My boyfriend and I were planning a road trip up Highway 1 in California, and planned to spend one night in Mendocino. I had researched places to stay on line, and had selected this property. It was a total winner. The grounds are so cute, with lots of unique rooms and separate little buildings, lights, a private and secluded hot...

My wife and I came up to stay in December for my birthday. When we checked into our room, we found a bottle of wine from the owners to greet us--a nice welcome! We stayed in the Sea Breeze room, one of two rooms upstairs in the main house. The other rooms are scattered around the property, and across the...

We stayed for two nights over NYE in the Cove Cottage, this place is perfect if you want to relax and get away from it all. The owners and staff were great and the food was great as well. Some wine on the private deck overlooking the cove below, and a fire in the stove in the cottage to keep...

I remember first coming to the Alegria 4-years ago, before I met my wife. I knew this place was special right from the start. The staff and owners there were so warm and welcoming and it is the only hotel I know of in Mendocino which has direct beach access from the grounds. I knew I wanted to come back...

Originally only due to stay one night we were charmed into staying for two nights in the Driftwood cottage. Given the choice of staying in the cottage or over the road in their sister b&b the cottage won hands down, a lovely quirky place with everything you could need. The hosts were great and the breakfasts were wonderful and different each...

My husband and I spent one night at the Alegria Inn in December 2011 and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the Treehouse room, which was rustic and funky - in a good way! It was very well-appointed with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in (if you like your mattress super-firm it might not be for you,...

We stayed at the Pacific Suite and our parents at the adjoining Sea Breeze. These two rooms are situated on the 2nd floor of the main house. There are 2 cottages in the beautiful garden, which we looked at and like a lot, as well. The Pacific Suite is the most spacious, airy and boasts not only one but two...

We stayed in the Driftwood Cottage for our anniversary -- a perfect little hideaway. Quiet nights, wonderful breakfasts delivered to the room, all-in-all a very restful place. We will absolutely stay here again next time we're in Mendocino. I'm uploading a lot of photos so you can get a sense for the place.

Alegria is so cozy, beautiful and welcoming and almost like staying at a good friend's beach home. It was kind of funny because there were 4 people celebrating birthdays at Alegria that weekend (and I was happy to count myself as one of the lucky 4). The innkeepers provide exceptional service - tending to all these details - wine, flowers,...

We are local and could have stayed anywhere along the coast, but we chose Alegria to celebrate our dual birthdays. We were familiar with Alegria from the Whale Festival and figured they would have good food, as they always do. We enjoyed the lovely gardens and the short walk to the beach. We stayed in the Sea Breeze room and...
