What I love:
~The location is nice, right in Krabi Town and not a far drive from the airport
~ The view of this hotel is nice. Surrounded but the mountain, big lake with lots of Lotus. lots of trees. Really breathtaking
~ You can rent kayak to roam the lake
~ Big swimming pool
~ Spacious room. We took 2 bedroom unit

What can be better:
~ The hotel is a bit rundown. Furniture is old. The drain smell and a bit dusty
~ Swimming pool need to be maintained. Some tiles have came off and hurt your feet if you step on it
~ Breakfast was so so
~ Facilities are not available

We have our room in high floor so we got the nice view over their lake and pool from our rooms. However, the room is a slightly rundown with loud a/c but overall still clean.
Location will be good if you plan to walk around the Krabi town and markets.
Friendly lobby staffs but staffs service need to be improve as no attendance at the entrance upon our arrival.
Worth a short stay.

We stayed at the Maritime as the second part of a two centre holiday, in December 2003. Transport from our hotel in Phuket was by minibus, which took us through splendid rural Thailand. The hotel seemed strangely empty, considering it was peak season. The rooms were large, clean and well appointed, with balconies looking towards the huge twin limestone outcrops on the river. Beyond that lay jungle as far as the eye could see.
The hotel's staff were efficient, if lacking the sparkle of their counterparts in Phuket. We found this with the locals too, somehow not that welcoming as other parts of Thailand.
Eating in or out of the hotel was a pleasant experience, with excellent food available. The breakfast was a buffet affair, with extensive types of exotic fruits, or, if you prefer, you can have a hot fried breakfast, though the egg used was of an unfamiliar appearance...it tasted OK though.
The Maritime did however have a few draw backs. It is situated on the river and had no beach, so you had to set your clock to coinside with the courtesy bus to the beach. This we failed to achieve... There is a water taxi to the beach too, but that was also goverened by a timetable. The other option to get around was to walk to the main road and flag down one of the battered pick-up truck buses. It's how the locals get around. Great fun, very cheap, if lacking in safety features...
I would recommend the evening tour of the adjacent mangroves. For this you embark, at the hotel's landing stage, onto a longtailled boat. We were provided with drinks and snacks to sustain us during the trip. The life style of the river dwellers was amazing, living in bamboo shacks on stilts, but with incongruous satellite dishes attached. A fish farm visit was part of the itinery, giving you the oportunity to hold a fully puffed up puffer fish!
I think if we return to Krabi, we would stay closer to the beach, but if a pool is all you want, then the Maritime is a good option.
Oh yes. The hotel's lagoon is where you can hire a pedallo... Have a look at the far end of the lagoon. There is a machine churning up the water. Why? Now look at the other end of the lagoon near the hotel. Unless I'm mistaken, waste water (?) from the hotel flows into the lagoon...or is it a large cess pit?

Maritime Park Resort located at Krabi Town which is very convenient for us to walk around and only around 20 minutes from Aonang Beach. Friendly staff, and love the view from our room especially the super big lotus pond. Overall its a good experience for us.

Australian single father traveling with a 5 year old daughter and a 6 year old son. Booked to stay here 5 nights. Biggest mistake ever made and it really has ruined our otherwise awesome holiday adventure. If you are a Westerner please avoid this hotel at all costs. You would be better off sleeping in a garbage bag out in the jungle.

Allow me to summarize our horrible experience keeping in mind we've only been here one day and one night so far and are looking for an exit strategy today. I never complain about anything but I feel its my duty to warn others - I want to save others the dramas and heartache. The look on the taxi drivers face when we said that we were staying here should have sent alarm bells ringing immediately.

(a) Lady at front desk was super rude. No greeting. No smile. The type of person who should be left out back and certainly never allowed to interact with any guests. Within minutes she made my blood boil and tried to charge me for breakfast which was included. She insinuated to her co-worker that I probably did bad things to my kids seeing as I wasn't traveling with a woman. Their mother died. Yes I understood every word you said. I've never wanted to headbutt someone before but this woman came very very close.

