We checked in and Mike had some helpful suggestions on sights to see and he even took us into the forest on his atv for a while! We stayed in room 4 next to the office. They had an old decorative phone on the stairwell outside our room. For the heck of it, I picked up the earpiece and I...

I recently had occasion to stay several times in Downieville, (a scenic hour northeast of the Grass Valley/Nevada City area.) The Riverside Inn is a throwback to the `1950's for sure, as I WAS there and enjoyed mean a summer as a child in the same facility. The same rooms with the same charming Knotty-Pine walls I remember when I...

The sound of the Downie River just outside our room which we could enjoy while sitting outside on the balcony was the best relaxation therapy we have had in years! The hotel owner/operators Nancy and Mike/Jim are very friendly and they hit it just right with their breakfast each morning, what a great way to start the day in Downieville!...

Mike and Nancy make you feel real comfortable and welcome. Had a nice breakfast provided by them and an amiable chat. Liked it so much purchased a gift certificate for our daughter to stay. Bed was nice and lots of pillows! The only challenge is finding a dinner spot as it is winter. Liked the St Charles for a beer...

We stayed in the Riverside Inn for a couple of nights while mountain biking in the area. It's an older building with a rustic feel, which we liked and our room was clean and nicely made up. The bathroom was clean with a modern shower. The balcony looked out over the river (I think all the rooms' balconies do) which...

A nice, quiet peaceful place to stay in an out of the way town. Rooms are clean with balconies overlooking the river. Great for sleeping! A bit of upkeep could be used, but clean and convenient to the town. Hosts are friendly and provide a nice breakfast. Some rooms have microwaves, but ours was a smaller room. Maybe next time.

We love to stay in Downieville. All of the rooms at this hotel overlook the river. We stay upstairs and all of the rooms there have balconies overlooking the river. The rooms are older but in very nice clean condition and look like cabins inside. We had a room with a kitchen which also overlooks the river. There is a...

The Riverside Inn has its charms, including a handmade quilt in my room. But for the price (the cheapest room is just under $100 a night, before tax) one would hope to have a few more amenities. My room was small but not cheap. There's no air conditioning in the rooms and Downieville can approach 100° (38°C) in the summer....

Clean and modern rooms, internet and peaceful. This place has it all, love going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the river. Walking distance from downtown. Owners are nice and friendly. They allowed me to bring my dog and I would recommend this place highly

The Riverside Inn in Downieville is a special find in the Sierras of North Eastern California. It is a fine old wooden building situated directly on the banks of the North Fork of the Yuba River. Our second floor room was delightfully furnished with a comfortable king bed and two upholstered wooden rocking chairs. The room was heated by a...
