Louise made me very welcome at her beautifully converted barn in the Somerset countryside. Travelling on my own, after a long journey I found a relaxing room with French windows opening onto a tranquil garden, and was greeted with homemade cake for tea. The room was well equipped, with a comfortable bed and the bathroom was clean and modern.

We stayed here for two nights as we were attending a wedding. On arrival we were met with tea and cake and a rumbustious welcome from Inca Louise's dog ( she checked we were okay with dogs before Inca was allowed to meet us). Our family joined us the next day so we took over all three rooms. We had a key to come and go as we pleased, breakfast at a time to suit us and tea and coffee on tap. The rooms are all ensuite so no queuing for the bathroom and there was plenty of hot water and heated towel rails ensured dry towels. Beds are comfy and large.

Would heartily recommend the Cider Barn fir a stay and Louise is an efficient, friendly and generous hostess

Really super review - thank you for coming to stay too. I do not always remember to ask guests if they are happy about bouncy dogs -I must admit! I need to do it each time, as she does adore guests arriving and wants to let them know. Best wishes, Louise

My partner and I stayed for one night mid week, as we were checking out a possible wedding venue and opted for something a bit different to the usual Travelodge stays and was pleasantly surprised at how nice this B&B was.

We have stayed in these types of accommodation before, so knew what to expect. Being able to come and go as you please with homely touches.

Communication with the owner was nice and easy, so we knew what we were doing.

Lovely clean room with a beautiful little out doors bit which I can imagine in the summer is lovely to sit out in, but was a bit cold for us. The bed was probably one of the comfiest I have ever slept it.

We went out locally for some food and came back to some fresh milk and piece of home made cake, which was lovely.

Breakfast the next morning was also faultless with all the usual breakfast options, cereals, fruit and of course a nice cooked breakfast.

If I had to be critical about anything it would be the lack of hairdryer and shampoo. There was shower gel however no shampoo, which I would of expected to see and I did search all of the drawers for a hairdryer, to no avail.

It was a great overnight stay and would highly recommend this B&B.

very pleasant hosts, some unavoidable noise from above. Basic living area containing uncomfortable and cramped 2 seat sofa with a throw plus a uniquely interesting kitchen in a cupboard with very little room for anything but basic cooking facilities but just worked

Good sized bedroom with 2 single beds and duvets pushed together to make a king sized area but unfortunately tiled floors resulted in beds moving around

en suite shower excellent but with very low toilet and no shelves .

As I am tall i noticed that the shower room window’s large high sill had not been cleaned and was covered in aged dust, cobwebs and dead insects which was not very pleasant and avoidable.

the inner hall light for some reason came on and off of its own accord randomly with no explanation, perhaps a ghost but more likely a wiring fault or switching problem but nonetheless somewhat alarming.

Wifi and phone signal in the barn very patchy and sat nav usage was a challenge

We tried the nearest pub “Martlett Inn”on first night and found it well below average with high prices and uninterested staff

However we had good quiet break, with pleasant owners ,thank you

Once again at the Cider Barn, and like returning home.
I would not plan to visit England in January! but family matters dictated that I did, and there was only one place I wanted to stay.
Even in winter, it was bright, and so warm and cosy. The beautiful aged wood, and structure of the barn make it well insulated. The wood burner upstairs was lit once, it never seemed cold though.
Louise was just as attentive and friendly and helpful, always giving just the right amount of attention, and you just feel so relaxed.
This time I had a different room, a double bedded one at the end of the house, comfortable and roomy, again an excellent shower.
This is a wonderful place for peace and quiet. I hope to be able to return in 2015

A hop skip and jump from Wellington, down a quiet lane stands the recently converted Cider Barn. Louise the owner has restored this home beautifully, keeping the traditional beams, and some old features, but at the same time has brought the building into the 21st century with efficient bathrooms and heating. Its light and airy everywhere, but best off all it is so relaxing. So quiet at night, stars were beautiful, even the milky way was on view.
Louise is a great host, so enthusiastic and helpful. her friends the GJ's helped out during my 11 night stay, equally they were terrific hosts, and no failings in the fresh fruit salad department!
If you like the countryside you will love it here, lots of walking nearby. If you just want peace then this is the place for you. Also some good eateries in the nearby villages. like the Martlett, The Catherine Wheel and The Holywell. Further afield The King Alfred is excellent, and The Cottage Inn Wellington. Also try Pynnes Farm shop at North Petherton, fantastic meats, produce and foody gifts.
I hope to be back next year, it really made me feel like I was in my own home, I did not want to leave, beats anywhere else in the area hands down.

We needed one night near Taunton and found the Cider Barn on the internet. Peaceful setting in small hamlet but easy access from M5. Beautiful barn conversion with fine views over countryside from all rooms. Friendly and welcoming. Comfortable bed and good breakfast. We had time only for a short walk down to the river but lots of tempting footpaths.

Louise is a most welcoming and accommodating hostess. I stayed in Cider Barn for two lovely nights in July 2012 and can highly recommend it. Runnington is a wonderful little hamlet within easy reach of Wellington and the M5 motorway junction 26. She sent me to an excellent pub up the road, booking ahead to ensure I had a place when I arrived.

We spent a couple of lovely days at Runnington following our wedding, Louise and her two incredibly well-trained spaniels were hugely welcoming, encouraging us to treat the Barn as our home from home during our stay. All newly refurbished, the Barn is warm and clean with a calm and relaxed atmosphere. It is the perfect setting to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. There are lovely walks from the front door and the Quantocks, Blackdowns and Exmoor are all very close. Even though we live locally, we are planning an anniversary trip already!

Perfect if you are visiting the Culmstock/Wellington area. Large spacious ensuite bedrooms, with big comfy beds. Delicious breakfast, with cooked option, fresh fruit salad, toast, cereals, all you can imagine or would wish to eat, all served by the lovely Louise. All set in the most stunning and peaceful countryside, with a walk at the end of the drive.