(b) The place is huge, empty and eerie. It had a bad vibe about it as soon as you walk in - almost like it was haunted. The staff walk around like soulless ghosts. We got lost several times as the room numbers and floors don't match plus no signs.

(c) The room was absolutely disgusting. Bar fridge empty. All I wanted was a beer after all that nonsense at check in. The room had just been sprayed with poison before we walked in. We could barely breathe. Dead insects everywhere. You know its bad when even your small kids say 'Dad this place is not nice - we want to leave'. I'm sure the bed is the original bed from whenever this place was built and we woke up this morning covered in bed bug bites.

(d) the Western breakfast is a total joke. Your options are a fried egg, coco pops and terrible coffee. The rest was Asian stuff. No bacon. No omelet. The only thing Western at the breakfast was us and the cutlery.

(e) Free WiFi but only if you are sitting in the lobby. If you want it in your room you have to pay through the nose. Again I felt lied to. The max speed is pretty much dial up and it drops out continuously.

(f) there is a scam going on between the hotel and the taxi drivers out the front. Just about every time you sneeze in this place someone takes a cut. The place is in the middle of no where literally. I cracked it and we walked for about a hour until I got to the local hospital and tried to get a taxi from there. Obviously we looked out of place and lost. By pure chance a taxi drove past and actually stopped after my kids waved him down (it was an epic long walk for them).

(g) Complaining is a waste of time - all you get is that dumb look like 'I don't understand what you are saying' but its funny that as soon as the word 'money' is involved their level of understanding improves dramatically (probably as they are getting a cut and dipping into the till as well). As an example I asked to borrow a power adapter. 200 was yelled at me. I laughed (seeing as they only cost 50 to buy) and handed the money over thinking it was a deposit or something, It went straight into her pocket.

God I could go on and on but whats the point. Just don't stay here is what I'm trying to convey. We are trapped. You can see how bad this place is just by looking at the faces of the staff. They are probably getting paid zilch. I can't afford the high rates at any of the other nearby hotels. Me and the kids are trapped in the lobby watching YouTube clips. I also believe that the positive ratings given on TripAdvisor can't possibly be real as not a single thing said in any of them is even remotely true.

We arrived late in Krabi and after being taken from one dump to another by a local tuk tuk driver, we ended up here. We were 4, 40 year old, scruffy
looking walking people by time we arrived,as we walked into the very grand entrance complete with rucksacks. Staff didn't bat an eyelid. We were given 2 hugh rooms with stunning views over the river with the khast standing proud and jungle tree tops moving as monkeys went from tree to tree, it felt like Jurassic park. Spotless rooms, faultless room service, an excellant restaurant, which we needed by now! and beautiful grounds and pool. we continued our travels and on the way back we stayed another night. Not expensive for what you get, and great views and surroundings. If your after party time not for you, but if your not a young backpacker it's just right!

After we stayed in Phi Phi we stayed here for one night to be closer to the airport for our early departure. This was the biggest mistake we made, the hotel is extremely large and when we checked In it seemed we were the only people on the property. The whole vibe is creepy, if you have seen the movie the shinning, it's Just like that! Our room was musky of mold, and overall just not clean. If we had not arrived so late we would had left. We did not walk to the pool area although from the room it looked pretty. We stayed in the lobby until we were tired enough to sleep, my friend stayed awake all night. I would not suggest you book this hotel, unless you are interested in filming a show on paranormal activity.

The location of this hotel is great for those who want a quiet and relaxing time. The complex consists of numerous blocks of rooms, all which face the swimming pool. To get the best view of the pool and the surrounding panoroma ask for a room on the higher floors. The view of the limestone cliffs and Krabi Town in the distance are breathtaking during sunrise.

