We wanted a place to relax for a few days in beautiful Carmel. Candle Light Inn met our expectations as the room was beautiful and the service great. Anything we needed was handled by the front desk, the room was cleaned exactly when we wanted it to be, and the bedding/rest was perfect.

This Inn is very close to the main street and within walking distance of the beach (for walkers at least). I would definitely recommend it!

We just visited Carmel by the Sea a week ago, and we LOVE the Candlelight Inn. We visit Carmel 4 times a year and have stayed at numerous inns, but once we found the Candlelight, we haven't stayed anywhere else. Located on a quiet street, but close to Ocean Ave and only a few blocks from the beach. From the time you check in until the time you leave, you are just as comfortable as if at home. Veronica is always there to greet us and say goodbye, and is very helpful with any recommendations always with a smile. The rooms are perfect, recently renovated, oversized with fridge & coffee maker. The beds are so comfotable that I almost hate to come home =) They deliver a cute breakfast bag to your door in the morning with a fresh pastry, fruit, yogurt and orange juice (we did not have it this trip due to Covid guidelines - you can go to the office for Coffee). Nice size shower with all the amenties you will need for your stay. The large firepit out front is the perfect spot to wind down at night with a glass of wine after the perfect day of touring Carmel. Everything is VERY clean and highly sanitized. I highly recommend the Candlelight Inn and can't wait to go back for our next visit. You will not be sorry if you stay here.....

Picked the Candle Light Inn my daughter and her husband loved the Inn, plus I think we stayed there 45 years ago but not sure. It's a very nice place the staff is wonderful the rooms clean and comfortable, Loved the fresh baked cookies every evening. The Inn is right in town you can walk to the shops and restaurants. Carmel Beach is a pretty long walk so we drove, it was nice there is parking and the Beach is clean and the Ocean view you can't get enough of I can sit for hours just listening to the sounds of the Ocean and watching the waves come crashing in just beautiful. We dined at Hogs Breath had the Artichoke dip very yummy and the baby back ribs fantastic. Breakfast ate at The Cottage very good and stopped at the Carmel Bakery on Ocean so many yummy goodies I got Cannoli so good!!! We went on the 17 miles drives the Ocean and the Scenery were incredible.

This an old-school motel close to food, drink and shopping and about a 10 minute walk down a bit of a steep hill to the beach. The rooms have been upgraded and renovated nicely but mine had a leaky toilet. Carmel is expensive but I was expecting more for $330 a night. Especially disappointed by the "continental breakfast" delivered outside your door. For two people it consisted of an unripe banana, a croissant, a sugary muffin and some yogurt. Based on the reviews here I was expecting something outstanding --not just a little above average with a poor breakfast offering.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, although we were quite surprised at your headline and comments. After looking at your other recent review titles: "Nothing Special", "A Little Overrated", "Overrated", "You Get What You Pay For And It's Not Much", "Get What You Pay For" and "Disappointed", we almost feel the 3-Star rating is not so bad. Still, we wish we could have impressed you. We are happy you approved of the room quality, décor and our location, but regret that our inn did not meet your overall expectations or provide you with the positive experience the majority of our guests enjoy. Due to kitchen limitations, we advertise a complimentary “light continental breakfast” available upon request. Our check-in procedure should include this explanation and ask whether you would elect our complimentary service, or decline, as it may not meet the needs of guests desiring a full breakfast. In such a case we can recommend several local restaurants which serve breakfast. Nevertheless, the fruit option should not be served “unripe”, and we will review our quality control. As for the pricing, our inn is about average for the village of Carmel, which tends to run about $75-100 more per night than like accommodations elsewhere on the Monterey Peninsula due to Carmel’s location. As for the complaint about a leaky toilet, we have inspected thoroughly and can find no evidence of this. The toilet is less than one-year old and all seals are intact. Perhaps some water was on the floor after use of the shower? Again, thank you for the comments; guest feedback is appreciated so we can keep striving to improve our service and the guest experience. We also welcome readers to peruse our other reviews, which we feel are more helpful and accurate about our property, services and overall guest experience.

This was our first visit to Carmel. The location of the Candle Light Inn is fantastic. Walking distance to everything. Parking was onsite (very convenient) and included in the cost of the room, which is lovely for Carmel where on-street parking is tough. The room was very stylish, the bed and seating area were extremely comfortable, the bathroom was spacious. The little sitting area on the front balcony was also lovely. Our room was located upstairs, and it was very quiet (minus the 6am seagulls, but that's to be expected). The room was SPOTLESSLY clean. Chandler at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Access to Pebble Beach/17 Mile Drive and the Point Lobos Natural Reserve was effortless. We highly recommend a stay at the Candle Light Inn!

This place is located right next to downtown - so convenient! The staff were exceptionally hospitable and kind. The room was cleaned from floor to ceilings. We usually wipe down everything (and I mean everything) with an alcohol wipe, and we did not find any dirt/dust when we wiped the room clean. So that tells me the cleaning staff here are doing a remarkable and thorough job.

Carmel always delivers with all it offers but is definitely enhanced when you enjoy your hotel! The Candle Light Inn is located perfectly, the prices are reasonable, and the beds/rooms are always wonderful each time we visit! Many rooms have a fireplace and all have a minifridge and complementary water bottles. The outside fireplace is turned-on each evening and is a fun and relaxing atmosphere to enjoy. The office always has water, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies! The next time you visit Carmel, try the Candle Light Inn!

We had enjoyed the Candlelight Inn in the past, because we got a comfortable room, partial ocean view, warm cookies and tea in the front office, and a delivered breakfast for a reasonable price. Unfortunately due to COVID, they've canceled the tea service in the office and the daily breakfast service. And on this stay, I got the noisiest room (between the office and the staircase) and paid full price for the room (admittedly it was for only 1 night). So I felt that I did not get value for money.

Dear stevebeck99, Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay with us. I do appreciate you are a returning guest. I am sorry to hear that we were not able to accommodate you on the second floor with the partial ocean view this time. It is helpful to give us a call or send us a note before check in time, letting us know your preferences before arrival or booking the correct room type, help us to help you. We do our best to accommodate all requests as possible. Apparently, you made your reservation on our website and selected our ADA room, the only one available for that night. We do not offer VIP rates during the weekend, we send invitations to our repeat guests when they are available. Each VIP promotion comes with a special code to be used when making a new reservation. It is not open to the public, it is a special promotion we offer to our repeat guests only. Our continental breakfast has been suspended since June, 2020. However, we do offer daily fresh baked cookies, tea and coffee in the Lobby. I hope all is well and to see you again next time you travel to Carmel, Warmly,

Needed a solo vacation and chose Candle Light Inn because of the King Suite Deluxe. It had a jacuzzi tub and the room didn't look like at all like a hotel room but more like a studio with shutters inside instead of drapes and comfortable bedding. It was perfect. The gas fireplace was calming and I was unable to hear my neighbors above and next to me. Easy walk to the nearby stores and restaurants. They also have partnerships with local restaurants which give discounts or freebies. Quiet neighborhood with plenty of parking. Very clean and pandemic-friendly. Would most definitely go again!
