I have never stayed in a more disgusting place than the McCambridge lodge. The railings that blocked the drop off down a steep cliff were broken. Broken down cars in the parking lot. Stained and broken down mattresses and box springs. Stained and burnt carpeting. Stained furniture. Spiders and webs behind bed. A spoon was dropped between stove and cabinet,... More

I would have rated this a 4, but I was unable to stay in the room during the day because the AC was unable to cool the room to a reasonably comfortable temperature. Otherwise, the room was adequate and a good value. The people working there are extremely nice.

The owner was overally nice- got into an accident and he stayed up all night to make sure everyone was ok and drove a group of my friends down the Kerville hill all the way to bakersfield just to rent a car becasue ours got totaled. The place is pretty we kept- could be a little cleaner but overal for... More

We reserved the hotel the same day I arrived at the Kern Valley for one night. The hotel is well situated, right at the skirts of a tiny town of Kernville. I got a room overlooking the lake, quite a nice view from the window. The room has two queen beds with cheap but firm and comfortable mattresses, which is... More

We stayed in various standards and prices of accommodation during a 4-week tour of California. We really liked this place. Yes, outside the McCambridge is tired and in need of a lick of paint, and Yes, the staff aren't dressed up like the front desk at The Best Western, but everyone is very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable,... If you need a place to sleep, we slept here but not a place I would recommend. The rooms are VERY outdated. The windows did not lock, the carpet was stained and the ultimate gross out...the bedspread was stained...eew. Our friends had the room next to us which was a bit nicer (no stains) but still was lacking. If you... More

I love the McCambridge Lodge! I've stayed here at least 7 or 8 times. It's my favorite place to stay in Kernville. It's got a rustic cozy feel, and all the rooms I've stayed in have been very clean and comfortable. The owners are so nice, and always extremely accommodating. The icing on the cake is the amazing view of... More

Stayed here due to rafting trip with large group in mid July. We had called 3 or 4 months in advance so we were assured to get the rooms with bed arrangements specific to the specific groups/families. This hotel did not require the 2 night minimum some of them do for a Saturday night, so we went with it. Hey,... More

The room we were provided with was outdated and filthy. Also, the air conditioning is substandard. We left the air on all day and it still didn't cool well enough at night. The motel has been neglected for years and it's very noticeable upon arrival. Granted there is somewhat of a view down the hill, most of it is obstructed... More