Due to the location being offset from the main road (about 400m) hiring taxis and tuk-tuks is not easy. There is a free hotel shuttle bus which you must book in advance but it runs infrequently. If you cannot coincide your schedule with the shuttle, the staff can drive you into town by private car but they charge THB 50 per pax. The price of a Tuk Tuks is THB 30 per pax but this standard price will change later in the evening and depends on your haggling skills. Returning from town is a small problem late at nite since taxis and tuk tuk's are few and far between. Best book the hotel private car prior or make an advance call from town. Although the price of transport is not expensive, you may find yourself trekking in and out of town on a regular basis. The staff on one occasion did forget to send the private car to pick us up and left us stranded for 30 minutes before we made our own way back by tuk tuk.

The hotel staff are friendly and always welcome you with a smile but sometimes there are some things that require explaining, so be patient. There is a lady in the hotel tour office who is extremely helpful and her english is excellent.

The breakfast buffet is pretty standard and nothing to write home about. Only ate dinner in the hotel once. The menu was varied with Western and Asian/Thai dishes but was expensive compared to other places in town.

The room/bathroom are spacious albeit a little run down and require some renovation but overall they are clean and tidy.

The hotel also has a lake in which you can kayak and pedallo free of charge.

Overall the Maritime is a good hotel and an excellent option for those who want to be away from the crowds of the Ao Nang beach strip.

Having left it a bit late to book a hotel in Krabi for an early flight home to London I was really only left with the Maritime Resort and Spa in Krabi. Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor and AsiaWebDirect I really didn't think it could be as bad as some of the reviews said it was and decided as it was only for one night it would be ok.

From the moment I arrived I knew I should have booked somewhere else. First off, they had no record of my booking, even though i had booked and paid in advance 3 days before arriving. Staff on reception were just rude and unhelpful, I was told the only room they had was a standard twin room. When I pointed out i had already paid for a 'superior' double room the staff sighed and walked off. When I was finally given a key I was told I had been upgraded to a 'deluxe' double room.

When I was shown to my room my first thought was if this is an upgrade I would hate to have seen what a 'superior' room was like. The room was old, musty and dirty. Pubic hair was left on the walls in the shower and one on the sink. The door to the bathroom was mouldy, a massive crack was on the wash basin and when I lifted the lid to the loo mosquitoes flew out. On the balcony, which had a great view oberlooking the hotel lake and pool, was a window box...not full of plants but used cigarette butts. Disgusting... And this is a 'non smoking' hotel.

As I was only there one night and flying out early the next day I couldn't be bothered to make a fuss and settled in. I found you had to pay for wifi in your room, which in this day and age I find distasteful, 150THB which you can't charge to your room. I needed to arrange a shuttle to the airport for early the next morning, the rude office staff charged me 600THB... I should have just organised a taxi myself.

Finally I decided to go for a beer in the hotel bar. I should point out this place is massive, it must have a couple of hundred rooms. You would expect it to have a bar to match....No! It has a tiny bar in the lobby with 5... Yes FIVE tables. What a joke, and the bar has massive windows opening on to the lake and pool. So when u finally get a table and get served you get eaten alive by mosquitoes!

In all this place is a joke. It was the most expensive hotel I stayed in over the 2 weeks I was in Thailand. The staff were rude, unfriendly and couldn't be bothered. The room was dirty, old and in dire need of updating. I would never stay here again and nor would I recommend anyone else stay here.

This is a very good hotel in a lovely setting. As it was so quiet we were upgraded to an Adora room which was lovely with perfect views of the karst and the moon rising. The pool is nice and it's great it has its own grounds and pier. On the down side, a lot of the hotel is closed either for refurb or just because it was too quiet to justify opening it, the food is very average and the restaurant is not very appealing (they have closed the eighth floor restaurant for some reason) and the reception staff are appalling. Their English is not good and we were kept hanging about to pay bills and although I was sent a fax at 4.35 pm, they did not get around to giving it to me until 11.55am the next day and did not apologise. Very frustrating.
