This is one of the only places we’ll stay in June Lake as it has large comfortable rooms, when we’re just traveling as a family of three, and updated cabins that are perfect for trips with extended family or friends. The resort features a massive indoor pool, hot and spa (nice

We received a warm welcome at check-in which included "Welcome cookies" and were provided details of our accommodations. The resort has a number of small cabins, which are heated and have full kitchens and baths. We had two small dogs and got a pet friendly cabin. The

I rented a two-bedroom cabin for three adults and two crate-trained dogs and the cabin was so small, that it barely fit the two crates inside the living room without rearranging the furniture. The bathroom floor was also filthy and the shower drain was clogged, leaving us to

The Double Eagle is an excellent place to stay for any season. While we were there last for Fall, and the last fishing trip on June Lake, fall is not the only reason to go there. This year, we were there for Winter, snow skiing on June Mountain and Mammoth. Spring, more snow

Last week we spent three nights at the Double Eagle Resort and were disappointed by a number of things. 1) There were Venetian blinds over the sliding glass doors to our porch. Every time we pulled the blinds up to enjoy the view they fell down. We reported this twice to the

What is the best time during the summer to visit Yosemite?
Dear FMF doc, The High Sierra in the summertime is absolutely beautiful anytime. When the children are out of school, Yosemite, can be a busy time. We love the end of August, September.

Good Afternoon, May is a beautiful time to visit the June Lake Loop. However, at the time you will be visiting us, the pass you would take to Yosemite, highway 120 is not due to open until the May 18th 2018. Every year is different depending on how much snow we received. We look forward to taking care of you and family while you at here with us at DER.

We were there a few days ago. The resort wasn’t full and they accommodated our request for an upstairs room (they start getting very busy in June). The Tioga Pass is still closed but I don’t think it is far off opening (subject to any road repairs needed).

Driving from the June Lake area to the valley floor of Yosemite can be a VERY long drive even under the best circumstances. And traffic in and around the valley floor once you get there can be horrible. Reports of 3+ hour round trips just to circle the valley floor were routine last summer. I live in California and know this area very well. I do not mean to rain on your honeymoon but serious due diligence is called for with your apparent plan. Yosemite is truly magnificent and unique. But getting to it and around it in peak summer travel time can be a nightmare. Message me and I’ll be happy to share ideas and suggestions from many trips in June Lake and the Yosemite side of the Sierra.

Depends which entrance. 20 minutes to eastern Yioga Pass but many hours to drive north, the ease, then south to the western entrance.
