Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A lovely guest house with local amenities close by. Family run everyone was so friendly. The rooms have everything you need and are very comfortable and well presented, I loved that there is a guest fridge that you can use.
Breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked I’m gluten free so it was lovely to find out that it was no problem for them.

I stayed at ashdene last weekend in room 1, when I arrived I was welcomed by ian the owner who was very polite, our room was extremely clean, the bathroom smelt of fresh bleach and it was so clean with a boat toilet roll hee hee, our bed looked lovely with 2 swan towels made out of towels I didnt want to use them haha
The village is about a 5 minute drive and we even visited the lovely marina and had lovely walk with an ice cream..
The shower was very powerful and the bedding was fresh and clean..
We had a couple of glasses of wine out in ashdene beautiful garden, so peaceful with beautiful flowers, lovely pond..
Our mouth watering breakfast was so tasty
We will be back to this beautiful b&b and with great hosts ian and cathy.. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Wish I had found this place years ago. Great hosts. Lovely garden would have liked better weather to sit out in it. Comfortable room with own external door so easy to access. Lots of storage space. Shower room was a bit small. Nice breakfast. You can eat takeaway meals in the dining room in the evenings. large car park at the rear. Near to petrol station/Tesco and fish and chip shop. Also The Heath pub/restaurant across the road. Excellent value.

The B&B was lovely for the most part, if it wasn't for the milk it would definitely be 5 stars. The food is delicious, the beds are so comfy and the man Ian is very friendly. But... I had mouldy milk, it was in sachets in the room. I drank lots of it in my tea, it was so lumpy and it made me sick. The next day, I politely told the woman, in order to let her know about the 8 MONTHS out of date sachets in my room and possibly others. I understand that mistakes happen but the worst thing (other than drinking vile milk that made me sick) is that Cathy didn't even apologise and barely seemed to care.
It is a shame because other than that it is such a lovely B&B. I feel bad writing this review because of how nice is it but giving out of date milk is one thing but no apologising is really unfair and unprofessional.

Response from Ian Lee, Owner at Ashdene Guest House
Responded 4 Apr 2021
So sorry to hear of the out of date milk. We however do not stock or use sachets of milk or put them into the rooms; we use either fresh milk in a jug or in date cartoned milk; we can only guess that it must have been left in your room by the previous occupant (it does happen) and we didn't spot it when renewing the tray, our apologies for that and Cathy is sorry if you felt that she didn't care, she did and it was rectified immediately. But we are glad you enjoyed your stay other than this incident.

Hi Cathy & Ian
What a quality Guest house you offer. I booked for two nights & ended up staying 5 nights. I would have booked more nights but unfortunately had to tear myself away to come home. Everything possible is provided and nothing is too much trouble. I had a very quiet stay, lovely room, beautiful garden and a lovely lay in without doors banging and noise. Just a perfect stay.

The b&b is disgusting! Our toilet had poo stains down it, the toilet outside was really dusty! Our room hadn’t been hoovered nor had the rest of the b&b, my bed smelt mustie 😷
breakfast was nice. I know there Closing soon but they should still give a good service due to the price they charge.. it’s a shame as I’ve been here before and it was lovely?

My first stay at the Ashdene and I could not have been made more welcome. Cathy and Ian are excellent hosts and cannot do enough for you. The rooms are warm and nice comfy beds and you have full use of the front living room with sky tv. Have now booked again for 20 days over the next month and am sure this will congtinue into the new year.

We stayed at the Ashdene Guest House for 1 night while we were visiting Beaulieu Motor Museum. Our host's were fantastic and the rooms were very spacious and clean. The breakfast was great and they catered for my needs as a vegetarian. We would definitely come and stay again and would recommend it to friends.
