This place is great! Clean, very authentic feel to the old city. Plenty of hot water and the restaurant has amazing authentic dishes from the region. It is centrally located in the old walled city and the staff were very nice and spoke English. I highly recommend this hotel which is an authentic replica of the Huton lifestyle with modern...

We stayed in Pingyao for two days and saw the recommendation about the 'tian yuan kui' hotel. We arrived very late and normally they close in time at 10.30 pm. We've been there too late 10.45 pm but they called us back and we got very delicious food (see fotos). The order system in this medieval atmosphere of China is...

An authentic hotel with the needs of today in the center of the old part of the city. Friendly staff. Quite, good bed and breakfast, etc. This hotel gives you an idea how the people lived in the past. The patio is quite; you do not hear any traffic at all.

We stayed at the TYK on mid-Automn festival. Although the streets were very busy with tourists inside was very calm and quiet. The hotel is located very well on South st. In a beautiful old mansion . We stayed in 2 kinds of rooms: first night was in a Ming Qing Traditional big bed Standard Price , which was a very...

We stayed for a couple of nights in a cozy, well furnished room with a "kang" style bed. The bed was very comfortable and there ware plenty of extra blankets on hand. The rooms are arranged around some quaint, highly photogenic courtyards. It was very reasonably priced considering the location - just south of the bell tower in the centre...

The room was the largest we have had thus far in our Chinese Adventure, the bed was massive (I am 189cm tall) and comfortable. Staff cleaned the room daily and did a better than average job. Location is excellent being in the heart of South Street and close to all of the interesting sights. Why only 3 stars? Despite requests...

This small quaint hotel was a pleasure to stay in. Staff very nice and accommodating. Breakfast a little pricey, but dinner food was reasonable and delicious. Wifi worked.traditional bed that you had to crawl into, but once in, very comfy.

This hostel is delightful. You enter into the dining areas where reception is based. The rooms are scattered along cobblestone corridors behind the building. Considering I traveled there during the heart of China's winter, the rooms were comfortably heated. Although it was extremely clean, the floors seemed very dusty with pollution dust despite how hard the cleaners worked. It's just...

Helpfull english speaking staff. The hotel is coventiently situated near the citywall and other sights. They can also arrange a driver to multiple sightseeings outside Pingyao. Such as zhangbi castle (love it! especially the nice locals), Shuang lin temple and the Wang family courtyard. Great place to explore pingyao and surroundings. The restaurant is popular among Chinese, Japanse and western...

Dispite beautiful rooms, the staff are very rough, not understanding at all, don't make any effort and don't speak so well english (they didn't understand us when we ask to be picking up at the bus station as every hostel does in Pingyao) and above all, works all the day and the night (not finish at 11 pm!!!). I don't...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Any trip to Pingyao should include a visit to the Ri Shengchang Money Exchange Museum and a stay at the Tian Yuan Kui Guesthouse. The Tian Yuan Kui Guesthouse, which is in the heart of the old city, was built in 1791. During the Jin & Shang Dynasties it was a prominent area enjoying an economic boom, and it is popular again today. On entering the Tian Yuan Kui Guesthouse you will be swept back in time. The classic architecture, courtyards, stone lion carvings, Ming & Qing style furniture, red lanterns and fragrant tea by candlelight, all adding to the memorable experience.
