This place is absolutely unforgettable--- like being tucked away in a chic yet cozy cabin! The rooms have wood fire places, stunning baths, and cabin-chic bedding: the perfect retreat!! An amazing breakfast shows up at your door each morning. I loved the surrounding area so much-- I would move there if I could. Perfectly remote! The ideal getaway. Don't miss... More

We were really excited to stay at Manka's and for the mostpart, it was what we had hoped for. But for the pricetag (we booked 3 cabins for 4 nights), the service could have been better (or even existent). Everything great that others have said in previous reviews - the breakfast service, the linens and bath products, the intimacy and... More

Always entertaining to read the sometimes contradictory reviews here of Manka's Inverness Lodge. This is a particular place of a specific bohemian hunting-lodge ethos not embraced by all but beloved by many. Among the latter, count us. Over the years we've repaired here often, this is our ninth visit but our first in an Annex room. Room #9 is cozy... More

We had a wonderful night at Manka's! The place is charming… Totally off the beaten path and almost intentionally on the down low. The breakfast included fresh made morning buns and homemade yogurt. Absolutely delicious. It even came with a copy of the New York Times! I would highly recommend staying here. It is open and much has changed. Disregard... More

I shouldn't be writing this review, because I want this place to stay secret. But I can't help but gush about how amazing Manka's is. To begin, this place has some incredibly interesting and quirky history. Originally built as a hunting and fishing lodge in the early 1900s, before even the Golden Gate Bridge was around to transport people to... More

A word-of-mouth destination. Check in is a parked Avion Trailer (looks like an Airstream). The rooms are a combination of stand-alone cabins and attached units, set around a neighborhood. Exceptional attention to detail. Real bear skin rug. Real period furniture, bathroom fittings, door handles. Something out of a Ralph Lauren photo shoot. Outdoor shower. Enormous tub. Complete silence at night.... More

We had wanted to stay at Manka's for quite a long time but were put off by the fire several years ago and waiting for the restaurant to reopen. We saw that they had opened Sir and Star nearby and that a restaurant at the inn was not going to happen. So, we decided to try it out. I was... More

I absolutely loved our stay in Manka's Cabin and it was a welcome treat after leaving the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. I adored the bath and we enjoyed relaxing in front of the fire, listening to the ipod music selection and playing cards. The breakfasts were certainly delicious - the first morning's delivery consisted of cinnamon rolls and... More

We spend two lovely nights at Manka's, staying in Room 7 in the annex. The room was large with an attached porch. The lighting was exceptionally dim making it difficult to see that the it was actually nicely done. Large, comfy leather chairs and a hassock in front of the fireplace, a large, sturdy bed with a comfortable mattress and... More

Our second time here - first was years ago as a couple before their restaurant burned down. This time we stayed at Mankas Cabin and brought our daughter. She absolutely loved sleeping in front of the fireplace on the sofa bed. Huge tub in bathroom with excellent bath products and rainforest shower outside. Excellent sheets, super comfortable bed, quiet peaceful... More

“Various rooms; ask the hotel for more details, as they're all different.”

“There are only four rooms in the annex. We were assured that ours was "the best" but I have no personal basis for comparison.”

“If pockets are deeper than Tomales bay and you don't mind a few floatsom Manka's will be ideal simply for the cabins structure alone.”

“These are all old rooms, so don't expect fancy. Just comfy rustic. Annex rooms are least expensive, quiet and comfortable. Decide if a fireplace or deep tub is more important. You will have neighbors. The other units have more privacy, and are more expensive. Ask about the different situations. The boat house is nice if you want to be on the water. The annex is nice if you are on a budget.”
