We were here for 2 nights in late October. We picked Karuizawa as we wanted to see some Fall colours and the town is high enough in the mountains that the trees start turning before Tokyo’s. If you arrive in Karuizawa by train, there are 2 exits out of the train station – take the north exit. We took the...

This hotel has a hidden gem. The manager and his team is amazing. Here is the story...it was snowing hard on the day we checked out from the hotel. We had no experience driving on snow, had no snow tires, and yet we wanted to continue our drive to Nikko. When Mr Okawa knew about the plan, he was concerned...

This was just a one-night stay over a Japanese public holiday weekend so we were prepared to pay a premium price for a hotel that we had heard good things about. We weren't disappointed. The check-in experience got us off to a great start - a complimentary glass of champagne and small treat to eat as we sat in very...

Wonderful experience with this newly renovated boutique hotel over the Silver Week holiday weekend in September. Service was on par with top quality hotels we've experienced in world cities, Paris, NY, Tokyo. High quality amenities, everything in the mini-bar free, a butler staff that caters to you from check in to check out. In fact, very kind staff all around,...

Recommended by my colleagues in Tokyo, we booked a junior suite in this hotel. My 9 year old daughter and I checked in on late Tuesday. Hotel provides pick up service from station. Lobby is nice. Welcome drinks and snacks were a pleasant surprise. Check in was very smooth and we were sent to our room on 2nd floor. Over...

The renovated lobby is very stylish, both check-in and check-out were done efficiently. We are a family of 3, booked the Deluxe Japanese Western room. The room was a bit dated, but was spotless. The beds were extremely comfortable, our teenager slept on a futon in the tatami area. The minibar offers a lot of free drinks, incl sodas, juices...

We chose this hotel for our family tour. This hotel is luxury and elegant. The service is very good. The cuisine is amazingly delicious and creative. I like this hotel very much. All snacks in the room are free. The bathroom is smaller.

We chose to stay in Karuizawa for Christmas as we wanted to be in a smaller town and away from the busy lifestyle of the cities. Karuizawa was a great choice and this hotel was fabulous! It has been refurbished very recently and is luxurious and on-trend. I felt like the foyer was straight out of an elegant design book....

A friend from Japan recommended this hotel to me. We had a wonderful stay, and amazing meals!! It's a small establishment hidden in the old part of Karuizawa, 2 mins walk from Ginze Karuizawa. If you are looking for facilities like swimming pool, gym and onsen spa, this is not the place. It has recently been remodelled so the lobby...

This is our first time to Karuizawa. Purpose is for skiing. That's quite surprising to find that the town is so small and quiet, especially on weekdays. Some shops and restaurants are only open in summer time and on weekends. I have booked a hotel called Kyu Karuizawa because it could offer a room for 4 persons. My children are...
