centre, Tea House, two fully equipped conference rooms, a Meditation House and the hotel has its own greenhouse. Zhiwa Ling Hotel practices sustainable tourism. ... more   less
