PROS: It was a good value. All of the hotels in Fort Bragg are more expensive (because many overlook the coastline or are newer). I thought this was a good value for the area. In fact, the only hotel that was cheaper was Dolphin Inn, but I didn't want to stay in a hotel with a mini-golf course. Each room was in a "cottage," a main building with 4 rooms - 2 downstairs and 2 upstairs. It was soundproofed really well. From the entry hall, I could hear people in an upstairs room talking and laughing, but could hear nothing once I stepped inside my room. Awesome. The room was pretty big. The beds were fairly comfortable. Crisp, clean white sheets and duvets. There was a little coffee station in a small alcove outside of the bathroom. Micro and fridge also. The bathroom had a long counter, nice glass door shower, and hot water. Wi-Fi worked well; each cottage has its own Wi-Fi sign in. The room was carpeted, but it was clean - no sand, dirt, or grit. The room had a very faint pleasant smell. Good, quiet location - 4min drive north of downtown Fort Bragg and south of MacKerricher State Park. Only 20min from Mendocino. * I had a little trouble finding it when I arrived after dark. Cell service is unreliable along the coast, so remember to turn right on Pudding Creek Rd immediately after crossing Pudding Creek (when northbound on Hwy 1). If you pass Pudding Creek Trestle, you've gone too far. The reception at the front desk was warm and friendly. It is not open 24hrs, but the clerk informed me he would be there until 11pm that night when the last guest checked in, and to call from the room phone if I needed anything - extra blanket, etc. There was a BBQ, picnic table, umbrella, and ice machine just outside the office. It looked inviting despite the cold April chill. I would stay here again. CONS: The room temp was controlled by a thermostat that was slow to respond to heat the room. The balconies were nice, but were so closely situated, I was a bit startled after stepping outside one morning and seeing a neighbor sipping his coffee 4 feet away. Lol The toilet and shower had the low-flow throttles that all hotels in Northern CA have (due to the never- ending drought). The lighting is a bit dark in the room. The only window is the balcony's sliding glass door, but any neighbors on their balconies can (partially) see into the rooms next door, so I mostly kept the curtains closed. There's no breakfast offered here, but restaurants are a 10-15min walk into town. **Restaurants in Fort Bragg close between 5pm and 8pm, so if you get in late, like I did, your options are limited to McDonald's or Taco Bell in town, a 4min drive away. The creek has water, but not much, no longer spanning from bank to bank. In addition, there are large sandbars in the middle of the creek bed. Therefore, the water doesn't really flow, so the view is meh. I was worried about mosquitos, but it was too cold in April this year for the little buggers to bug me. …
