My wife and I have stayed here 6-7 times since the mid 1980s and always enjoyed our stays. The Russian style architecture is breathtaking. There is lots of attractive stained glass and the rooms, whether in the main building or surrounding cottages, are cozy. We like the classy, but not overly cute look of the rooms and the place is... A couple of hours N of San Francisco-great getaway on the ocean. As was Monday we were upgraded to Ocean View Room which is not large but complete with robe and all you need.-hardwoos floors-feel very scandavian. Bathroom is across the hall and is spacious but not modern by today's standards. Could probably use an update but is very serviceable and... More

No cell reception, no internet, great views, good food, what more do you want. First time we went was 23 years ago on our honeymoon. Went to celebrate our anniversary and the place is still great. Breakfast is delivered to your cabin, at the time of your choosing. Always very good. The restaurant is great, make reservations. If you want... More

Stayed in one of their cabins tucked back in the redwoods. Listened to the seals and the crashing ocean while sitting in front of a cozy fire in one of their rustic cabins. Homemade breakfast delivered to your door in a home made box in the morning. Wonderful restaurant on site. The owners are wonderful and very accomodating.

My girl and I have been dating for about 3 months. There is no doubt that we are in love, but finding time together has been the problem. Even when we do find time, our phones are lighting up like a Christmas Tree. St. Orres has a real cool History from a Russian family that originally built it in the... More

A relatively isolated part of California Hwy 1, buried in redwoods. Cabins and a very special inn designed to look like the Stav Churches of Norway and Russia 1000 years ago, including octagonal cupulas. Rustic setting, but plenty of hot water and electric heat, if you don't want to mess with the wood stove (although they provide plenty of chopped... More

This has been one of our favorite getaways for 35 years. Has not lost an ounce of charm. Each return visit is a special surprise. The rooms in the lodge and the cabins are equally charming. But the large cabins are quite special and have great sitting areas. Dining here is magical. We are amazed how they do such a... More

We stayed in Sea Pines, a little cabin that resembles the Weasley's house in Harry Potter from the outside. Inside are 2 small rooms with oversized furniture. Long on charm (a working fireplace!) but lacking in functionality. It is in a rustic setting with other cabins on a hill one driveway away from their fabulous restaurant, a short drive but... More

Be sure you explore your choices for this restaurant before settling in for dinner. Know that the fixed price menu is a lot of food.It included soup and salad and is rather expensive. The food is also heavy. We learned later that the bar has choices for lighter fare.

We had stayed in the Blue Iris cottage 10 years ago, and reserved the cottage again. When we arrived there was a problem with the blinds in the cottage so we were upgraded to the Black Chanterelle. Wow! What an amazing place with Russian-influenced architecture. It was bigger than the Blue Iris and had a wood stove, a Jacuzzi tub,... More
