There aren't many places to stop so we were told to check out Isabella Motel. It is right off of the freeway and looked nice enough so we stopped. I was surprised at check-in because it was $68 a night for a single bed which seemed really high for the quality of motel but we decided to get the room... More

I already did a review a couple of years ago, but they show a picture taken of SilverCity Ghost Town when they should have supplied a photo of the motel. Here is the correct photo of the front of the motel. There are only one or two motels still open in the town of Lake Isabella, so call ahead if... More

I don't know what the other reviewers were looking for --- there ain't no Hilton up here in the mountains! People come up here to fish, ride horses, hike, ride ATV, etc.... I stayed at the Isabella Motel a few years ago when I was looking for a house up here just after I retired. Yes, it was "bare-bones", but... More

At first sight the motel doesn't impress however, the inviting pool is always open and very clean. Located by the pool is a very nice covered patio to eat. What impressed me the most were the rooms. Absolutely immaculate with two separate beds and with a wall dividing them, TV, AC, small desk with coffee maker. Bathroom had a shower-soap,... More

Lake Isabella is a resort community, and although it's not particularly upscale (think boats and barbecue, not golf and gourmet cuisine) the price of food and lodging is much higher than it is only an hour away by car in Bakersfield (for example.) This is a perfectly nice old-fashioned motel with some deferred maintenance outdoors (rain damage to the eaves,... More

There is not a lot of choice in the area but at over $100 and no breakfast it is way too expensive, very dated decor, you feel like you are in a museum. The ghost towns in the are and the panoramic views in the area are great. Though the owner is a really nice lady and does her best,... More

Only stay here if there's nowhere else available. It's more expensive than the standard motel - we paid $68 + tax, which was about $60 too much. Altho' there was a kitchen, the wood panelling, paintwork and carpet were really tatty, the bed rough to say the least, and the pillows about 2cm thick. The guy on reception was pleasant... More
