I love this building and all the Art Deco era in Downtown LA along with the renovations and the way they had preserved old buildings charm and made them into current working business and attractions. This hotel is beautiful, might be a bit dark because of the use of wood inside but if you appreciate old charm and architecture this...

Thank you for staying at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us. If you choose to stay with us again, I'd like to suggest our complimentary downtown shuttle. It covers the majority of areas that you spoke of and it is free for our guests. There are some many great things to do...

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in October / November. What this hotel has is character and history (and great athletic amenities, free for guests). It's a little slice of LA's past, still open-for-business. Once you leave the lobby, which is a little run-down, the facilities, accommodations, bar and restaurant are all very good. Room was big...

Thank you for staying at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. We appreciate your kind words regarding our history. Our club was founded in 1880 and we have been in this building over a century. We take pride in being a longtime resident of downtown Los Angeles. We look forward to seeing you again. Thank You, Allan Johnson Revenue Analyst

We stayed on the top floor which has been renovated and we really enjoyed the room which is well priced. The elevators are rickety. You are going up and down with people in workout clothes. Parking is right there on site and the bar is classic and great. If you need to be downtown it is conveniently located. Nice for...

The hotel is located in downtown LA. Its location might be a problem but its best to have a car when in LA as its the best way to get around the city. The hotel is located in a historical building and you have full access to all the onsite amenities as well as a parking lot (which has a...

Thank you for staying at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. We are happy you enjoyed your stay. The driving dilemma is a common one for our guest and that is why we try to offer special hotel parking rates with in/out privileges to help alleviate the cost of having a car in LA. We look forward to seeing you again....

This hotel in downtown LA offers lots of amenities, including an excellent breakfast buffet, athletic facilities and massage. What it didn't have was a working elevator! The elevator stopped on every floor (in a 12 story building), and once they wouldn't go up - we had to ride all the way down to the first floor to go back up...

Thank you for staying at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. We apologize for the issues with our elevators. Our building is over a century old and we are actively working on modernizing some of our older elements. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the rest of the club. the hotel at the LAAC is superb: the staff is friendly and efficient and knowledgeble and if you stay as a guest, then you can swim in the FABULOUS and i mean fabulous pool, where Esther Williams once swam. You can see superior art on the walls, enjoy a drink or a meal: the cuisine is outstanding. And then you...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights to attend a wedding at the club. The place itself has such a unique historical charm having been around at least since the 30's as an athletic facility. The decor reflected it with very cool old photos from the old days. The room was comfortable. The AC was great and the...

Thank you for staying at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. One of the best things about staying here is that we have a 1 p.m. check-out time. The flip side of that is that it is difficult to get an early check-in before our 3 p.m. check-in time. We apologize for not properly relaying our policies. Thank You, Allan Johnson...

This hotel is conveniently located in the LA downtown, old style (the building is a historical building) and staff are friendly. We got upgraded to the suite as it's my husband's birthday - the room is hugeeeee! Also with in-house garage which is reasonably priced for guests.

It has a very old fashioned club-like atmosphere, with leather chesterfield sofas bookcases, dark wood, low lighting etc. The dining room and bar were not busy and the service was sometimes very good ( apart from being charged twice for drinks in the bar when I had specifically asked the uninterested barman to check it). The bedroom was comfortable in...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
