Was attending a conference and wanted to find a reasonably priced hotel near the conference location. The photos were great giving an excellent idea of set up and cleanliness. Upon arrival... which was around 5pm.... I was very warmly greeted and told complimentary wine and cheese was being served in the lobby!!! This occurs every day! Well, a very nice...

You could search a long time and not find this quality of service and attention to detail. The management shows authentic regard for each of the guests. They were so gracious and thoughtful. Even after being up half the night seeing to early morning preparations for a group of marathoners who had already taken off on their run by the...

We stayed at The Varden a couple of weeks ago and we were charmed by its style and 21st Century amenities. What a great find in Long Beach! I highly recommend it for location, friendliness and attention to detail. Larry Black gave us great advice on the area also.

I found the Varden because I had booked late for a conference and all the usual hotels were full. Needing a place to stay I went on Trip Advisor and found the Varden. I must say, for a business traveler it has everything you need. Very comfortable, super clean and cozy rooms, with no noise from other rooms or the...

I loved, loved, loved, The Varden. The Varden is the perfect pied a terre, in the heart of the city, a few blocks to the ocean, one block from all the hot restaurants and a quick walk to the convention center. Its euro-chic white leather and glass interiors are in stark contrast to the 1920's era signage and Dolly Varden...

One night stay for a business trip to LB. Very comfortable room, walkable to all the restraurants and attractions in LB, easy parking, great service, fresh breakfast - plus tack on the unique restoration of this hotel and overall it makes for a memorable stay. Doesn't have all the frills of a major hotel - like a fitness center, but...

Larry, Charles and the entire staff at the Varden immediately make you feel like part of the family. I stayed with them in 2008 when they first opened the hotel and again in September 2010. The hotel and rooms still have the brand new look and feel. The rooms are very modern, clean, quiet and fantastic if you are a...

If you are staying in LA please consider this boutique hotel in Long Beach as your base. The building is old for US standards but the interior well suits travellers from Europe or Australasia since whilst the rooms are small they are well appointed and sleep beautifully
