Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked this hotel very last minute-y. I think it has been rather recently remodeled, so consider the date if you are reading negative reviews. Also, I am given to understand that the neighborhood used to be pretty sketchy. But it's not so bad anymore. I didn't see any worrisome parts. Probably the fastest hotel check-in I've ever had. Extremely efficient and very nice young woman. Worst (but really not very) things first... Cons: - Doors open to the outside. Might not be everyone's cup of tea. We don't mind it. - There is street noise. We didn't think it was bad. As mentioned elsewhere, it's a couple of blocks away from a hospital, so sirens should be expected. Again, we didn't mind. - Toilet/shower room was very tiny small. Also, weird shower. But I guess they remodeled the best they could given what they started with. - The cups provided were styrofoam. Disappointing. Only 2 by coffee maker. None in bathroom. But they had plastic cups near the ice machine. Still not ideal, but we're kinda picky about some stuff. - No in-room safe. Probably should be one. Now for the good stuff... Pros: - Free parking! Possibly a common occurrence on this strip of motel row, but appreciated nonetheless. - Mini-fridge. Not always available at this price point. - Lots of drawer space. (But only 4 hangers and no luggage rack, go figure...not a deal-breaker, though.) - Room was very clean. - Expansive vanity made up for teeny-tiny bathroom. - Modern decor & furnishing. - Hipster/retro/funky vibe. And I am none of those, but it's better than generic & boring. So it was a plus for me. :-) My own personal hotel rating includes the following questions: Q: Haw many nights do I think I could stay there comfortably? A: Two. Three in a pinch. Q: Would I stay there again? A: Yes. I would not recommend this hotel for grandparents or families with children. Probably not their scene. But I'd vouch for it to anyone else. I liked it just fine.

This was the most affordable hotel with the best reviews in the immediate area. Hotels closer to the airport were a lot more expensive. That is one of the positives. A couple of negatives to keep in mind. The hotel is close to a fairly busy street and close to a hospital. So you’ll hear first responder vehicles regularly and you’ll hear vehicle traffic almost constantly. Also, I requested an early wake up call and got it an hour early. Early flight and requested 3:30 a.m. wake up and got 2:30 a.m. Not pleasant at all. Despite the negatives, I’d still recommend this over all motels in the area.

Wasn’t sure if I should rate this 3 or 4 points. The location within walking distance to a BART station and some good restaurants is a big plus. The room itself, which is far from expensive, is spacious and clean. Nothing to complain! The reception had no sign (maybe on purpose?) so was not easy to find. Check in itself was fine and the staff was friendly. There is some street noise but that didn’t bother me too much. However, the location also had its downside. Encountered some strange situations/ persons and even a car robbery. I did park my car at the property for two days and that felt safe though. Overall nothing special but for me a perfect location for a visit to San Francisco. Will stay here again.

Pros: Inexpensive, clean room, comfortable bed, lots of drawers and counterspace, bath counter & bedside lighting good, market next door. Cons: Heat/AC unit 6' from floor with directions on top (no info from woman in office), so room cold until I could get help next day from male manager; no outlet for keurig so had to move it across the room; office hard to find; parking definitely not secure--car window smashed, but nothing stolen because nothing in car--security cameras don't cover all parking spaces.

Once we arrived, we were a bit surprised at the check in location or lobby area, not typical of any hotels, but it worked out well. The rooms were a bit smaller than expected, but very clean. The beds are awesome, very comfortable, Id have to say, the beds were the best part of the stay. They could upgrade on better towels, the ones we had were old, thin and scratchy. Rooms are equipped with a Kerug coffee pot with a nice selection of teas and or coffee. The grounds maintenance area could use better cleaning, I think the homeless population uses the parking lot so trash is always around.

We arrived really late (around 2am). We spent the first night expecting average conditions instead we appreciated how clean the rooms were and how comfortable the beds were. We had the following day walking around in San Francisco and back to the hotel at night. Hospitable staff.

Overall GREAT! Great room and great price. Sabina was working when I arrived. She helped checked me in and she was great. Very friendly and helpful. Able to answer all my questions. She is also local so is able to help out with local knowledge. One or two suggestions could be made for the room but nothing worth going into detail here (mgmt may reach out to me for info). I will DEFINITELY be returning.

So I found myself stranded in Oakland after a series of unfortunate events. I stumbled upon this place and was checked in with Grace who was very helpful and welcoming. Clean, comfortable rooms which came with a keurig machine. Seemingly decent location with plenty of restaurants relatively near (though didn't get to explore that much.) Also, not too expensive. Definitely would stay here again.

BE VERY CAREFUL! I had a reservation a YEAR AGO at this hotel but when I pulled up to the location, I did not feel safe staying there, so my company moved me to another hotel. (I never even went inside) Now, a YEAR LATER, they charged my credit card!! I have tried to contact them by phone and email 4 TIMES (including their corporate office), with no response. I am obviously disputing this charge. Shame on this hotel for not just trying to charge for a stay that never happened, but for not bothering to return a call!

This is an excellent hotel. As an Oakland native I am really proud of what has been done with this property. My boyfriend and I wanted a little staycation and the room was amazing. The young lady working named Sabina was so helpful. She walked me back to my room to ensure my new key cards worked after I had trouble with them. She went out of her way to accommodate us in so many ways, she really helped make the stay. The huge bed and clean room was lovely! Decor was also nice.
